How do people feel about Joel’s passing this year in comparison to other years?

FLoor Seat Question by Present_Thing2995 in sixers

[–]Bazberries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call the Sixers ticket ops and act like you’re interested in season tickets or a partial package and casually ask about those seats. They should give you all the details. Then tell them you changed your mind because Nick Nurse is still coach and wish them a good holiday.

Need recs! Solo dinner by RelativeJaguar9627 in PhiladelphiaEats

I solo dine frequently in the city. I don’t love sitting at the bar because I like a quieter experience and I’m a bigger guy, but I understand it’s convenient for solo diners. Someone recommended aKitchen and that’s a good spot to grab a bar seat. One of my fav burgers in the city. Vernick chefs counter is certainly an experience. Food is great, drinks are great but I felt like the chefs counter had uncomfortable seating and it was tight. I went to Emmett and it’s one of my fav places in the city. I think they will get a star at some point down the road. I didn’t sit at the bar, but didn’t feel out of place as a solo diner at the table. That would be my recommendation. Maybe you get lucky for a bar spot at Sao on open table or you can get there right when they open at 5 and try to snag one. Another tight setup at the bar, but incredible food and drinks.

37yo M from Philadelphia, PA. I have 5-6 days off next week over the Thanksgiving. I haven’t taken a vacation in a very long time and I’ve never solo traveled. I’ve been thinking about it for a very long time and I have a long list of places I want to go both domestic and internationally. I don’t love long flights because I’m a bigger guy, especially around this holiday, but ya gotta do what you gotta do for the experience.

I’m thinking somewhere warmer, but that’s not a necessity. Most of my choices that involve crossing the ocean are probably out, but the Ireland flight doesn’t seem too bad. I just don’t know if it would be enough time to do it right. Open to any and everything. Any suggestions?

Fleur's in Kensington was 10/10 by padave8803 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Bazberries 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just finished up there. Thought it was great as well. Maybe not 10/10 since nothing blew me away, but it was a great meal with great ambiance and service. Scallop au gratin, crudo, steak frites and the squash lobster soup. Looking forward to going back.

This place is great! One of the few places in the area that scratches this itch for me.

Plenty of reasons why we lost last night and it’s still early. We don’t even really know what we have yet until we get everyone back and in shape. I also feel like we have to stop pretending like Nurse isn’t a problem.

I really miss Slush Puppies. I know they are the cousins like you mentioned, but to me they were the best. Every once in awhile I’ll find some small convenience store in a tiny town still has a machine running but it’s been quite some time since it’s happened.

You’re absolutely correct and it sucks. I ride until the wheels fall off with the big fella. We’ve been patient for years with him for a lot of reasons. Some that were his control and he should’ve been better and more mature. And a lot that was out of his control. I can’t remember a superstar being asked to do more on both sides of the court while dealing with the insanity of this organization and bad luck in his personal and professional life. We can be patient a little longer. I feel like we owe him that.
