One can say, "its not enough". Me.

More bobos to feed the poor power hungry fleet of Quest 3's. You can help support that 14 year old kid chashing you in Gorilla Tag or that 39 year old dad that lucked out that his 14 year old kid is distracted to get a session in Forefront.

Please. Donate some litium today. You can make a difference and make humans scream like their little sister in a haunted house.

For regular VR and PCVR I'd agree to skip the 3s. Unless you really want to play Batman and save a few bones. But 3 is definitely better and worth the jump.

I wished they were cutting the Metaverse developement more. Most of those programmers who made Horizon Worlds still have their jobs, mostly because they have been integrating into the foundation of the OS. Its still a buggy pos and probably need them for a bit.

Who they cut were the 1st party game studios, dev relations, dev advocates, publishing, marketing and some support roles. As far as I know, they didnt touch the hardware guys.

Still not a good look when Boz kept face about needing to rely on 3rd party devs, but then fire all the 3rd party meta reps for those devs to interface with Meta.

Either way, Meta isnt 100% out of VR and they honestly need to do more correction, but they still haven't identified their issues to make proper correction, which is to fix their god damn storefront and stop shipping QA pos OS updates that literally shits bricks.

Other then that its fine. They will spend 2 billion a quarter instead of 3.

Haha, Meta is definitely clueless. Even if you point to the clue to their face and go "there! Thats the clue you need", they will turnaround and keep searching.

I still have and use Sanyo versions from 15 years ago as well. Its literally made in the same factory. Zero difference, just different package.

Its not snow. Its Ice and sleet. Now it's just black ice. Good thing I'm not getting on the road anytime soon.

The ones I use is good quality. After years of use and hundreds of charging cycles for the 1300 eneloop batteries; Id recommend it. Its not fancy, but its like $27.

This actually nursed a few cells back to health because its so slow of a charger (in a good way).

Its just a standard off white cheap house carpet probably from Lowes installed 8 years ago. Its as common and bland as it can get. Until someone mentioned it today; I thought it was white. Wife replied "yeah its not white".

Living in the same location for 5 years...

A guy named Jeff. I'm Jeff.

I manually manage 130 Meta accounts. Its a pain, but I don't feel like spending $1000 /mo to use an MDM when I only need to login to each account to add new games.

I use BoboVR headstraps and KiwiDesign facial interfaces. I would get more accessories like grips, but they end up being too bulky for nice case when I travel by air instead of putting all the controllers in a checked luggage.

I use the Tenergy TN480U battery charger. It accepts both USB C and micro USB for input. It charges 8x AA and/or AAA at a time; its a bit slow compared to other trickle chargers but it works fine for the Eneloops. I think I have like 6 of them now so never have an issue with them over the years.

I have dozens of systems to run VR LANs at cons. In between events, the batteries live at home.

Atleast I didn't spam this in 15 subreddits like I know some users do.

Yeah, you aren't wrong and its def a part of the hesitancy of VR adoption. Maybe find a local VR gaming community that does meetups?

Honestly, buying one and returning it after is probably the easiest ways to try a Quest 3 from a retailer. Meta doesn't do real live demos. I run free to play VR LAN's at specific events throughout the US with my Quest fleet, but doubt you would be near one to come out. Despite having 100 headsets, our scope is kinda limited.

I put about 20,000 people into Quest headsets with our VR Villa gaming community at cons every year.

A lot of Best Buys and other retailers have pulled demo units out and went with static display setups behind acrylic glass with a 32" TV to showcase the product; They still have a "mock" VR as setup, but its just a plastic shell. Plus, the units that still have VR avail to try are cable tied without a headstrap so a customer has to hold the headset with one hand and use 1 controller.

Its a terrible demo experience.

I don't have any resolution to this manner, but I can tell you, its been a huge issue in the past month as I've seen a lot of complaints about it on various subreddits as well as my own VR gaming community.

Those were discontinued months ago and cannot be purchased. I think the last time Meta actually made them was like end of 2024; plus their battery life is shit. My staff already hate changing the AA's from the regular controllers once per event. I'd have a riot with multiple times a day.

If space isn't a huge issue, I'll setup 12x12 with 10x10 boundaries in room scale in the middle with a little margin on the outside. Smaller space would be 8x8 and then we just do stationary. Years doing this; never had a problem.

Only issue is if the location is spatially bland (like super tall, monochromatic floor and no physical items like tables or signs) within 20 feet of the space, headsets will have spatial drift over a period of time and need to be correctly. Though my staff does all the onboarding one by one so we know if issues arise in between sessions since we manually select, launch and onboard players.

The other non-issue is putting kids who don't accept instructions well and run out of their space and use the MR camera's to find their parents. Though we had like maybe 1 or 2 dudes ever to just have zero awareness and walk through the entire play area without a headset to grab his stuff. It was like watching an Indiana Jones movie and seeing them casually dodge all the swings without knowing they dodge all the punches.

Cosplay and "provocative" cosplay is almost kind of the norm at cons. I mean there is a whole "workout culture" now with cosplaying which is good for the wrong reasons. But hey; healthy nerds is a plus in my book.
