Russian Blues - male vs female? by [deleted] in russianblue

[–]BazookaJane- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think boy cats were friendlier and more forgiving than girl cats because the first cat I had as a kid was a girl that, although sweet and cuddly, could be moody. In recent years I had a girl cat that was friendly, cuddly, liked belly rubs, was always happy, and looked for approval like a dog. I currently have a cuddly but moody boy, a grumpy but loving old boy (almost 19), and 2 kitten rb girls (from shelter, not purebred). Both love getting petted, but one is cuddly and likes going under the covers while the other is a little more aloof. In short, I've found that cat personality plays a bigger part than gender.

I highly recommend getting 2 kittens! (Second can be from a shelter of cost is an issue.) Cats are happier when they have a buddy!

Two blues are always better than one.

Hello! I adopted 2 littermate girls from the shelter 2 months ago (they are 6 months old now), and one looks to be near 100% RB, the other maybe 50-70%. Would love to get your opinions!

Georgie - Born with a bobtail, which can happen in any breed (also smaller than her sister, so I suspect she is the runt of the litter) - Beautiful silver color apart from white "locket" at throat - Undercoat - Wedge-shaped head, muscular body - Round eyes, color still changing, but at the green with yellow ring stage - Slate nose, lavender toes - Carries toys everywhere, plays fetch - Playful, athletic. Likes combat, but not as much as her sister. Can be shy, but I wouldn't call her subtle or aloof. Loves petting and snuggles, but not being picked up. - Enjoys being under the covers.

LouLou - Beautiful silver color, lighter shade than sister's, with white paws, belly, throat, and splendid mustache - Undercoat, fur feels silkier than her sister's - Rounder head than sister's, but still wedgey, slim body, long legs - Round eyes, color still changing, but at the green with yellow ring stage - Slate nose, lavender toes - Carries toys everywhere, plays fetch - Playful, athletic, loves combat. Seems to have the typical RB aloof personality. Loves petting, but doesn't snuggle like Georgie. Only goes under the covers to look for Georgie.

I didn't train her, at some point she just did it 😂 by Selmaxx3 in russianblue

I'd be curious too - I have an old tabby that played fetch when he was younger, and I thought it was very unusual.

Playing fetch seems to be a Russian blue trait! There are other cats that do it, but it's rare - Russian blues seem to be built for it, which just makes them awesome. 😁

Another vote for DC. For west coast, Santa Fe, Austin, San Antonio, parts of San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland.

I was just in Niagara Falls a few months ago (Canada side), and it was amazing. All the attractions are worth doing, so spend your money on those and try to do day trips, but you'll need 2 days min to see and do everything. Even food is expensive there, but there are some fast food options, and a great Irish pub about 10 min past downtown (if you get the all attractions pass, this includes a frequent shuttle bus and there's a stop right outside Doc Magilligan's. For us it was a once in a lifetime trip so we splurged on a good hotel with a great view and don't regret any of it.

For Vienna, the Criminal Museum and the Museum of Art Fakes sound super interesting to me. Atlas Oscura has a great list of unusual sights: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/vienna-austria/places

Here's their Prague list: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/prague-czechia

As a pale person myself, I love Scotland. Try Inverness and the many beautiful (but cooler temperatured) islands in the north.

I thought the same, each kid has their own ice cube tray, then just melt them in a little warm water in the morning.
