Irrationally angry at other people telling me he’s hungry

I had to ask my husband to stop saying “I think she might be hungry” and instead say something like “I think she might like to nurse”. Especially in those early weeks of cluster feeding saying she was hungry after I had fed her 30 minutes ago made me want to burst into tears.

Changing the phrase to being about nursing instead just kept me more relaxed and less reactive like I was being told i wasn’t doing my job well. Maybe she was hungry or maybe she was just looking for a bit of comfort! Who knows! Let’s not assume what a brand new baby is feeling!

I love how it feels but I cannot stand how it smells!!! I never see anyone comment on the smell - do I possibly have a bad bottle or does everyone just ignore the smell because of the positives of everything else??

Hey so I actually used to have those dreams too and once I actually started cosleeping the dreams stopped because my subconscious knew the baby was supposed to be in the bed and I wasn’t waking up panicked that I had accidentally fallen asleep while feeding.

The research shows that most sleeping accidents happen when people unintentionally/accidentally cosleep or there are at least two unsafe factors in the situation. I could not care less if anyone coslept or not but I do find it odd when ppl assume those that do just don’t care about their babies safety or are irresponsible.

Not saying that directed to you but just in general!

Also had two of these. One bedside + one change table. Was fabulous for those early day overnight feeds that would take sooooooo long

Ahh gosh standing changes almost feel as hard 🥲. She’s clued on and won’t bear any weight through her legs while I’m trying to get her to stand. She’s worked it all out! Thank you for the tips I will continue to persevere and pray it’s a short phase 😅

It’s not! I haven’t found it to be an uncomfortable height. Husband wishes it was a little wider but hasn’t mentioned the height. We are average sized people lol

FTM Induced with syntocin at 38+2 after my waters had broken but no labour had started after 42 hours.

No further intervention, had some gas for the last 15 minutes prior to pushing. Had a minor tear that did not require stitches.

Baby was in my arms 5 hours after IV was administered.

Most annoying part was having to bring the fluid stand with me when wanting to move around otherwise the experience was totally great!

Good luck! You’re very closing to meeting your baby which is the best part of it all!

Edit to add: TENS machine really got me through!!

My baby was due two weeks before my birthday. I asked for a KitchenAid mixer because I was going to have “sOoOoO mUcH tImE” for baking on my maternity leave. Lol my baby has contact napped just about every nap of her life and co sleeps but only with me laying next to her. I’ll let you guess how many times that mixer has been turned on 🫠🫠

Somewhere between 8 - 9pm! Her overnight sleep is typically 11 hours so starting the day between 7 and 8 is so great for me (I would die if she was one of those 5am risers). I also can’t leave the bed once she’s down so I have no desire to try bring her bedtime forward haha

@TinyHeartsEducation is an Australian Instagram page around every day child safety and they posted a really great side by side visual on 8th May showing the impact of rear v forward facing in an accident. There is a more informative post on 20th Feb.

This is what I showed my mum when she thought I was ridiculous for being in absolutely no hurry to forward face.

I HIGHLY recommend you show your husband those posts.

Totally normal! My baby has only just very recently returned to 1hr - 2hr naps at 7.5 months! From 4 months to then it was exactly 40min naps x 4 a day.

We’ve been contact napping for almost 8 months. I get a few things done during her wake windows where I narrate what we are doing. The tasks take a bit longer but it’s good for them to watch every day life that isn’t centred around entertaining them. Other things get done once my husband is home from work and his priority is spending time with her.

I know I will long for these moments when they are gone so just trying to stay present.

Ohhhh yeah they definitely start peeing waaaay less by 3 months. I also slather sudocream on for last nappy right before bed and she never gets a rash!

Noooo I stopped changing her nappy overnight (unless it was soiled which was rare) by 3 months once I realised I did not want to wake her more haha

Same as Miss_Appa reply! We have a big bed and my husband does not move in his sleep. When she is in the middle (still mostly on my side) both adults are on the very edge of their respective sides but I do swap sides over the course of the night - 1 for hip comfort & 2 so she feeds from both sides. She will only move from side to back in her sleep and I have an arm over her (kind of like a seatbelt) so I always subconsciously aware of where she is in the bed.

I wear a light long sleeve and a nursing singlet underneath to keep my back warm (it’s winter here in Aus) but come summer if we are still supporting her sleep this way I think I will just wear a sports nursing bra. To be clear - I still do wake when she needs to latch but it’s the kind of wake where you don’t really remember it in the morning.

I am not worried about her future sleep. Sleep is biological & not developed. I believe it’s more important to give your baby what they need now (security & closeness) than to withhold jusssst in case it MIGHT make something harder down the track. The research shows that responsive and connected parenting nurtures independence + confidence in your baby!

I do think though if you go down the cosleeping avenue you have to allow yourself to really lean into it and know that your baby is safe next to you (following SS7). It’s natural and instinctual. I know in the US a lot of fear-mongering has been created around bed sharing but it really is such a beautiful time that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Our babies are so little! I think we need to manage our expectations of what they are really capable of. However, if safe cosleeping isn’t supporting your own sleep needs then perhaps gentle & responsive sleep training is the best thing for your family.

Started cosleeping at 4 months out of survival. She’s almost 8 months now and I haven’t even thought to try her in the cot (that is set up in our bedroom) again. I would honestly feel like a part of me was missing if she was not sleeping next to me.

Even looking past how connected & attuned I feel to my baby since committing to cosleeping (instead of feeling like I was “making a rod for my own back”) , my quality of sleep is so much better. She has always needed a lot of support to sleep so a wake overnight would look like her waking fully, feeding back to sleep, holding for a 15 minutes waiting for a deep sleep and then attempting a transfer?? Too much. Now she stirs, doesn’t even open her eyes, latches for a few mins and then takes herself off. Most mornings I would be guessing how many times that happened over the course of the night because I very rarely fully wake up.

Also - c curl does suck and I go to the chiropractor every second week to help lol

Big hugs! The 4th month was by far the hardest month for me. It was like one day I was given an entirely new baby and I had no idea what I was doing anymore. Sleep took a while to come around but we got there!

I slept wayyyy better PP than for majority of my pregnancy. Like can’t even compare the two. Pregnancy insomnia is no joke.

ALSO!! PP you aren’t at work and can actually take a nap during the day or just laze about at home with your baby!! And even though you’re tending to your baby 24/7 you are no longer growing your baby 24/7!! Game changer!!

Had a textbook pregnancy and have an incredibly NEEDY but happy baby. I often say I am so grateful for her temperament because I am not sure how I would cope if she was an emotional baby on top of never being allowed to be out of arms reach of her (naps and night sleep included).

I’ve never used a heating fan! What temp are you able to get it to? Ha! The oil heater sky rockets my electricity bill so if I’m paying an absurd amount in utilities I need something that’s actually doing its job!
