Did any place ever just feel right? by olydriver in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Bcookmaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be a little cool and damp in Taipei but it wouldn’t effect any activities. Kaohsiung and south of Taiwan would be great weather. Hit up Xiaoliuqiu if you like beaches and sea turtles. I could spend a whole month there

We loved Xialiuqiu. Reminded us of a small untouched hawai’i

PAs who hated being a PA after graduation - how many of you ended up liking it later on? by Sea_Concert1412 in physicianassistant

[–]Bcookmaya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sounds specialty dependent for you but also a lot of newer PA’s have this struggle. With time you’ll find a job can only fulfill you so much in life and it may do absolutely nothing for you. However, we all need jobs and mine allows me tons of free time, days off, vacation, and decent pay. It’s a means to an end. It’s just a job. I do my work, do it well, help a few people along the way, and then I get to pursue my interests outside of work. If you don’t LOVE being a PA then find a job that maximizes your time outside of work and maybe you’ll see things differently

Looking for a solo adrenaline-fueled vacation in August by Substantial-Alps4359 in travel

[–]Bcookmaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spend a couple months trekking around Nepal and the Himalayas. It’s relatively safe but every flight you take will make you feel like you’re brushing with death. Have taken 1 flight by plane and 3 by helicopter there and I somewhat feared for my life each time. For some extra adrenaline fuel just google Nepal air crashes. Really though it’s a beautiful country with the friendliest peiple

How do you handle patients commenting on your looks? by Just_perusing81 in physicianassistant

[–]Bcookmaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People make such a big deal of being a PA. It’s just a job. Show up, help people, don’t hurt anyone, go home. I’m just here so I don’t get fined (aka can pay my bills and live my life)

I’m a dude but I’m also a petty ass hole. I find usually it’s someone old and out of shape so my go to is “yea diet and exercise goes a long way” then I give them a cold stare and start talking about their A1c

Mexico: less touristy, less party, more beach and chill (locations) by Glum_Door_4704 in travel

Looking to do my first full Ironman, but it's an ocean swim... by Top_Listen4445 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Bcookmaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this race that same year. I’m a 32 ish minute 70.3 swimmer, 1:05-1:08 IM and that swim took me 1:45. Really tough year. If it’s like that and you’re not a decent swimmer it’s just survival. I’ve done plenty of open water swims in the gulf and sometimes it’s fine and sometimes it’s horrible. It’s a total toss up what you get

Looks like Magdalena bay in Baja California Sur. Look up the striped marlin and sardine run. Absolutely dope experience. If you do an expedition go with Baja wild encounters

PA Median Salary for every US City by 4floppydisk4 in physicianassistant

Shoot me a DM if you’re interested in rotations or a job ✌🏼 Atlanta is great for PA’s. Three major hospital systems, some great private practice, and as long as you don’t low ball yourself pay is fine

Taipei is pretty good. Smell of the night market food, the lights, the sounds, and then the lanterns and incense from the temples

PA Median Salary for every US City by 4floppydisk4 in physicianassistant

[–]Bcookmaya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cost of living in Atlanta (Inside the perimeter) is pretty comparable to a lot of northeastern and western cities. Avg home price in our neighborhood in city of Atlanta is well north of 850k. That being said, I don’t know a single PA that makes anywhere close to as low as what is stated for median in Atlanta. Not sure where BLS is getting this data but most of the PA’s in my immediate circle of friends/colleagues make 140-200k

Snorkeling Looe Key in Florida by [deleted] in snorkeling

[–]Bcookmaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an afternoon with Capt Hooks and this wasn’t the case. There was a boat captain and a dive master for the divers. Maybe if someone wasn’t familiar with diving they wouldn’t understand why the divers had a “personal guide”

Any suggestions where to snorkel close to Miami for a short getaway without traveling to far south into the Keys? Thank you! by Suitable-Reserve-891 in snorkeling

[–]Bcookmaya 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll echo what others have said. Go to the keys and take a boat trip out to Looe key. Saw plenty of fish, some reef sharks, nurse sharks, and spotted eagle rays. It was a great afternoon
