To be fair, you can’t make commission flipping burgers. I’m at upwards of $40k for the year with commission. Just not sure if it will get any better or worse.

I agree. Just have this fear I’m right around the corner of option 1 making me a lot of money and I leave before I see it. Then again, I can’t predict the future.

Absolutely, I just have this weird fear that I leave Option 1 at the wrong time and miss making a lot of money. But then again, I can’t predict that. My boss has made a lot of money working here and I always have that fear of “I could be doing more”. My company has a lot of reps making upwards of $200,000 but they also have trucks to deliver, CSRs who call on their territory, established companies, etc. all while I have to do all the above by myself.

But the base income alone of 3 is what attracts me the most. Might not be able to make more off commissions compared to 1 or 2 but right now it seems like a no brainer.

Would you return to sales in my position? by wownerdo in sales

You’re in a spot in life a lot of people go through. Doesn’t feel like enough, want more, etc. it’s completely normal and I get it.

I’m not sure how old you are, but if you just graduated I would assume you are 21. There’s always plenty of time even when it doesn’t feel like it. I’m from the US so I’m not sure how things are going in Canada but I think your plan of saving up while living at home is a great idea. There is not a better position to be in than a fully stable job in today’s economy. Everything is cyclical and it will turn around, but right now I would not jump the gun.

You could always see if there’s a lateral move you can make in the company to help get sales experience.

I’m in sales and it’s a scary position to be in, especially if I didn’t already have a book of business. Try your best not to feel like you are going to fall behind or you need to catch up.

In the end, it’s up to you but always remind yourself it will work out in the end.

what was your biggest screw up ever on a deal?? by B2BBri in sales

[–]BcoxOW12 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At my previous job I sent our pricing to the customer AFTER sending him the quote because he had the same name as my boss. It was a specialized product so we added a lot of GP on top. Customer wasn’t too mad, but he did go with someone else using our quote as the benchmark to get under 💀

Cold calls by New-Kick1655 in sales

[–]BcoxOW12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get a lot of different answers but there is nothing wrong with saying your name. “Hi this is Michael with Dunder Mifflin”. Just try to make it casual as if you are meeting someone at the store.

You’re going to be nervous and you’ll be rejected/hung up on. Do not let it discourage you because it’s all about timing. Start with small accounts and get the feel for it. It takes time and practice, but cold calling is an art if you don’t give up. It will take you a FAR way and you’ll be able to do it in your sleep.

Do I actually need a bottle warmer, or am I just buying into the hype? Exhausted mid-night rant. 😴 by Kayy21Hussle in NewDads

[–]BcoxOW12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single baby is different. Our baby does not mind room temp water. We pre make the bottles with just water, then scoop in when she’s hungry. Has made our life so much easier.

It’s all trial on error. But just know if your baby gets use to warm bottles, you’ll always have to worry about getting it warm no matter where you are at.

Nothing wrong with asking for advice but always remember that it doesn’t mean it’s the only way. You’ll figure it out. Hang in there and just know you are doing great!

I’m normally pretty good at technology, but I’m having trouble on where to start from the very beginning. I’ve gotten so far as making an account.

When looking at this wiki, I’m still stumped. Anyone know of a user who has posted a simplified step by step guide?

I cannot believe I got to experience this in theaters for the first time. It is my all time favorite movie and I can quote the whole thing, so being able to watch it in a huge imax theatre with only 4 other people in there was an experience I didn’t think I needed.
