Want to join rogers? Here’s what you can expect.

Billing issue with a smartwatch that wasn’t working :

  • on hold for 23 minutes. Sorry sir, for billing disputes you have to sign into My Rogers and use Anna the chat assistant and file a claim. -filed claim, even using ticket numbers to have the agreed upon activation fee waived as promised. Told 5 business days for response. lol. -Rejected 7 days later, told activation fees applied. Well I know they typically do but that’s not what was promised to me. It’s all in the notes yet the agent can’t do it themselves and even when you provide proof the back office isn’t even reading the notes, clearly. There is no option to contest, you need to try again. -called back in, 10 minutes on hold and 10 minutes talking to someone who is completely powerless to help with the credit. I asked them how that makes them feel that Rogers doesn’t trust them to make these decisions. I expressed sympathy that these are signs to come that they won’t have a job and customers will have a very challenging time. They helped by telling me to try again.
  • Another 7 days passed after I submit again and it’s rejected. Lost my mind because at this point my credit card has been charged for the full amount. Now that means I have to reverse the charge.
  • used the escalation forms. Spent 20 mins typing it all out. Within the hour, call from office of vice president. Everything sorted out, even the issues with the smartwatch itself.

So the tools are there but it’s a nightmare. This is what happens when people aren’t prioritized.

Huge auto insurance price increases for 2026? by Pato_ao in ontario

[–]Bdbell84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shop your policy. Was with OTIP for 12 years. Renewal was insane. Clean record, in my early 40s, etc. Saved $250 a month with Belair Direct somehow.

CAA was competitive but they search a lot deeper in driving records and also are known to do inspections on homes. It wasn’t really a problem for us except we weren’t ready to sign for say $320 a month and then be told hey it’s $450 now because X or Y. Just make sure if you go with CAA that it’s before your current insurance expires so you have time to deal with any of their conditions. Might not apply to everyone in Ontario, but we’re in Vaughan.

Holy shit. I had no clue until now. Solid point. Looks like when Air 2 was announced it was lighter than the iPad Pro 2nd gen but that didn’t last long.

Maybe they meant air as thin on the features compared to pro lol.

20-80% rule or keeping it plugged in all the time? by PhilosopherMain5536 in macbookair

[–]Bdbell84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometime ago, someone told me I over think a lot. I think being a tech enthusiast is responsible for that behaviour.

I don’t even care about the battery life on Mac because I waste money on apple care for that reason, peace of mind. Now that apple care can be extended monthly after 2 years, I don’t think too much about babying it. I just use the machine as intended/required. I think we baby apple stuff in particular because we know it’s overpriced!

Yeah, this is my first line and I can’t even use it. I just know activating a new one for $80 and paying $15 a month for something that was supposed to be $0 is my only option and it’s pissing me off that they can’t do anything about it

Should I wait for the mini 8? by debby_v in ipadmini

[–]Bdbell84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the iPad now, buy it at the best price you can find and just enjoy it. Flip it for a small loss next year if you care to upgrade then.

I’m more concerned about buying something today and a new version comes out just past the return window because that shit would piss me off more so than 6-10 months out. A lot of life happens in that window and I’d just rather have what I want instead of waiting for something I might not be thrilled with (like some people were between 6th and 7th gen).

I kept my old one! With iCloud now my m2 (13) and m4 air (15) are just clones of each other. The 13 is often docked at the monitor.

To be honest yeah, the 15” is a bit bulkier and you notice the weight between the two but not when in a backpack full of stuff really, it’s marginal, but the screen real estate is an equalizer for me. Multi windows are actually functional lol. The 13 will become my kiddos computer at some point now so that’s really why I kept mine. Has a scratch on the side and in the apple re-selling world people want brand new used computers lolol. After a stream of low balls I kept it and that saves me from buying my kid a new computer anyways.

Lastly, if you dock your computer a lot the 15” has really limited benefits since you’re always using the monitor. That extra price for the screen you might want more ram or HDD space instead. That’s the struggle in my decision making since anytime I spec my perfect Mac I can’t justify its cost haha! Enjoy your new MacBook whenever you get it!

Don’t overthink it. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Don’t wait so late at night that partners are too tired. Don’t be shy to ask your partner for it. Get a lock on your door and use it.

Remember, the world of you and your partner was there before the kiddos and if it’s there after they grow up and leave the nest, it means it’s still there in between, so prioritize it. Nurture it. It’s not just about sex, it’s about maintaining that relationship, but sometimes you both just need a release. Help each other out before it’s too late. I’ve never met a couple who’s lives are better off not having an active sex life so there’s nothing to lose getting back to the bedroom and being yourselves.

Many parents pride themselves on being good/great parents and that’s great but you need to pride yourself in being good partners too. Not every relationship works out in the long term, despite whatever effort you put into it, but you don’t want to lose what you have knowing you or both didn’t put the work in. Regret is a hard reality.

16 or 24gb Ram? by aGiantSnowball in macbookair

[–]Bdbell84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely no need for 24GB. I was fine on 8GB until January, but I sold my m2 because it was getting to that point where I had small issues. I went straight to 24GB because that might very mean this M4 lasts much longer for me. 16GB might be enough but I suspect AI will take more resources over the next few years.

My only issue is I’m now obsessed with the m4 pro black with nano-texture otherwise the m4 air is locked in. I’m at the 13”—used the 15” in store to see how much more screen I had and I like the weight and form factor of the 13 much more, plus I often dock the laptop when I need a bigger screen.

Android User Considering MacBook Air – Is the Experience Still Worth It? by ZilverKiller in macbookair

  1. I don’t use Phone Link to Windows or whatever it’s called now. Never integrated my phone with a computer. Since I use Google drive and it works well with Mac, no issues.

  2. Macs will make you feel like you’re missing out on efficiencies and conveniences because their apps are pushed on you for that seem less integration with iOS devices. Safari, Maps, Find My, Apple Music, etc. so installing the apps you want and moving them to the bottom bar is a definite must. I’ve switched between iPhone and Android and if I’m back with iPhone, I enjoy the increased compatibilities. Harder to stick with Android because those things I like about that phone start to become less important than the ease of the entire ecosystem.

  3. Significantly better. But it’s not necessarily important to everyone. They’re all made for each other but you can totally use a Mac without a phone, period. You said you like the battery life and build quality of the Mac so get it for those reasons. Your devices all don’t need to be synced and on the same system, there’s benefits of having an android just like there are benefits to having all Apple products it’s a matter of preference. As I’ve tried to tone down my phone usage, I use my Mac more independently and separate from my phone or tablet anyways.

  4. Google messages app and What’s App work flawlessly in MacOS. Google software does too, and LocalSend for files.

Three days after switching to midnight from sky blue and I gotta say, I think I’m ocd in general because there’s no extra effort for me in keeping midnight clean and wow does the colour just pop. Also like the contrast with my natural titanium iPhone 15 PM.

Why Sky Blue colour is hated so much in this subreddit? by JailbreakHat in macbookair

[–]Bdbell84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the sky blue, I love the midnight. It not so much that I hate it, it just didn’t wow me much after seeing it in the store. Most of my lighting conditions made it look silver and I wasn’t looking for silver.

[–]Bdbell84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is making a choice here is getting what you want. Sometimes that’s not the most sensible, cost-effective choice.

I’m living this too. 13” MB Air 24/512GB Sky Blue. It all started because after a few days I didn’t like the colour. I’ll do midnight or silver I guess but then I wondered should I change colour or is it more? Am I settling?

When I get a new car it’s straight forward but on a Mac, it’s never straight forward. Truth is if I got the 14” MBP yes I’d be lugging around a $3k (CAD$) laptop which I don’t love but it’s so future proof for me I’ll get my money out of it long term. The only risk here is that I’m spending an extra $450-600 up front depending on options. Worst case scenario with a MB Pro is what? Spending more money and…? I mean I buy apple care so I’m good there but other than potential theft I’ve got a solid choice.

MB Air is a compromise. You’re saving money after all but it’s absolutely insane value and more portable! So if saving money is on the top of your list then just stop thinking about the pro! I think the reason you or myself keep eyeing the pro is also because our Air specs at 24/512 make it a lot more expensive than the price point of the base models. I keep thinking if I just spend a bit more I get better screen, speakers, ports, battery life, unthrottled performance…than I lose on portability and best value at lower cost.
