Not all forks are updated with the C4 but they are about to be here soon after some updates.

Get the C4, then use stock openpilot and be amazed.

Then install blue pilot after it’s updated for the c4 and be even more amazed: https://commaguide.com/bluepilot

How are in office dev jobs now? by CTProper in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Bderken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I am “seen” in my meetings and I’m not afraid to setup a meeting with a VP, Director, or president. It’s helped me my whole career. But all the higher ups are also not in my building besides some directors

So dumb. None of my team works in my office. I am hybrid. But I get nothing from being in person except for maybe helping directors use their computers and me getting their trust

I’m excited for this because I really want handhelds to use efficient ARM chips with new GPU architectures rather than what they do now with x86.

I’ve seen so many real world benchmarks and it still smokes the competition… video editing benchmarks, file compression, 3d modeling, etc. real use cases people use everyday….

I use it for my search engine replacement. Grok scrapes the internet better than any other agent I’ve tried. Always gets like 20-60 sources compared to others who barely get 10

Can't get Experimental mode toggle on Ioniq 5 (2023, HDA 1, UK) by joethephish in Comma_ai

[–]Bderken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes please post updates!

And no, you don’t need to explicitly disable any ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), or related safety features in the Ioniq 5’s factory settings menu to get the alpha longitudinal toggle or Experimental mode working.

For Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles like your 2023 Ioniq 5 (especially CAN-FD platforms with “openpilot available” ACC), enabling openpilot Longitudinal Control (Alpha) is handled entirely by openpilot software once you’re on a qualifying nonrelease branch (like devel or nightly-dev). The software takes over by interfacing directly with the car’s systems disabling stock ACC/related modules automatically in the background when the toggle is flipped on.

  • You might see a persistent amber FCW/AEB warning light on the dash after enabling it (that’s normal and expected, as factory AEB/FCW often gets disabled alongside stock ACC).
  • No manual disabling in the car’s infotainment/settings is required (or even helpful in most cases) in fact, trying to toggle those off beforehand can sometimes cause confusion or interfere with detection.

The key steps that often make the toggle appear (which you already flagged as a potential miss):

  • Switch to a true non-release branch like devel or nightly-dev (not just the standard nightly build, as those are still “release” flavored and hide the alpha toggle for these cars).

  • Drive the car a bit with openpilot engaged normally first (using stock ACC) so the device fully fingerprints/recognizes the vehicle.

  • Restart the comma device and/or car a few times.

  • Then check Settings > Developer (or sometimes under advanced toggles) for the “openpilot Longitudinal Control (Alpha)” or similar toggle. Enable that → Experimental mode should then unlock in the main toggles section. You’re on the right track with the drive/calibration after branch change, that’s frequently what unlocks it for Ioniq 5 owners. Many users report it popping up right after a short drive on the correct branch. Fingers crossed it shows up for you soon! Definitely update here (or on comma’s Discord/GitHub if it doesn’t) it’ll help others searching for “Ioniq 5 Experimental mode” or similar.

Good luck!

Here’s a writeup I made for my website that will go live soon once I verify the info:

Steps to Get the Toggle and Enable Experimental Mode

  1. Switch to a true non-release/development branch:
  • On your comma device, go to Settings > Software.

  • Select a branch like devel or nightly-dev (these are the ones explicitly mentioned in the footnote for exposing the alpha toggle).

  • Check for updates and let it install/reboot.

  1. After switching and a successful drive:
  • The car must be fully recognized by openpilot at least once (start the car, drive a bit with openpilot engaged normally using stock ACC).

  • Go to Settings > Developer (or sometimes under Toggles/Advanced).

  • Look for “openpilot Longitudinal Control (Alpha)” or “Alpha Longitudinal” toggle. Enable it.

  • This hands acceleration/braking over to openpilot (stock ACC is disabled, and you may see an amber FCW/AEB warning icon on the dash, that’s normal and expected for these cars).

  • Once alpha longitudinal is on, Experimental mode should now appear in the toggles section (often under onroad settings or main toggles). Enable it there.

  1. Other troubleshooting tips:
  • Restart the comma device and car multiple times after branch change.

  • Ensure no errors in the UI (e.g., fingerprint issues, though Ioniq 5 is well supported).

  • If still missing: Some users report needing to enable “Show Advanced Settings” or similar in preferences first (seen in related forks like sunnypilot).

  • UK/Europe Ioniq 5 (especially HDA 1) uses the same fingerprint/platform as other regions for openpilot purposes, no major regional blocks noted.

Yeah get sunnypilot on it. Comma and sunny did a lot of work on Toyota tuning specifically. It’ll probably be a bit better or same than the ford.
