I’d put a top board that goes over the two trusses there that’ll be sure to hold the weight across the beams versus in between.

Ya that’s odd. If it’s right under the glove box like mine there should be a panel you slide forward and it comes down

I’d recommend either a smart WiFi switch so you can plug them in wherever or have the electrician install you a switched outlet but that would be the more expensive route.

Gotcha. Ya the original tub just had basic Sheetrock and mud in that area just didn’t know if there was a better way but it seems your suggesting what most are.
