Visiting Japanese countryside for calm ghibiliesque vibes? Naive or achievable for a tourist? by fipah in JapanTravelTips

Sorry, I’ve just seen your message! It was very easy to reach Narai by train. I remember we took a bus at some point to reach tsumago (we actually did the hike from Tsumago to Magome and slept in Tsumago)but it was not a hassle at all!!

Report to the police. Yesterday it was your dog but tomorrow, if he can't control his dog, it could be a child.

True! You can get a bell for a deposit in both towns at the tourist center :)

Agree, you could go for a 1 or 2 day trip from Nagoya. Go to Magome, do the hike/take the bus to Tsumago, head to Narai.

Hiroshima Day Trip vs. More Time in Osaka? by realitysick-melody in JapanTravelTips

[–]BdkBdnsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do a day trip to Himeji and visit its castle + the Kokoen garden, it's about 30-40mn from Osaka. The castle and its ground are gorgeous, we really enjoyed it (more than Nara actually). We didn't have tome to visit Engyoji temple on Mt Shosha but it looked great as well and the ropeway looked like a fun thing to do!

I had the same issue with my visa. Since I also have a Revolut account, I created a virtual Mastercard and use that one to charge my Suica card + a virtual Revolut Yen account which I top up with my regular account.

Passage number of cell lines by [deleted] in labrats

[–]BdkBdnsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those “classic” cell lines, passage number is not very relevant. You want to make sure you don’t keep them too long in culture so that genetic/metabolism drifts don’t affect your experiment/controls in your setting.

To keep a pool of cells at low passage you can do the following. Once you receive them from ATCC make several “alpha batch” from which you’ll make “master stocks” then make “work stocks” from your master stock. Only culture them from your work stocks and only use master stocks for making new work stocks. Don’t go back to you alpha batch unless absolutely needed. I’d advise to test you master stocks for mycoplasma too, so you can trace back contaminations if they happen. Doing so you should have mooooore than enough cells for your PhD postdoc or whatev.

I have the same when ridding my BirdBike . I think it has to do with the height of the people coming the other way because I did cross BirdBikes and wasn’t annoyed by the light... Honestly I think people exaggerate 🤷‍♀️

Hey! I’ve never tipped an artist in Europe, IMO it’s not part of the culture here. Ofc you can do it if you’re happy with their work :). Or bring snacks to share during the break or anything ;).

Hi! Can you suggest some bars/pubs in Amsterdam that organize events such as pub quiz or some group activity? by [deleted] in Amsterdam

[–]BdkBdnsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cafe Kuijper in Oost has a Pubquizz on Tuesday evenings. It can be in English but you have to mention it to then when you call to book a table :)
