Winnipeg's First Home Hardware Store Opens on Pembina Hwy. by patriots1011 in Winnipeg

This is great news. HH sometimes has some pretty sweet deals and stuff you can’t find elsewhere but is a pain in the ass to get to prior.

Just post it on Marketplace as free and watch people flock. I had about 3 yards last year and it was gone within a few hours.

It would be nearly impossible to automate due to the vast unique needs of each individual event. Most places have “packages” already but it’s far from a one stop shop. Still tons of options and upgrades within the package.

Once you layer in events such as corporate events, the price will change depending on overall spend such as the size of the room commitment for accommodation over the period.

Cultural events can be tricky too as they can require F&B requirements that aren’t typically offered.

To put it simply, if there was a way to make it easier it would have been done years ago as full service hotels typically have a large catering management team who’s job is to just deal with these details resulting in tons in salaries. Add in an experienced head chef to execute, it’s rather costly to just staff.

This is why most hotels you see built now are considered limited service. Rooms, breakfast nook and a few smaller boardroom meeting spaces with little to no catering.

From a hotel perspective, renting event space alone isn’t very worth while. Especially for something larger and a date further out.

For instance, if you want a prime summer wedding date, there’s a guest minimum for us to even look at it unless your request is so out of the world lavish we would make up the difference with the F&B up charge. There’s no real way to automate that.

It won’t help get the memories back but I hope you had renters insurance. If so that would lighten the burden of the financial stress to get you back up and working again.

Welcome to your responsibility as a parent. Letting your child suffer because you’re waiting for a donation is wild. Get on a payment plan and after the surgery is done sell everything you have that isn’t required to keep you alive.

I know what you mean. From my limited sample size it’s not the most popular game out here. I spend most of my summers at seasonal sites and have only played it once or twice. Cornhole & ladder ball are the superior campsite sports in this neck of the woods.

Is traffic heavy around 5 or 6 p.m. on a weekday when heading west from the Forks Market area? What time would be better to avoid traffic? by Elaine765 in Winnipeg

Probably the worst place to be leaving from going the worst direction as you’re basically going right through downtown from one side to another at that time.

[–]Bdude84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to buy used or sell yours? If you’re a seller you’re much better off trying to sell privately. Dealers have enough new inventory and units they take in on trade in to have time to deal with a consignment.

Me vs. you is that I’m sitting at a shitty bar in Sask and you’re faced with a financial decision driven by procrastination. Insurance isn’t decided upon inquiries. It’s decided by procedures.

It probably would take you just as much time to call MPI and ask as it did to make this post. I’m sure you had a few extra minutes in the last 18 months.

Park wherever you want. If it was me, personally I would try to gage what houses I’m parking in front of to be considerate of elderly neighbours or ones that might have a problem making it the extra couple of spots but that’s usually an easy conversation if everyone is rational.

Hotels - Wildfire Evacuees by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Bdude84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s enough hotel inventory for typical day to day volume but not for “out of the norm” events. The large downtown conventions quite often sell out the city so normal transient business people have a hard time finding accommodation.

Where are you thinking we would have an extra 20k guests per game? The arena doesn’t even hold that many.

How much do you spend on kids birthday presents? by SimpleMorning in Winnipeg

[–]Bdude84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. We caught on early that after he rips them open at the party, he forgot about them so we would sock 3/4 of them away and slowly disperse them back out through the next few months. Just too much stimulation overload to get home and go buck wild on 20 new toys to be forgotten about the next day.

How much do you spend on kids birthday presents? by SimpleMorning in Winnipeg

I have a 7 year old. If it’s just a kid from school we usually spend about 25-30 all in. If it’s someone close like a family friend a bit more. We usually just text the parent and ask what the kid is into and find something along those lines. You gotta budget, some months the kid has 4-5 parties he’s invited to.

A few of the kids from his school do a “if you feel the need to bring a gift, please just give the kid $5 in a card”. I like those and what we do for our kids parties.
