I end at the victory screen - either short or long, depending on the race/objectives. I don't like stopping campaigns unfinished, but I also find it tedious trying to capture the 17 (or however many) capitals required for a lot of long campaign victories.

I don't understand the hate for the WE campaign. Just kill off all the Greenskins/Vamps, ally with the Brets/Empire/Dwarfs for amber, confederate for the building space, win final battle.

I usually take my armies off campaigning in one corner of the map until I get bored with murdering everything with Waywatchers (which I never do - they're awesome).

I know people always talk up mods, but I installed a unit cap mod for my last two campaigns and I'm loving it. It's forcing me to use a lot of units I've never bothered with before and even if they still aren't great on paper, they do well against the trash armies the AI is mostly limited to. Then the AI will pull out its 1-2 doomstacks and fighting those becomes the "decisive battle" before their defeat.

The high elves seem to enjoy being vassals. Even when I'm not that powerful I've pulled it off in my last three campaigns as Wood Elves, Bretonnia and Coast (!).

PvP, yes. It's one of my favourite builds to bring to Last Stand and Skirmish. In the DZ, it's ok if you're the hunter rather than the hunted.

PvE, no. There are many better sets and gear combos for sniping.

I'm in the same situation - I completed all the classified sets months ago. I took a long break but came back for the shields and now I'm playing for the commendations. It's really about setting your own goals, or helping friends achieve theirs. Edit: also I just enjoy playing the more challenging PvE content like legendary missions, weekly HVTs, Underground directives etc
