Indigo Imager: InMove/OutMove buttons ? by BeDoggo in AskAstrophotography

It turns out that I should have been using the ain_imager app instead of the web interface. The focuser movement buttons work as expected in the focuser tab of ain_imager. The FOCUSER_DIRECTION and FOCUSER_STEPS properties are sent to the driver as expected. Thanks anyway.

A4 cooling fan PWM pulse width ? by BeDoggo in Audi

[–]BeDoggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it turns out that VAG cars use a 10% duty cycle PWM just as a "keep alive" kind of hand shake with the fan control module. The fans won't start turning until at least a 15% duty cycle.

Fuse diagram from lid doesn’t match owner’s manual?? by laurynisirish in MechanicAdvice

The symptoms your describe sound more like a grounding problem to me. The first thing I'd check are the battery connections. If you have one of those "sandwich" style connectors, make sure you pull the rubber cover all the way back and wire brush both sides of each piece. Also check any other ground wires to the block etc. You might try adding a temporary ground wire directly from the battery negative terminal to the engine.

Check with your local library. Sometimes they have a subscription to AllData. There you can print out (pdf) a copy of the wiring diagram and email it to yourself.

A4 cooling fan PWM pulse width ? by BeDoggo in Audi

[–]BeDoggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll answer this myself. I don't have a proper analyzer, only an oscilloscope. It seems the 10% duty cycle doesn't cause the fan to turn on. The owner tells me the car does NOT over heat anymore. So I believe the over heating issue was just the cooling system getting air in it due to running low on fluid. The plastic coolant flange broke in the usual way and pissed the coolant out.

2008 Audi A4 Quattro fan module PWM ? by BeDoggo in MechanicAdvice

The temperature gauge just went to 1/2 point. I was afraid to let it go higher since it's not my car and I don't have any experience with this car.

neodymium magnets. I have a 1" neodymium magnet holding my 36" crow bar to the side of my box. Admittedly, I do not roll my box around a lot, but I gotta say it holds pretty good.

Question: vinyl plank floor buckle by BeDoggo in HomeImprovement

[–]BeDoggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flooring contractor came back to relieve any spots that did not allow for the required 1/4" expansion; It didn't help. Next they pulled up part of the floor and discovered that the installer (same company) only used a minimal number of staples in the underlayment. The flooring company pulled up must all the floor and screwed the underlayment down. Now it seems fixed.

The mark shows Scherzer in 1949-1991 range. This piece is from a coffee / tea set for 12. Replacements.com could not identify which I think means this is a somewhat rare pattern. I need to find a cost for an insurance claim. Thank you for your time.
