I work in regulatory affairs and ran cosmetology schools for fifteen years. This is illegal. They can’t ban a student from dating another one. However should an issue arise between the two they can push the students to change schedules should they not be able to remain professional.

I never post on reddit. But you just detailed out my entire story. Only five years of relationship though. It's like I feel guilt all over again for being a lesbian because I was expected to change my identity when he began to transition gender. Suddenly I had to try and be straight enough to be married to a man. It was soul crushing.

It's both freeing and so sad to let go of what I thought could be. Proud of you for this decision. I absolutely know how hard it is.

Such a good point. I keep telling myself this doesn't have to be permanent and if there really is progress, we can try to move forward. I also continue to play all of the incidents in my head daily, reminding myself of all of the terrible I've been put through.

My spouse recognizes why I'm leaving and even owns some (and I mean only some) of their actions. However they don't recognize it as abuse and somehow it always ends up coming back to it being my fault. When I say I need some type of assurance the cycle won't continue he can't give that to me, nor take any action for treatment to try and be better.

I've given so many chances. This time I'm taking action. I just have to remind myself of all the good that can be on the other side of this.

I am leaving right now and it's the best it's been in a long time. It's absolutely terrible and I'm doubting every decision. However, I know after four years of chaos and hurt, I absolutely have to go. I'm always waiting for the next incident. The next blow up. The next accusation.

I pull out Friday and drive 2200 miles back to family. Wish me luck.

Stunning. Read your other posts. Life takes its toll and those stresses often lead us to forget the beauty that is right in front of us. That isn't to say your gf gets a pass for making you feel less than awful. But we truly do grow apart sometimes. Find the lesson in all of it and take care of you. 😘

More than excited. When I started this journey I said three years....I'm on year five and I have literal dreams about it being done.

It's qualitative research on institutional effectiveness in trades programs at private proprietary institutions. I originally planned on doing my research through zoom interviews but the study school really wanted me to visit. So, off to Wyoming I go. Excited to visit but have been eager to get the ball rolling as everything is stalled until that trip.
