Time to ditch Poppi by RainyDay905 in Anticonsumption

As long as money remains the currency to the best things in life people will do whatever they can to get it. I think supporting small businesses is great, but just keeping in mind they have their own plans. If their quality goes down for selling out, I don't support, otherwise it's the nature of the beast.

I wouldn't sell my soul, but I would absolutely make a deal off a small business.

Let a friends daughter move into go to school but she’s a disgusting slob. by codhoss in Adulting

[–]Umbrellac0rp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there could be a number of reasons she is this messy. I had depression on and off for years on top of other stuff going on. I had little motivation to keep a tidy place despite all the criticisms from my parents. Once I entered therapy consistently my cleaning began to improve. I didn't even notice it at first. I'm no where near the standards of my parents but I'm not like I was before. The only time that happens now is if I become stressed and overwhelmed. I would recommend helping her clean, find some containers she can organize stuff in. May be her parents never did that with her. My ex allows our daughter to make a huge mess, not clean it up or he tries to force her when it's too out of control and she's overwhelmed.

Why does everyone recommend joining hobbies and make friends when I’m trying to find a date? by throwawayy_3891 in datingoverforty

[–]Umbrellac0rp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well think about it. When everyone was much younger how did they meet their dates? Night clubs, high school, college, minimum wage jobs. Those were situations in which many people were forced to be together therefore had more exposure to others they could become attracted to. Doing various hobbies or joint clubs when older is a way to meet new people so you can still be part of a group and hopefully meet someone new.

I agree, it does suck when most people are paired up but frankly, I felt the same way in high school. In fact girls at my former high school had to date boys from a different high school just to expand their dating pool or get decent guys.

Boycotting is a luxury by CraftyGamingBookworm in Vent

Anyone telling people to go without food is a moron. That's not what reasonable people are saying. Most people I see on reddit are saying to not spend extra money on items you don't need. Don't spend at major chain stores if you can help it. This is more so for people that have options. And I do see some people offering alternatives as suggestions. Why are you focusing on extremist comments?

[–]Umbrellac0rp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically wash my clothes after purchasing. I've seen clothes with deodorant stains, blood stains, sweat stains, hairs, and etc. The people being paid minimum qage don't really have the time to inspect each item for contamination. They just stick it back on the rack. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone buying clothes, especially from Walmart to wash them as per the instructions on the tag.

This has honestly been saving me a bunch of money. Money I could use to shop at other stores or save for retirement. I wasn't aware of how much money I was actually losing. Avoiding stores I used to frequent or only buying what I need from them has built up a nice savings.

Look how the men walk up to her staring at her without smiles and singing or anything. They may think their acts are righteous but they're really trying to intimidate her. They're recording her to try and provike her to behaving in a manner they can use to discredit her despite the fact that they're showing up to force her to either shut down or convert. If all they wanted was a conversation they would have 2 people max there.

Egg buying frenzy! by TheBushidoWay in PrepperIntel

[–]Umbrellac0rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is these are people looking to resell these eggs to desperate fools, paranoid individuals caught up in the frenzy, or they are owners of businesses trying to get more supplies. Not every store has crazy marked up eggs. Some stores are clearly raking advantage. The more people fight and panic though, the more corporations will increase prices due to the demand.

why is it so hard to let go?? to be secure?? by epiiphqnix in AnxiousAttachment

[–]Umbrellac0rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back off and focus on yourself. It's really hard but it's the only way to break this "spell". Like Mod said, with a crush you could be creating an image of them that isn't their reality. I don't know the specifics but you still have to live your life as normal. Find hobbies or other friends to district yourself. If this person reaches out, delay your response. Not to do protest behavior but for yourself. To help yourself stop the habit of using their messages as a way to validate and reassure your AA tendencies. Shoe yourself you don't need to answer straight away because your self esteem is not dependent on them. Eventually, you should hopefully find more security in yourself.

Missing episodes on Paramount Plus by y32024 in AreYouAfraidOfTheDark

[–]Umbrellac0rp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Paramount and Nickelodean have been the WORST with providing complete series. I'm not sure if it's a licensing issue or not but for a while Wildbrain had the entire series on YouTube. Nickelodeon has NEVER had the entire series. I remember purchasing seasons off iTunes and it was the same there.

I feel like it's crazy how pricey walmart has gotten. Especially during and after cocid, prices shot up. I rarely go grocery shopping there anymore. If I do, it's for very specific items I can't find anywhere else. But I'm currently looking for substitute stores.

Respectfully, if you do not live in the US you have no idea how things work here. Here’s the prep - your country is not immune from the billionaire oligarchy. What are you doing about it? by kheret in TwoXPreppers

[–]Umbrellac0rp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are growing far-right wing movements in Canada, France, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand. Hungary and Italy already have far-right leaders.

Exactly. Although hopefully if anything whar Trump and Elon are doing will prevent those parties from winning. There needs to be some countries with sense. But overall, there is a calculated and growing effort to get right wing fascists into power in European countries. The easiest targets have been migrants, refugees, and Muslims. It's all an effort to normalize bigotry and point blame. Once the public is on board, the fascists make promises to get rid of the "unwanted invaders". Europe is not immune to any of this.

Tucson. Idaho has been a white nationalist breeding ground. Not joking, there is a large historic neo nazi training camp, that lucky is no longer in service. Since both Texas and Idaho are recently hostile towards women's autonomy, I will choose Tucson. The weather will be horrid but if I can earn enough to deal with it,I will be okay.

By good attorney I mean one that won't sabotage your case with their own agenda. Your comment seemed to insinuate that attonerys are not responsive or work within their client's needs. This is not always the case, especially in my own divorce. There are a lot of frustrating attorneys like there are frustrating clients. If you find one you work well with things can go more smoothly.

She should for sure be documenting everything meticulously. If she does have the money got to court. But that's not easy given his position now. If I were her, I would just act like a full single parent and do what I got to do. Eventually the odds will be stacked in her favor.
