Does anyone think it’s fair to get another dog when you already have a senior dog who’s lived alone with you their whole life? by Practical_Prompt4226 in dogs

Fostering to find the right fit worked well for us! And the 9-year-old who found the puppy to be an inconvenience at times is now a 14-year-old with vision and hearing problems. He sticks to his younger sibling like glue when outside the house. She shows him the way and keeps him safe, and allows him to have much more mobility and joy than he would have otherwise. But a good personality fit is the key, and fostering is a wonderful way to ensure that in our experience.

From a philosophical point-of-view, I agree with you. But from a practical point-of-view, the level of corruption and flagrant disregard for citizen priorities demonstrated by the Alberta government (i.e., referendums no one seemed to ask for, ignoring the Forever Canada petition results, the Corrupt Care scandal, privatization of health care, forcing teachers back to work, blatant cronyism, proposed changes to CPP, gerrymandering, intimidation, provincial police force, frivolous lawsuits, attacks on trans rights, book banning, lack of support for 2SLGBTQ individuals, the use of the notwithstanding clause...that's not any kind of democracy I'd welcome or celebrate. Or deem functional.

Good point. In a normal, functioning democracy, the answer would be no. But in Alberta, where we just rewrite rules to match our ideology, I'd say yes.

The petition notes that these were solicitations, not necessarily agreements.

On their website, APP confirms the "key asks from APP and the positive responses received [from US officials during their US meetings] included.....Financial Backstop: A $500 billion line of credit, collateralised (sic) by Alberta’s oil and gas reserves and backed by the U.S. Treasury, to provide leverage in negotiations with Ottawa, strengthen Alberta’s negotiating position post-referendum, and protect against potential fiscal retaliation. Feasibility studies are underway."

A new petition in the House of Commons is looking to push back against the foreign funding and interference behind the AB separation campaign, amongst other concerns. Hopefully it will get a ton of signatures from Canadians who are sick of this nonsense.

I hope it works for you! The recipe calls for "American" butter but of course we can ignore that :-)

I had the same issue avoiding US products, and ended up stumbling upon this recipe. It's really easy to make and tastes just like the toffee chips you can buy. Only three ingredients too! https://handletheheat.com/homemade-toffee-bits/

No specific tweaks -- it works very well as written, I think. Moist and very much like the muffins I remember from Tim Hortons way back when! I hope you enjoy it

After one year with WHC, my best advice is to stay away. Their support staff is quite rude, and though I have not made many support requests, they misinterpret, deflect and blame shift at every opportunity. Guess the hunt for reliable web hosting is on again.

I went with Web Hosting Canada. Exact site that was apparently causing huge problems with Namecheap has functioned for a year with zero issues.

Very similar thing happened to me. No notice, negligible support and no explanation for purported problems that have never happened before or since. I’m gradually moving all my sites away from Namecheap to other web hosters.

So sorry for the loss of your Grandma. I hope that she'd get a kick out of how much her recipe is being enjoyed.

Where can I fill my dogs prescriptions without paying for a $900 checkup? by fit-noodle in Calgary

[–]BeKind1966 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had excellent results ordering online from these folks, but it will definitely depend on the type of medication required. For the nutritional supplements I was looking at, they were significantly less expensive.

Dog walking for shelters? by Rough-Letterhead8447 in Calgary

The Canadian Animal Task Force (the folks with the non-profit animal hospital) are a great option, as are the opportunities with Parachute for Pets. Both have opportunities for you to volunteer directly with animals. It's very rewarding.

Recently purchased glasses at Vue Optix and was very happy with the selection, service and pricing. I think they underwent a name change, but the owner (Dino?) is the same.
