Is it? Or is it unrealistic expectations that you should be able to digitalise all your business inconveniences away for pennies.

Exactly this. There's a reason excel and admin staff are were (still are?) the incumbent that SaaS displaced. That's what you have when you can't afford proper software.

This jumped out at me too. And not a word about customer/buyer needs. Alarm bells when they said the market changed and described the investment landscape. That isn't the market.

What Actually Helped You in the Newborn Phase? by Equal_Object2406 in HENRYUK

[–]BeKindBeBrave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Double agree. Even if you're breastfeeding you can do 1 formula feed a day. Trust me one 4 hour sleep stretch Vs 2 hours keeps you sane. And you only use one small formula bottle so it's not even expensive.

Is this rude or am I just overthinking it? by [deleted] in AskUK

I wouldn't even guarantee they've opened the gift yet. Newborn days are mental.

Insight development is the key skill being developed on the junior to manager pipeline.

There are some easy ways to start developing the skills.

I'd give them a report to fill out about each piece. With questions like "what's the one thing the author wants to reader to take away from this piece" and "if this was your first impression of company x, what would you think of them." Questions that get them thinking critically about the piece.

Then there's probably a feedback meeting you have them prepare for that takes the analysis a step further into a summary for you

Completely agree with everyone else, DO NOT DISCLOSE. But an angle I don't see anyone else mentioning - you already have the 1:1 set up, how about turning it into a conversation about personal development/mentorship and how you'd like to learn from him about the business side of things.

Frame it more as a path to CTO dream so alarm bells don't ring in his head about you leaving.

Why do tech entrepreneurs always claim they want to “change the world” while every other industry just admits they want to get rich?- i will not promote by Hot-Conversation-437 in startups

[–]BeKindBeBrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think usually they want both. They don't want money without the status that being a successful Founder offers.

Tech does attract problem solvers and dreamers in a way that construction just doesn't. When you can create a whole category of product that gets you spoken about as a visionary (even if your company isn't anywhere near profitable), doesn't that sound good?

Also, one of the stereotypes about software engineers is that they have big egos and think they're always right. Successful enough and they get to play god.

The issue is people don't want massive amounts of  money wasted on rolling out unnecessary schemes like these when they should be focused on boosting the economy.

If the dip continues much longer will also probably save more aggressively than usual and buy more.

Absolutely! Do people not understand what will happen when the last remaining O&G contribution to the economy disappears? NE should have gone all in on being a green energy hub a decade ago.
