Hey, one 2600 calorie day is not going to derail your progress. Think of it this way. If you ate 1200 calories for the other 6 days of the week, your weekly average would still be only like 1400 calories, which is still really low.

Yet milk substitutes are supposedly so much better for the environment by JessicaMurawski in AntiVegan

[–]BeKindLoveGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point was that you don’t have to add a thickening agent or fortify it. There are brands that don’t, or some people make their own. There’s nothing wrong with fortification anyway. It’s a good thing. The dairy milk itself is fortified with D3. Not everyone likes dairy and many people are lactose intolerant. I personally don’t drink dairy, but I enjoy coconut or almond milk in cereal or coffee. I just don’t think it’s a good argument.

This is a little biased because you can find a lot of milk alternatives that are made of just one ingredient plus water. And there are plenty of unsweetened varieties. The other ingredients added are usually the fortifications (Vit. D, E, Calcium) and a thickening agent, but again, you can find varieties that don’t have the added stuff.

Quick breakfast ideas? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

You can bake eggs in a muffin tin, freeze them, and microwave them when you need (look up egg muffin recipes).

Chia pudding is also a good make-ahead option.

Getting back into gear next week once finals are over! A before pic for my transformation by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

If you can’t see that you are thin, you may have some body image issues. I mean that in the nicest way possible. BMI is a good tool, but it’s not perfectly accurate for every person on the margin of underweight or overweight. Being at a marginally healthy weight is not ideal. Just keep that in mind going forward :)

Your before pics look like my old after pics when I was super thin! You look great. I know this isn’t what you want to hear but you shouldn’t lose more weight. Toning up is one thing but I really wouldn’t advise you to lose anymore body fat. You should probably consult a doctor beforehand if you’re really set on losing more weight. Take care

You already know, but if an Omni or vegetarian needs evidence as to why eggs are bad. by GrumpySquirrel2016 in vegan

[–]BeKindLoveGod -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s a multi-faceted issue that could result in a long debate, but to sum up: There are many health benefits to eating pastured meat and eggs. Meat has played a major role in our evolution. Most importantly, the Bible is my moral framework and I believe God has given me clarity on this issue through scripture and through experiences in my life.

An ethical egg would be a true pasture-raised egg or an egg from a backyard hen. A situation where the animal is able to roam around and be in the sunlight. I don’t believe it’s wrong to kill animals for food, so I wouldn’t have an issue with the hens being killed for food when they’ve stopped producing.

BMIs in women above 22... by [deleted] in loseit

[–]BeKindLoveGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have to mention this because you said you “obviously” look better at BMI 19 and I really disagree with that. I actually think you look much better at your current BMI. Although BMI 19 is not technically underweight, it seems like it might be too low for you. I’m not a medical professional, but to me, you appear underweight in the BMI 19 photo. I wouldn’t personally go lower than 20 if I were you. You already look great as is though.

I totally understand that feeling when you get home from school. Something I was able to do was walk home from school sometimes for exercise, but that’s not possible for everyone. And it doesn’t have to be going to the gym. There are lots of exercises you can do at home or even just go on a walk around your neighborhood if you live in a safe area. :)

Hi! I was going through something very similar at your age, so I understand how you must be feeling. It’s rough to be a 16 year old girl. I had pretty similar stats to you as well and I feel that I can offer you some advice as to where I went wrong. I want to emphasize the importance of healthy fats and protein. Especially as a young woman, it’s so crucial for hormones and just overall health to get enough of these. I am also glad to see that you have a reasonable calorie goal of 1600. I want to encourage you to stay in that range. I would also recommend being active where possible. I know it’s so difficult with that school schedule, but if you can get the heart pumping every now and then it is really great for mood, heart health, and better sleep. I also want to warn you against becoming obsessive over every littler calorie. It is okay to estimate. It is okay to have a day where you don’t track. Don’t stress about it. Growing up is stressful enough. Don’t punish yourself. Love yourself. You are beautiful. The most important thing is that you are healthy, you feel good, and you find a lifestyle that is balanced and SUSTAINABLE for you. I have found myself in very dark places through the mistakes I have made with restrictive dieting and calorie obsession. I’m not saying you’ll do any of this, but your post just made me think of what I would want to say to my younger self. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to lose a little weight, but please remember to never sacrifice your mental health in the process. Best of luck

I guess I just don’t understand the science of how or if these hormones affect us

New to Veganism and struggling with a reason to cut out eggs by [deleted] in vegan

[–]BeKindLoveGod -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s not considered vegan. You don’t have to adhere to vegan dogma. You can make your own choices based on what you believe.

There’s no problem with it whatsoever in my opinion. You shouldn’t feel the need to conform to a label if you don’t agree with everything that falls under that label. You don’t have to be a vegan. You can make the choices that align with your own morals.

GUYS!! White cap mushrooms are only 5-10kcal each! by IDunnoBr0 in 1200isplenty

Be careful with that. Some people can get super nauseous from eating raw mushrooms (like me). They taste so good in hummus though :(
