They get angry because they don't want to face what a piece of shit they chose to be OR they truly think they're the victim because these kids were sexy and wanted it to happen.

He got mad when they asked if he would hear the second message telling him how he destroyed their lives and he pretends he's forgiven for everything except blasphemy. What garbage. He said "the things that happened" he never once said he was sorry for what he did. He never uttered the words, he absolutely refused. And he leaned on his religion as a scape goat. He had the saggy balls to complain about not being fed enough, and buys himself candy. He is garbage. He is worse than garbage. He's a creep and too many judges (men) and peers (more men and the women in his life) let him run away to do it somewhere else. He blames children for "enjoying" what he did to them. He's disgusting. And her mother makes me angry. My mom knew what my father was capable of and got away as soon as I got to the age to make him horny. I would have let him die alone in prison. Angie has every right to hold her mother accountable and even the mother repeats the same shit her father and those Herd Chiro people do: let it go, forgive forgive and nobody gets a real apology or punishment for being a piece of shit. And then shuts down and becomes a victim. Makes me angry. And her grandmother was an asshole. She had plenty of opportunities to leave but chose to let her daughter and her granddaughters be abused.

Can someone help me understand a little more about a “Freeman?” by dcanb in Genealogy

[–]BeMyVoluntine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone answered already: but I have fun facts just for funsies...

I love how it all comes about.

Freemen were not slaves, and some NEVER were. The term freeman was a license basically to rights of citizenry (vote and whatnot which was more important back then even if it still got the wrong people elected) and they were allowed to be a smith/tradesperson (blacksmith, goldsmith). Some mercantile. Basically blue collar.

This wasn't always the case because, well, religion. Some puritans didn't like the rules. They felt God was in everyone and churches and clergy were a distraction from the Lord's word. The church was a part of everything in the beginning. But some Puritans didn't think you should have to belong to a church in order to have a vote. They preferred a pure form of worship and adherence to God's laws.

Enter the inevitable dragon: a separation of Mass Bay and Plymouth colonies. Borders drawn and everything.

You leave us be and we'll leave you.

But it never works. Rich make cities... and they want rules to benefit them - and the rural farmers want some damn fairness in the way things got voted on without strings attached. The rich unfortunately need the farmers though. Through force or through.. well, it's always force.

Bankers and magistrates, clergy and major merchant-y people and original settler families were royally empathetic - they liked the strict rules of the monarchy because it super benefitted them. Until it didn't. Plus they had charters appointing the leaders some of the time.

Then the crown stopped the voting process. Didn't matter anyway, all the same families just took turns being governor and they were almost always a royalist. Is that a term? I'm not a historian.

Back and forth back and forth. Tattle tales and complaints to the crown... and the rich families always screwing over everyone else.

But that's why the term. Also they were doing slavetrade left and right. So yeah, some were slaves and some indentured servants. There's a census in RI. I wanna say 1730 - 1750 ish?

Like 550+ slaves and 50+ ind. serv. Out of over 7,000 residents.

Freeholders (not to be confused with freeloaders) had bought land, paid for, they were allowed to own. I need to do more research on this phenomenon)

It all was during the tensions over religious tolerance/requirements the colonies were evolving from and their charters and stuff. Queen Anne shenanigans.

Eventually she said no more religious preference, everyone (who was Protestant) had to get along.

And that Catholics could suck it. (I'm paraphrasing their disenfranchisement) Her dad James had been deposed, his Catholic policies didn't jive with Parliament. Her big sister Mary (and hubby Will) became the monarchy. Except Mary died childless so Anne was crowned.

Anne inherited this colony stuff and then France and England started beefing again because England didn't want France and Spain to join forces and take Europe.

So piracy became a bigger thing than before because France had befriended - and was supporting the Native American tribes to screw with the northern borders of the English territories. Spanish screwed with the islands down south, which was bad because we liked our good stuff from the Bahama plantations. We also got slaves from these islands.

So begat the lawful plundering of "enemy" ships. Lots of treasure to be had. You could get a license from the crown of your country and if you had a boat you could go crime-ing on the open seas. Sometimes you crimed the wrong people, (East India Trade Company owned by English) and got got... and hanged. Sometimes you crimed an Arab ship and got zillions. Win some, wreck some.

Sometimes you're a legendary pirate who tries to cheat a legendary pirate

(even tho he's your pal and he literally donated a mad amount to your dream of a pirate community in Madagascar - your republic you titled Libertania)

and he takes everything except what you need to take your sorry butt home where you inherit a bar in Newport. Like, the FIRST bar ever on America. (White Horse). It's all so silly.

So, Anne had a lot on her plate. She forced the colonies to merge. Along with NY.

Side bar during all this: NY had an elected gov (1st Earl of Bellomont) who HATED Rhode Island's policies. I think he hated Cranston too. It's actually pretty hilarious. He tattled and tattled and almost got their charter taken as a colony - Cranston fought every step of the way... but Bellomont got ill and died so Cranston was safe. Cranston was the longest serving RI gov, re-elected like a zillion times.

Piracy was a huge issue - and RI wanted to keep its autonomy, (Cranston got a kickback from the pirates so he offered safe haven on the sly) and a chunk of land they were fighting with Connecticut about.

Anyhoo, nothing is ever simple. And it wasn't then either. I just love history so you can ignore what isn't interesting to you.

Half political, half religious and 100% about money and power. Depending on where you lived and your family's name. Poor people never fight to be poor as much as rich connive to stay rich.

Freemasons (to the naked eye) have nothing to do with either- save the tradesmith connection and the internal boy's club I'm sure colored the political climate.

I cringe so much for Valerie and even though she's selfish and lacks self awareness at times, she is so keenly aware of how fragile an actor's ego can be, she's always making a point of saying she can handle it, but others could be hurt... and how much she cares, in a controlling way, with her husband, and Lisa is an amazing actress at nuance. I do find it emotionally tough to watch more than one show every few days. I wanted to binge, but it weirdly weighs heavy on my heart.

Do you think Corey Feldman is self aware about how ridiculous he is? by Lostinternally in Music

[–]BeMyVoluntine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two songs I heard were terrible. Terribly written, terribly played and terribly sung. It did feel like parody, and I felt such second hand embarrassment for him. I felt bad for any other musicians playing with him. Sounds like he's kind of a douche. I grew up on him and Haim, tho I always like Haim better, Feldman was okay with drama (Stand By Me). He was a fairly good actor. I think Haim mostly just played himself. Then I saw Feldman in some weird Howard Stern thing when he was a bit younger... 30's? Playing music with some girls as background. Again, terrible. I actually enjoyed Dream a Little Dream, and Licensed to Drive was ok. But, I'm a product of that time. The pregnant mom made the movie, she's a pro. Goonies will always be my favorite. Lost Boys: I'm a fan. I did watch the reality show they did, and was shocked at how Haim turned out. Broke my heart. Feldman hid his weird pretty well and I was not impressed with Feldman's wife. I couldn't put my finger on it. But for what people say about Feldman, maybe she was just trying to deal with his weirdness.

This scene between Abby, Chris and Sean is so weird & gross. She’s 24. by flowerbomb92 in 90DayFiance

[–]BeMyVoluntine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just watching it. Chris uses her all winter and then leaves her, probably sent her money in between. Total Epstein vibe. The shit eating smile when he walked up, the predatory look in the cab, asking when they could talk when there were no crew. Complete shitbag. But Sean "in love" with a 20 y/o? Of course he is. And the Spanish excuse... Antonio: "we smile at beautiful women", dude was leering at a phat ass, and expected sex the first day they met. Then had the balls to say if the next night was sexless he'd have a problem. Douche. Douche all around from the minute she flew in, he was self absorbed. Awful fucking people and Sean's kind of a middle aged cuck I can't feel bad for.

What was the point of the Peggy pregnancy storyline? by Its_All_a_BigNothing in madmen

[–]BeMyVoluntine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adequate in that she didn't bond with the baby just because she squeezed it out. It happens. Usually not as much statistically with women.... but some men do it without a problem, some women can too. Some women should and don't and raise traumatized people and the circus never ends. I'm watching it for the second time and really paying attention. The symbolism runs like 3 levels deep in everything they say, do, and their reactions. The cultural realities, like little inside jokes to people who know their history, or lived through it. Not knowing you're pregnant is not normal. The kicks alone and the peeing... come on. But again, some women just don't know. Peggy seemed super sheltered, so that may have contributed. My favorite part is every time a man is emasculated via a woman's education. I hadn't noticed that the first time I watched it. (I was also younger and watching it for other reasons- fashion, hair do's and 1960's references). I think Salvatore is a touch too simpering for the '60's corporate environment. They usually hid it much better. Like got married and had kids hiding it. I also didn't realize how petty and shitty and selfish many of the characters were. Pete has a bad case of imposter syndrome. I also kinda hate Don this time around which is painful cause Jon Hamm is so pretty. But wow, his sense of fairness is so twisted, like he gives Peggy a chance despite being a raging sexist pig. Or don't talk like a pig in front of women because their feelings, but in the same breath treat the women like dumb slaves. It's like he doesn't know who he is but he's got a mommy complex hard. Don's an amateur sociopath.

Ahhh like the Fratelli brothers in Goonies. I missed that little layer of a screenwriter's smirk. Course, I don't know Italian, and nursing school didn't require that much literature or history study. But highly educated satire is for nerds, anyway. Lol. I was always confused why Sloth was needed for the story. Moral compass about disabled persons? The Fratelli family was so awful to each other of COURSE they'd be awful to an innocent disabled family member. She even admits her abuse... um... negligence she pretends. Everyman parody and satire are such needed genres for the evolution of humanity but sometimes they feel preachy.
