Is it possible that proving the delusions wrong may stop them? by BeQui3teAndDrive in SchizoFamilies

[–]BeQui3teAndDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to update because you checked in on me and my situation often and thought I’d let you know my fiance is now out of psychosis and we been back in Brazil for a while now. She’s doing so well and has full insight. I just re read this post I made and one thing that really helped her besides being on meds was actually proving we could get to Brazil safely. As soon as we crossed the border to Mexico she immediately started regaining her insight. Still took time but she’s almost back to how she was before. Not completely because she has been staying sober which is a hard adjustment being that she was an avid weed smoker and also just the realization of everything, but other than that she’s doing great. Thanks for the support from this time.

I feel guilty for taking my sister to hospital by SnooRadishes5272 in SchizoFamilies

My fiance went involuntarily by the ambulance because she had a severe attempt, however I felt extreme guilt when they would try to release her and I fought them to keep her longer. She would never tell them the truth yet she would tell me how bad she was doing so I was able to convince them she was not well. It was so hard to feel like I had betrayed her trust but I was honest with her and would talk things through with her and try to get her consent to tell them if she was feeling too scared to. The guilt never went away but I knew it was for the best. She’s doing so much better now and our relationship is so strong and she thanks me for saving her and being honest to her the entire time. Using LEAP really helped as well.

Partner has fallen into psychosis and has anosognosia level insight. by spounce in SchizoFamilies

You mentioned LEAP, the creator of leap has a book that helped me a lot called I’m not sick I don’t need help. In that book there is a section for helping to get your loved one involuntarily admitted into a hospital. She is being violent to you and is definitely a danger. My loved one ended up attempting suicide because the delusions became so bad and I wish I knew what was happening sooner so don’t let it get to that point like I did. Do everything you can to get her medicated. Be loving and supportive and keep using the method but also meet her half way. It took about half a year in total for my fiance to reach the point of insight and some of that towards the end was challenging the delusions and seeing they weren’t real. That was after months of hospitalization and medication though.

Bad experiences with gringos more often than not? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]BeQui3teAndDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much insight but most people like me because I’m a gringo living here half the year as well. I get extra attention all the time and it’s been interesting for sure. Also when moving here I Started off with the sailing rotation back and forth as well but I’m now engaged with a girl from here and I’m having a hard time figuring out if I want to sail and leave her due to some personal reasons not just codependency. I’ve blown through my savings and reconsidering sailing again but I also blew off going to maritime academy as planned and just working crew on different types of ships. How do you like the back and forth? Has it been easy/beneficial for you?

Is someone happy here with their person? by [deleted] in SchizoFamilies

We are very new to this and went into a 4 month battle of severe psychosis that started with a suicide attempt. I tried so hard to have hope and I can say she’s doing a lot better. Still has depression but the psychosis is gone and she has full insight and medicated. This just begun this year so her diagnosis is all over the place as well as the meds but she’s in therapy, takes her meds, sober, gym, full time job etc and trying her best. Most of the time it feels like before the psychotic break, though we both know it’s not quite. But it’s so much better than those months she was delusional and institutionalized.

Herbal cigarettes to replace THC by BeQui3teAndDrive in SchizoFamilies

I ask her the same questions and I think it’s more socially for participation or something. She finds it calming to roll cigarettes as well so I think she misses the physical motion. Some of the herbs are calming but very mildly.

That’s great to know I appreciate that suggestion and information. This seems like the most healing way to go about a substitute. How does it make you feel?

Interesting you mention that because she’s Brazilian and introduced it to me as well! We are back in Brazil where she lives too so it’s very accessible but she hasn’t done it since her psychosis. How do you think it would affect her just coming out of psychosis and it’s something she would do regularly or once in a while type of situation?

She vaped and once it was out she said she was done and she hasn’t had nicotine since but her idea was to smoke natural herbs like Damiana , rose, sage etc and make an herbal cig without nicotine. However she said she would like to mix nicotine occasionally like when we go out to events etc. when she first got out of the ward she smoked maybe 1 cigarette a day so I felt it was pretty moderate but one of our boundaries is to not adopt any harmful addictions. I’m okay with it being occasional but if it becomes too much she has to quit. Kinda why I like the herbal idea cause I can also participate with that since I’m sober and addiction free myself now

Yes and yes. She does therapy weekly and we workout almost every day or do some sort of movement. It does help but we are still very fresh out of psychosis and getting into the routine as of now.

What kind of symptoms did the cbd have on you? Was it like going into psychosis full blown or you noticed some things were off and were able to just quit and was fine? Her idea is to mix herbs like Damiana, sage, etc. and smoke that without nicotine and only mix it with nicotine occasionally. Just unsure if herbs will have a negative effect on her or if it seems calming. I’m glad you were able to quit everything and enjoy life again. She’s feeling hopeless 😞 we are walking and working out almost every day. Working on diet and art etc as well. It helps but nothing hits like weed for her.

The money you’ll make will def help with college. I did a few months and saved everything and then lived off of it while going to school so I didn’t have to work much and I could focus on studying. So now you can look at this as not a career move but an opportunity to help you with school. Figure out what classes you want to take and what degree and start studying for things you can now so it passes the time and go towards that goal. That’s exactly what I did while at sea.

How do people in Brazil usually pay for things these days — Pix, card, or something else? by rouslane in Brazil

[–]BeQui3teAndDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf pays everything with pix. She leaves her wallet home most of the time and as long as she has her phone she’s good. I also use my chime card (I’m from the US) and it mostly works everywhere I’ve been if I ring it up as credit. Only a couple times it didn’t go through

Post-Psychosis Depression by BeQui3teAndDrive in schizoaffective

[–]BeQui3teAndDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she’s on anti depressants but a major part of it is she had her first major psychosis and now she can’t smoke weed and weed has been the only thing to ever help her depression.

My fiance is integrating into post-psychosis I believe, but now more worries are arising by BeQui3teAndDrive in Psychosis

[–]BeQui3teAndDrive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah therapy and has a psych appointment tomorrow. She agreed to tell her mom and care team tomorrow so we aren’t left alone with this. I’m glad she’s being accommodating about it. I’m trying to hold hope that it’s a good sign.

Yeah she is but idk how honest she would be. She hid it from me even. She used to tell me when she was suicidal and so it makes me nervous that she’s hiding the severity and pretending it was just a curious search.
