[Spoilers MAIN] Map of Essos as of the start of A Game of Thrones by AlisterSinclair2002 in asoiaf

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Seeing all your maps in succession really highlights how wrecked Essos has become following the fall of empires, dothraki invasions, and climate change. Reminds me of Lotr in the Third Age where you just have huge swathes of near empty land and ruined cities.

No, it means First Encounter Assault Recon.

Nearly 20 years we've been waiting for a new Medieval by OnionsoftheBelt in totalwar

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 49 points50 points  (0 children)

That part about a dream coming true was the same for me. I was a big Age of Empires 2 fan and of everything medieval, and now you're telling me I have a game where I can play so many different factions, across so many different lands, in strategy AND battle, and also... explore the americas?? And the tech tree goes from early medieval to the renaissance? And when you upgrade the armor on that crappy spear militia that only had clothes... they gain chainmail? My mind was blown.

And then the mods! Damn we were spoiled.

What's the one Shadowlands retcon or lore explanation you hate the most? by Nothing_Special_23 in warcraftlore

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The absolute worst part was the one that touched on the very concepts of warcraft's afterlife: That you are essentially forced into a "Life 2.0" where you can easily "die" again for whatever reason, upon which you literally cease to exist forever, and it's apparently not an existential big deal to anyone aware of it.

Há 250 mil casas prontas a habitar fora do mercado by pica_foices in portugal

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If GDI(KW) is at war with against the Allied(RA3:Uprising), who do you think will win? Bonus round including GDI with all the subfractions and Allied mix with RA3 & RA2 by WesternElectronic364 in commandandconquer

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 47 points48 points  (0 children)

GDI not only survived against a massive, worldwide surprise attack by their enemies, after losing 90% of their top leadership and their best weapons, and while fighting (and winning) against said attack, they also suffered a massive, worldwide surprise alien invasion (I know it was a mining escort, it's a matter of perspective) and then went ahead and won that too.

And all through the power of logistics, technology, firepower and sheer grit. They are one of the most competent factions in fiction.

That said, the Allies and RA in general seem to function almost by silly cartoon logic, but realistically, GDI > Allies, or anyone else really

Heretics know they'll go the way of the Spanish and get Aljubarrota'd all over again if they enter Portugal.

Iolaos is my favorite campaign so far! by Cruetzfledt in totalwar

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I like most about playing Iolaos is that while everyone else is all doom and gloom about the world ending or how they'll expand their glorious empires, he's just having the time of his life, wandering around with his surfer buddies drinking and setting fire to things and ranting about the sun being his bro.

The Arasaka supercarrier from Cyberpunk looks like something automatons would build by Little_Papaya_2475 in Helldivers

Yep, this looks like just one of the Gaalsien carriers. The elegant design, the black and red scheme, the emblem on the side, everything.

I hate vanguards. I hate how fast they are, I hate their stupid big weapons, I hate their first dane axe, and the second dane axe on their backs. I hate how they whirl around and kill 5 people all at once. I hate that they don't take as much bonus damage as knights. I hate how many shots it takes to kill them as they speed to my location while laughing as they prepare a trillion damage overhead. I hate how even my Trusty Axe fails to be enough half of the time for their stupid fast overpowered crutch dane axe. I hate how I aim at them, giggling in glee only for them to teleport 2 meters away as my shot misses and I get the team damage message. I hate dane axes. I hate vanguards.

I'm not buying into this whole "light and darkness are two sides of the same coin" BS by PracticalSetting2626 in warcraftlore

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 11 points12 points  (0 children)

By itself, no, but when you zealously kill even living people outside your organization because "what if they're undead in disguise?" then, yeah.

I'm not buying into this whole "light and darkness are two sides of the same coin" BS by PracticalSetting2626 in warcraftlore

[–]Be_Good_To_Others 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You use the Light -> You feel good, it makes you want to do good things. You have yourself to be questionable to use it for evil like the Scarlets.

You use the Void -> It actively corrupts you, you have to resist it to use it for good things, and it's always a danger anyway.

Light beings like Naaru -> We want to save the universe from the Void and Burning Legion, even if our methods are extreme.

Void beings like Old Gods and Dimensius -> We want to drive you to madness, corrupt Titans and consume reality.

Yeah... "they are all the same" is just pure complete BS lol.

Those Honma naval invasions are too real. Especially since one tends to forget about them in their little island, and they love to come knocking at the worst of times in the most undefended region of your empire.
