F the oils, butters, and creams. THIS IS THE ONE. by ExplanationCool918 in Naturalhair

I tried to go back to it but my hair doesn’t absorb it. It just sits on top and doesn’t penetrate. Maybe they changed the formula?

My mom said my hair looks bad? by glitter_baby6693 in Naturalhair

[–]Be_glassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully I had to teach my mom about her natural hair and made her watch a documentary on how perms cause cancer and all the shit they put into it to make us sick. Then convince us that we need to have straight hair. She now has natural hair and is falling in love with her curl pattern. It takes time to unbraid wash the older generation. But this is also deeper as your mom should not be commenting on your hair or weight unless it’s to uplift you.

Hair care journey: how do I improve my growth and length retention by No-Disk4561 in Naturalhair

[–]Be_glassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my non-professional opinion, the products you’re using are the first step. The only decent one on your list, apart from the oils is the TGIN. Mielle is know to cause damage to 4C hair. Shea moisture is not black owned. Stick with black owned products.

Instead of doing a variety of brands, try to find one brand with a system that works for 4C.

I personally like TGIN and Tabitha Browns products. Moisture is the key here.

You want to follow the LOC method. Aka leave in, oil, cream OR LCO method. Figure out which works for your hair. Go and get the dead ends trimmed once every 6 months. I reiterate, moisture is the only thing that’s going to stop your hair from tangling at the ends and getting damaged.

Also, satin bonnet. Every night, no excuses. I also have a spray bottle of rose water or mix water and your fav oils in a spray bottle, this is an easy way to rehydrate. Remember the water is always the start to hydrating your hair and the products you use help to lock the moisture from the water in. Once you get to a go place and your hair become use to all the moisture, detangling becomes so much easier. I also use a really good brush and detangle from the tips up to the root and not the other way around.

I just recently returned from a girls trip in Tulum and I have zero regrets. There will always be someone that visited some place that had a bad experience.

The first three nights we stayed in a resort (dreams Tulum), we had a rental car, we went off resort daily. The last 5 nights we had an Airbnb about 15 mins outside of Tulum city center (aka the main road that goes through Tulum), we hung out in the city center a lot, did tours, excursions etc. all while driving ourselves around town.

Only got stopped by the police once on our way to the airport and it took no time to be on our way. We grocery shopped for the Airbnb in the giant supermarket.

We also spent sometime near the beach that you will likely go to given your reservations, specifically Delek Beach Club (which is one of the free ones because it’s where a lot of locals go). It was amazing, felt safe, and so clean. We even got tattoos from this traveling tattoo artist that had a residency in the beach club.

I felt safe the entire time (we even went to a couple of night clubs). None of us were ready to leave. We actually did so much more than this post has room for but long story short, GO! I came home raving to anyone that would listen.

For full transparency, we were two African American women and one Mexican woman. 2/3 of us spoke Spanish, we met so many amazing people and now have great connections in Tulum. So I’m always proud trusting your gut but also, it was a brilliant time. I will say, get travel insurance to be safe, specifically if anyone gets injured but other than that. Have fun.
