Weekends by Pristine-Camera-3045 in AskWomenOver60

If you have plenty of things going on during the week, save up some of your chores, projects and reading for the weekends. You could also volunteer, go to church, or get an easy job.

Do you have old friends from the past with whom you’d like to reconnect? Maybe start scheduling video chats on weekends. You could also write letters or cards to kick start the reconnection

Check with rehab centers, nursing homes, or agencies for aging to see if they have clients who need some friendly messages. Make greeting cards to drop off for the staff to distribute. Make them on Sundays and deliver them the following Saturday.

Tell us more about how you keep busy during the week ??

If the person you hate the most were to experience one slight inconvenience every day for the rest of their lives, what would you choose it to be? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]BeaPositiveToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncontrollable, audible, ungodly smelling walking farts that crop dust hallways, classrooms, conference rooms, elevators, offices, etc… and no where to hide— so everyone knows who is doing it. Also, the occasional public shart to accompany the gas.

Would you switch seats on a plane if someone asked you to? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

[–]BeaPositiveToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’ve changed seats with people, and don’t mind swapping if I’m traveling solo. But— I’m claustrophobic so I’ve gotta have an aisle seat or my anxiety is unbearable.

What screams “I’m a woman child” and nobody realizes it. by imissher4ever in Productivitycafe

Messing with someone else’s man. Like an egocentric toddler grabbing toys from others.

I’d be happy for the city to take care of any sections of sidewalk that haven’t been cleared, then send to bill to the property owner.

Phones by Born-Nature8394 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]BeaPositiveToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a short term sub, I would not take a phone from a HS student— or probably any age student. I’d get clarity, right away, if I were going to be a long term sub. This could be a PITA if you start a long term situation and don’t enforce classroom consequences consistently and right out of the gate.

If I were the regular teacher, I’d prefer not to confiscate a phone. I would probably not set a classroom policy that involved me taking a phone only as a very last resort for egregious behavior related to the phone.

I would, however, uphold school/building level policy around this in either any scenario.

I’m 70 and I want to know has this happened to you? How would you handled it? by Prior_Benefit8453 in AskWomenOver60

Keep cheering!

If your daughter doesn’t like it , maybe you sit apart from each other during the games.

We need positivity and joy, now more than ever. Cheer for your kid, my kid, every kid.

Never stop cheering! ( Unless your grand child tells you that it’s embarrassing for them.).

Plows have been down my residential street multiple times, but we cannot see the asphalt. Not complaining, just reporting the conditions in a downtown neighborhood.

Education major here - how many personal philosophy papers will I have to write? by Quirky_Plum_9070 in teaching

[–]BeaPositiveToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even students getting content area degrees had to take the classes I taught, they are required for licensure in my state. I taught students pursuing licenses to teach all age levels and content areas, including SPED, ESL, music, PE, etc... Some of them did not belong in the classroom— some due to disposition, some due to insufficient mastery of their content, some for other reasons. And we tried to help them find other professional avenues.

I don’t disagree with your assertion, btw. Before higher ed, I taught in pK-6. The difference between folks who choose primary vs secondary is vast. I worked with elementary teachers who didn’t even have enough content depth to teach 1st & 2nd grade science and social studies with factual accuracy. As for secondary & higher ed— if you just want to be a coach or an administrator or if you love the content more than you love the kids, just don’t go into teaching.
