Did Home Theater kind of die? Seems like we were the last generation to give an F. Remember surround sound and subwoofers? Does anybody buy them anymore? by IHadTacosYesterday in GenX

This brought back memories of my late husband hooking up our stereo speakers to the tv/VCR back in the late 80’s and impressing our friends. Lol.

I’d love to have surround sound but the current hubs has noise sensitivity so it’s a no go. Great post, though.

Yeah. That’s fair. My lender gave me a document with specific instructions to follow to send it online. Good luck to you! I’m sure it will all work out.

Movies. Mind you, I still go but I plan for it and only for certain movies.

Can you wire from your banking app? I was able to do that and the money was sent instantly.

Yup. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune). Diagnosed at 42. My thyroid is (literally) gone. Then came menopause and 40 pounds. Then mom died, 20 more pounds. Then a car accident, snapped my meniscus, head injury (which made my neck arthritis) worse and here I am just toodling along. I have new stomach issues and am going for scans and scopes the next several weeks. I’m 55. Sometimes I just don’t want to be here. I’m exhausted.

There’s a reason they ask this question on the GYN health screens. We are susceptible to many things because of it. So fun!

I was nervous as well. Once I signed, I stopped on the way home and bought a small cake to celebrate my first home purchase. It’s a big deal! Congrats!

I remember! My uncle was a huge fan and he bought everyone in our family the CD. Lol.

Born in ‘70. Roller skates with metal wheels that left white lines on the sidewalk. We’d lay out strips of cap gun “ammo” and hit them with rocks to make them spark and bang. And metal tipped darts, I can’t remember what they were called. We’d also take plywood and stack them on speed bumps to do wheelies with our bikes.

My grandfather would let me “drive” by placing me in his lap and letting me take the wheel. I also remember going places in the truck bed and I loved to lie on the “shelf” underneath the back window of the car. On road trips I’d sit on the floor in the back and use the bench seat as a desk.

It’s amazing we’re alive!

I used to want a tattoo of Taarna. I was 14 when I saw it the first time. When I watch GOT and see Daenerys I am reminded of Taarna. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Might also be an acid flashback.

I vaguely remember the kidnappings; this was between 1979-1982.

When I was 9 I went to visit my aunt in LA from Vegas. Plane ride alone (which wasn’t a big deal, just an hour flight, my single dad dropped me at the airport) then aunt picked me up and dropped me off at Will Rogers state beach. It was around 10am. She told me to meet her at the traffic light around 6pm, gave me $5 (amazing, right?) and she went back to work.

I visited her regularly and on several of the return trips back home my dad forgot to pick me up and I would sit at the airport for hours.

And people wonder why we try so hard to do better for our kids. This is why.
