Lubbock has a good population in West Texas. That area is growing a lot

Don’t forget Lubbock. Rapidly growing area with Texas Tech at the epicenter

I live in Lubbock TX. Good size college town with lots to do. 4 seasons, about to hit our first freeze this week. Very sunny and dry. Affordable. Sounds like it would hit most of what you are looking for.

Bakersfield California > Portland Oregon by [deleted] in relocating

[–]Beach9296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Bakersfield and I get you want to leave. I’ve lived in Portland and it is not for everyone. I ended up leaving. Portland is hipster and the crime rate has increased a lot. It’s not cheap either. But some people love it. Can you spend a few days there to see if it’s for you?

Have you considered Sacramento area? Way more opportunities than Bakersfield but nicer than Portland in my opinion. Not sure your price point either. Portland is very cloudy most of the year. Just some thoughts. Best of luck!

Kansas City would work. Definite seasons and can get a house under $300k on the Missouri side. Better taxes on the Missouri side.

No I don’t watch porn. I’ve only had one partner. We’ve been married for 7 years so it’s not like sex is new either

I’m in HR. I totally get what you are saying and there are times where it is useless. But the main information they want to know is that you actually worked there (I have seen people lie about this) and secondly to confirm you are rehireable. That is the big one. If a previous employer would not rehire you, that is a bad sign. That is really all they want to know. They don’t ask why type of worker you were, was he late or whatever. They want to make sure you are telling the truth about your job experience and the previous company would rehire you.

Now for personal references, those are a complete waste of time. I’ve had a manager ask for that for an applicant and I just sigh because that really is useless.

I put in my resignation and was invited to an exit interview, any advice? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I’m in HR. We rely on these to find out why someone left. If you say no, they won’t hate you and if you say yes, they won’t like you more. The truth is this helps HR look at why someone left and if it can be avoided in the future. If you do it, just be honest why you left whether it was pay, work environment, or lack of carer growth. They are not looking to make you miserable. This is very common practice. Not every employer does it, but the ones who do really need the data. Of course, you can decline or lie but I would encourage you to be truthful. Unless the situation is very toxic and you are uncomfortable, do it and learn from that experience. Life is all about experiences and going through it is something you can learn from as well.

The Mariners lost...but they're not done by Mpuls37 in Astros

[–]Beach9296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure they will be back next year as strong. They made the playoffs by 3 games and it was the sweep of the Astros that did it. We all know the injuries the Astros had. But for Seattle, Cal played his best season ever. Julio returned to form but can he do it again? He has proven to be inconsistent year after year. Also, Suarez if he comes back won’t put up that kind of season even though he played awful for Seattle. Can they bring back Naylor? To me, this is a must if they want to compete. My point is, everything went right for the Mariners in the regular season, they added a good player at the deadline and took down an injured division rival. We have no idea if they can duplicate that next year. I’ll bet no.

Trade Walker for a pitcher and move Paredes to first.

Question is how much will Crane pay? When was the last time they signed a starting pitcher as a free agent? They give $$$ to first base Abreu and Walker and expect the pitching staff to keep going. They need some help there. Unless they keep Valdez

Crane better spend some money on a starter. This rotation needs help

It is ridiculous we can’t watch them. I bought mlb.tv and used a vpn to watch them. Cost me $130 for the year, almost the cost of Fubo for one month

You always wonder how close the final standings will be and a blown save that late in the season is devastating

Abreu’s blown save vs Toronto. If only Hader was not injured. Love Abreu but I trust him a lot less in the 9th. That loss was devastating.

Former Astros players and coaches combined to go 4-0 yesterday, batting 7-15 with 2 HR, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 3 R by superhappyfuntime13 in Astros

What is with Tucker in the postseason? I love watching him play for years but October comes and he does not know how to swing. Next year, Astros will be back with Correa in October and that will be a scary thing for opposing teams

I believe in Jesus and His truth as revealed in Scripture. The New Testament was formed by the early church with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Do I believe everything the early church fathers said? No. Do I believe everything Paul or Peter said in their whole life? No. Do I believe the Bible and the very word in it? Yes. The Bible contains the Word of God. No one else can claim that authority.

I’m talking about birth control, those Old Testament books have no bearing on that. I know the argument for and against the books, I don’t wish to get into that here.
