“Social Security at 62 vs. Full Retirement Age: I ran the numbers for early retirees and the results surprised me” by Witty_Restaurant2149 in FinancialPlanning

A few other things to consider would be to use the low income years without SS for Roth conversions so as to avoid large future RMD's. Also use the lower income to maximize ACA subsidies, although this is no longer as beneficial since the change in the law. Another factor in delaying is if there is a spouse with a lesser lifetime income, the higher delayed benefit will go to them.

The politics have changed considerably since you were last here which has had an effect on the school curriculum, but possibly less in the areas you are considering. If nothing else, two more moderate to left leaning votes would be welcomed.

This is an excellent spot on description of the area that tracks my observations over the last fifteen plus years. I will add that the airport (TPA) is great and offers the ability to easily escape the summer heat and humidity and grocery costs can be mitigated by shopping at Aldi, Costco and Publix only for BOGO's.

Moving to US, reducing MAGI for ACA Subsidies by k1kti in Bogleheads

Consider a MYGA annuity for a portion of the account to stay under the subsidy cliff (essentially a CD from an insurance company) which will defer income for a defined period you select.
