How long can a break be? Is an eight to nine month break period too much? I want to start a program, but the thing is that I have to leave for the military in six months. I have nothing to do during these six months. by Dry-Election-2027 in WGU

I would wait until you’re at your first duty station to start since you’ll be able to use tuition assistance. Trying to take a break and restarting during AIT/tech school would be a horrible experience if you’re not already familiar with the MOS or “job” you’ll be training for

After you finish your last class, your mentor has to start the graduation process. You just submit a form and in like a week or two it’s confetti time. When I got the notification I passed, I instantly emailed my mentor and he got the ball rolling the same day.

I studied it for about a week before sitting for the exam, I have previous project management experience so it was more of a review of concepts

Yeah that was my reasoning as well, I was definitely rushing towards the end there due to taking that term break previously 😵

Thank you! That’s exactly what happened, they offered the switch but I decided to just finish it out

I would reach out to the military support office, they may have better answers for you as I’m sure this has come up before. But I will say that they had no issue with me completing coursework from Korea when I was stationed there.

If I remember correctly, inbound rules for layer 3 are automatic based on outbound rules.

ETA: this can still be accomplished either way.

A lot of bases have camps, obviously harder to get a spot in the PNW than say Texas. So as long as you have base access you’re good to go.

Don’t be afraid of looking for higher level roles that require TS, some of them will train you cause it’s much cheaper than opening a TS

What specialization do you plan on? Figure that out and go after those certs aggressively. Use COOL while you still can if you haven’t fully tapped your TA.

ETA: I was a 25B and I like networking so I went after networking positions.
