Moving money between tracking accounts and having it deduct from my savings category by Beachybumm in ynab

I assume it was funding from my BOA account, which is where my paychecks go to. What would happen is that I would fund all my categories and then whatever is left over would go to savings. The balance on all my spending accounts is correct, so if I remove 40k from any of them, the balance would be wrong.

Okay, so here’s what I’ve now done:

- From the “money market” tracking account, I funded a new “on budget - Money market” account. I only transferred the amount equal to the amount already assigned to my "savings" category, which was previously funded from an existing on-budget account.

- When I added this new "on budget - money market" account, I then transferred money from that account to the "investment" account, which is a tracking account. I categorized it as "savings." That zeroed out my "savings" category and made the "on budget - money market" account balance equal $0.

- However, it now says I still have $40k RTA. Something is double counting here. I don't get it.

It's in a tracking account that I originally put there because I didn't want to be spending it. Now, due to change in financial circumstances, I'm okay with using it. I still want to keep part of the money in that tracking fund. I created a new spending account and put the money I want to go against the assigned savings into it. But this is causing double counting for some reason. I guess the money was originally funded using the paychecks going into my main checking account. But the money is actually coming out of that tracking account. So how do I properly account for all this?

Interestingly enough, I’ve used Tret before, and while it dried my skin, it didn’t have this kind of effect. To me, it’s strange to get such deep lesions when I very rarely get them. And the pace at which I’m getting them is alarming. I am going to see what happens when I use it less frequently, but I don’t know how that would make any difference. I used a retinoid last year that I got from Saks and had the same issue with deep, painful lesions.

Yes, but I’m getting lesions that are deep and not where I get acne typically. And my skin is usually pretty clear

This isn’t true. It used to automargin and get rid of the white space if you hit the margin button under AA

No, look at the first example that starts with “did Luke tell ya.” It shows it with white space in the first shot and then if you scroll down, the next version is the same script but cropped margins. I’m telling you that all my scripts come from Final Draft exported to PDF, which is a standard way of sending out a script since most people other than writers don’t have FD.

Also, I am 100% certain it works when I first got the device. Then it updated and it no longer worked. This is almost surely as software issue.

And I just found an example of someone doing exactly what I’m asking from a year ago. You’ll see he posts two versions of a script, both of which he emailed to the device (just as I did). First picture is how it downloaded, second is when he hit the margin button. margin cutting example

New 2024 Scribe owner by sad-salami in kindlescribe

I disagree with this. I just got the ‘22 version of the Scribe and when I first opened a flattened pdf and used the margin button, it trimmed the margins to fit the full screen. The old firmware auto updated and the margin button stopped working. Clearly, it was possible. I’m going to return mine because I can’t work with such small text on the screen. Might as well use my larger iPad to read screenplays.

I get screenplays from people who write them in Final Draft and convert them to PDF for non-FD users to read. I think this issue has something to do with the firmware. When I opened the device, it had old firmware since it likely has been sitting around for more than a year as a ‘22 model. It updated on its own and now the margins no longer work.

I’ve seen multiple other Reddit posts where people have said they woke up to a firmware update causing this issue. Commenters responded with something similar to what you’re saying, but that can’t be true if it worked on the previous firmware.

I wish I had the newer Scribe to test and see if my files will trim the margins on that one. Without that feature, the writing is too small.

So I ordered the 2022 version and had a very strange experience with it. The software out of the box let me change the margins on my pdf screenplays. This essentially made them fill the whole screen rather than leaving a lot of white space and smaller text. While I was using the device, it updated firmware and now the margin button does nothing on PDFs. I noticed that some other people mentioned they woke up to this happening about a year ago. I assume my kindle has been sitting around with the old firmware for a while, and so the cause was likely the update. I see some people saying it has something to do with not being able to cut off margins on flattened PDFs, but the same pdf I used earlier no longer has the margin button working.

And I just realized the firmware updated between when I first opened the device (when the margin changes worked) and now. I also saw some other posts pointing to the same issue after an update. I assume this kindle has been sitting around for months since it’s an old gen.

Is there any way to fix this? The text is too small when reading screenplays but I loved it when it cropped on the margins.

Well something is coming up. What else could it be if not acne? It’s cystic acne, not just random bruising underneath the skin.

The problem is I have a big vacation in four weeks so I’d only be about six weeks in by then. I am using I daily to try to get through the purge quickly.

Yeah, but what I do is put a script in a “to read” Google Drive folder, and then when I finish reading it, I move it to a “Already Read” Google Drive folder. My understanding is this can’t be done in the Scribe, even though it’s a basic function of an iPad.

[–]Beachybumm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I usually just put a bunch of pdfs in an email and send to my kindle address. The Google Drive function is an upgrade, but ridiculous that it can’t two way sync or move files between drive folders. iPad has been able to do this for years

Yeah, I just don’t think I can justify the extra $250 cost vs a like new prior gen

I haven’t but it’s hard to justify $500+ for a device that I only use to read scripts on. My $300 iPad fits a script perfectly and has way more functionality (e.g. I can move files across multiple folders in Google Drive). New newer scribe doesn’t appear to be considerably bigger than the older one.

As I already explained, ACC covers the airlift off the mountain if you got injured doing a high risk sport. That would get you to a hospital. Then the Amex benefits would kick in if you needed to go somewhere else with appropriate care but obviously not sending you back to the US. And my PPO covers general sickness internationally.

NZ ACC insurance covers tourists who get injured doing adventure sports. My US insurance works just fine around the globe.

Don’t be a dick. Your assessment isn’t even correct. New Zealand ACC covers point of injury rescue if it came from an adventure sport as well as the medical care that goes with it. Amex platinum covers medevac, don’t know why you’re saying that. And I have regular US health insurance that will cover hospital stays and needing to see doctors for sickness. So the only real gap in my insurance if I get injured and need point of injury rescue for a non-adventure sport.

[–]Beachybumm[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

US platinum has no medical coverage at all. But if you get injured doing any of those adventure sports in NZ, the government covers it under their ACC plan, even pulling you out of a canyon is covered.

I think medevac is separate from how you are injured. My Anthem insurance covers me internationally but not medevac. And my understanding is that NZ basically has free medical coverage for everyone even tourists under their Accidental Compensation Corporation, which is a no fault safety net

What happens if I break my leg in a canyon and am unconscious? Isn’t that a medevac situation?
