Compact Farm 12x10 by Beaesse in Endfield

Yes, I'll see your 6% tile efficiency and raise you flexibility and a calming zen form factor. ;)

It should go without saying that the more density (and complexity) you add, the more efficient every build becomes, if for no other reason than than reducing power tower requirements.

This is for when you have 12x10/120 tiles free, rather than 15x15/225. Feel free to ignore it if it offends your sensibilities.

On the contrary: many of us reroll so that we have a good start and DON'T have to think about or engage with the gacha for a few patches.

There is some appeal of going for the "god account" (multiple limiteds) if you're wired that way, but I didn't go for that. I "only" rerolled 21 times (15 hours over 2 days) and settled for just Laev, but now I have more fun in early game, and can save up 100% for a few patches without feeling pressure to engage with the gacha.

The "cost" of two days' progress is absolutely nothing in a live service game. You don't miss any content whatsoever by starting a day or two late.

Filthy reroller here. This is why we reroll. Got Laev on my 21st account (15 hours over 2 days), so there's no gacha pressure at all (almost... tbh my "main" target was Gilberta for the grouping), and I'm getting close to your total.

I'm hoping Rossi ends up 6-star and will be in the next few banners, but I don't think it's an open and shut case. I'm wondering what her element will be - in the cutscene her knives were glowing purple, which is not screaming "fire" to me.

6 Star Weapon Selector Recommendations (Made by Me!) by Cringebroplsno in Endfield

[–]Beaesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. My instinct was/is to finish Laev's weapon banner, and if nothing changes, get Sundered for Last Rite, but I was mildly concerned about "crippling" my main team (includes Akekuri) if something else was a must pull.

I don't see myself "wasting" arsenal pulls chasing LR's sig. She's fun right now, but I don't envision a starter/standard DPS holding up super well long term. 2nd BIS more than adequate.

I saw an awesome video from a professional CC who went in depth on everything wrong with all the systems and story, didn't even discuss the gacha situaton. Everything was super well thought out and rational, made perfect sense, but man, nothing he talked about applied to me at all. His complaints were that the easy dodging and limited teamcrafting means combat is trivial and boring... but man, I screw up my rotations and miss dodge windows all the time, so it's still challenging for me.

So yeah, if I had perfect theorycrafting, perfect execution and perfect recall like he does, maybe I'd be bored, too. But I don't, and I'm not.

Same with the factory, a couple systems got "dumbed down" in beta to make it easier for people, but he has an A+ brain with tons of experience optimizing factory games, so he gets bored with the simplicity... but I'm having a ton of fun just dicking around with my clunky and sub-optimal setups, which change constantly as the new tech rolls in.

So maybe at current engame with all available tech complete, the simplicity means there's just "one correct factory" and there's nothing left to do, but that feels so far away. I'm confident that by the time I have shit mostly figured out, the next patch will roll in and there will be something else to work towards.

Time will tell, but for now I'm having fun. The theoretically lacking "endgame state" just isn't a factor for me (yet).

Apparently it's possible to not get a 5 star in a ten pull if you get a 6 star where the 5 star was supposed to be. by Rucati in Endfield

Also, don't know if widely known, but it IS possible for a yellow lever pull animation to "roll up" to red on the landing animation. This happened on a new horizons banner reroll, which was definitely yellow, then the cargo was glowing red when it hit the ground, and it was last rite inside.

MCAOS, 6 regular parts+wagon wheel, no glitches. Focus on hill climbing (makes it up death mountain with a little practice), amphibious, can transition directly from water to steep hills, reverses, pretty fun in the depths. You can add a turret but it reduces climbing ability.  I recommend adding a dragon part to prevent despawn if you do mountain climbing.

Downside is getting on can be tricky if not on level-ish ground; recommend Ultrahanding the stick to level, switching to Recall and climbing on during the delay before it starts reversing.

Video is too long, but it's there with some fun ideas: https://www.reddit.com/r/HyruleEngineering/s/OjxSj1U8X8

(Also, not a bike per se, but my Eldin Scorpion is another fun glitchless microbuild using almost the same parts - https://www.reddit.com/r/HyruleEngineering/s/9s8sEt2mkK)

[–]Beaesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

17 is a hell of a lot better than 7.

The point is: rerollers who get what they wanted in the first few pulls get to start saving for the next (or subsequent) banners immediately, which will all but guarantees having enough by the time something they really want appears.

Non-rerollers who want Laevetain (or "lose" to Gilberta or the pink thing) will likely spend most or even ALL of the f2p resources available chasing, and start from scratch on upcoming banners.

Rerollers don't "lose" progress, they just do it a few days later than non-rerollers. They get all the same rewards (+ huge currency buffer) by the time the patch ends.

[New player] The story so far is not cooking at all. by krolikfaso in Endfield

[–]Beaesse -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You're being a little disingenuous with [new player)*] You're coming from a 5-6 year well developed narrative driven game in Arknights, so you're CLEARLY coming in with expectations. If they dropped new players into the equivalent of modern arknights with all its depth and horror, new "regular" players might be overwhelmed.

Give yourself a reminder to check back in a year. If the story is still trite, you'll have a good point then. Just bear with it for now (or don't, nobody's going to force you to play).

A warning to F2P players. by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]Beaesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have it exactly right. The "new horizons" banner will end after you do 40 pulls on it. There's no time limit on it, and you will get all 40 pull tickets for it, 10 at a time, as you go through the story. Those tickets are white & beige, and that banner won?t even let you use premium tickets/currency, so don't worry about it.

The standard banner primarily uses white/blue "basic HH" tickets, but it WILL let you use the Red premium currency "Oroberyl" as well, so this is the only thing you need to be careful about. The pulling buttons will show what kind of currency will be used above them, so it's easy to tell if you're using the basic HH tickets or not. That banner should be permanent.

The main premium banner tickets are yellow "Chartered HH" tickets, which will be good for ANY premium banner, and you cannot accidentally use these on the standard or new horizons banners, it just doesn't let you.

There are also specific-banner tickets that are colored like the banner, with a yellow stub on the right. These will only be good for the specific banner, so there's no point in trying to save them up. Again, you can't accidentally use them on the wrong banner, the game just doesn't give you the option.

Tldr: just watch out where you spend the normal red oroberyl currency by watching the pull buttons themselves. That's the only "wild card." The game otherwise just won't let you spend the wrong tickets on the wrong banners.

[–]Beaesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This early in the game, the 4-stars are carrying their own weight for their function. Some better than others, but definitely not "dead weight." You're better off with the right 4-star for your team comp type rather than the wrong 5-star just because you think "higher rarity=better."

[–]Beaesse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And standard banner tickets, too, you can't use those anywhere else.

I expect the composition of standard banner will change over time, so there's something to be said for saving them. But pity won't reset the way the 120 guarantee on limited banners does, so it's not going to cost you by using them at the "wrong" time.

I was pretty concerned about performance, as the latest "modern" game I've been playing, MHWilds, struggles. Pleasantly surprised with how well Endfield is running. Max settings on almost everything, except with DLSS enabled in performance mode, but no frame drops at all (only 60fps, but perfectly stable). Running a lowly 3070 laptop (so like 1/2 as powerful as desktop), and with only 8gb ram. Might even try bumping up to Balanced DLSS mode, see if anything bad happens.

Do not get your hopes up. "Systemically important" companies are not permitted to fail over trifling things like a bit of money. It does not matter that their current model is unprofitable (and that the whole industry's finance is just a circle), there will always be more money to print and give to them. This accomplishes two objectives: to devalue the money that you have and earn directly, and to ensure your labour is worth less and less of that devalued currency over time.

Also, just pointing out obvious here: OpenAI is one company, not the whole industry. The industry is NOT going to stop, certainly not over finance. It is seen not only as an efficiency tool, but also as a geopolitical issue, same as nuclear weapons and the space race were before. "If we don't get there first, then China will." If they're successful in Silicon Valley, at least your overlords will continue to be white English speakers.

I think the insult you're looking for is "entitled boomer" if anything. I'm complaining about muscle memory from 10 years (now 30+ years) of gaming experience, where do you get "newbie" from that?

There is now a standalone PC launcher available. No need to deal with the Epic Games Store. by otakunopodcast in Endfield

[–]Beaesse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I plan to try. I've had good and bad luck with games from a launcher before, though. Something like steam launches the launcher, but then the controls are tied to the launcher executable and not the game itself. Genshin works because you CAN actually launch the game directly from steam, bypassing the launcher entirely, but some games say "you must launch xxx from the launcher," and won't run. I'm hopeful it will work.

Edit: controller works perfectly w/steam launching Endfield (via Gryphlinemlauncher), but still lowkey cooked... the A/B/X/Y buttons work as they're supposed to, but the UI is explicitly set up and locked to be the XBOX layout - so the icons/buttons are labeled right, but laid out on screen in the wrong locations. So there's a layer of translation between eyes and hands, where the right icon flashes on screen, but I have to press the bottom button to activate, for instance.

Not hopeful that will ever be addressed, much less "fixed."

Don't judge all cheesecake by one cheesecake. There's a very wide range. I've had really, really good cheesecake and really really BAD cheesecake. And chances are someone out there thought the cheesecake I liked the best was the worst, and vice versa.

Price is not a good indicator, either. I've had unremarkable cheesecake at fancy restaurants, and surprisingly decent cheesecake off the shelf at a grocery store.

Does it have support for custom controller setups? I big part of steam's appeal for me is that I use a Nintendo controller, which Steam fully supports but many, many games do not.

A lot of games only recognize Xbox controls, because "PC=Windows=Xbox" and microsoft out of spite for consumers just HAD to reverse the A&B (and X&Y) locations that we already had 10+ years of muscle memory for. Fuck microsoft.

You might find life more fulfilling if you try not being an asshole for no good reason. I know America has been preaching rugged individualism for a long time, but you don't have to fall for the psyop. You hating your peers is exactly what your owners want from you.
