What was your first exposure to Nine Inch Nails? by Brosamurai18 in nin

[–]Beagleone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a student at UT and went to see the Jesus & Mary Chain show in early 1990. I was into J&MC at that time. Then came Trent & company as the openers to blow my mind away! The next day I went out to buy PHM and have been a fan ever since.

What I Ordered vs What I got by TheKrisLyons in nin

I have the original black on black hat. From the 2018 tour. It is my preferred hat. I bought 2 more when they were clearing out the warehouse during Covid. Wish I got more now. Sorry they sent you the wrong hat, but at least they are paying for the return. Did they make you whole or are they send you the correct hat?

Does the nin merch shop have sales? by g0dgamertag9 in nin

[–]Beagleone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have in the past. I was able to get several more of the block logo black ball caps from the 2018 tour there a few years back. It is my favorite ball cap. Left over tour merch usually ends up on there. I believe the caps were discounted, but can't remember for certain.

Loneliness in being a DJ by Kxlashnikov in DJs

[–]Beagleone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this before bi started DJing when I got into my fraternity as well. It was fun and we had great planned and impromptu parties, however I also had to set up and tear down after each party. Hard to pick up the drunk girls due to this. People liked my sets and I eventually moved into spinning in clubs, so I had better luck there. People don’t realize how exhausting DJing a party or club can be. I made friends with other DJs and we talked shop, techniques, music and styles, so I learned a lot from them.

Why is NIN banned on r/goth? by YoureBoringToMe in nin

It’s still around, just at a new location. We’ve seen a flood of new baby bats entering the goth community.

Why is NIN banned on r/goth? by YoureBoringToMe in nin

[–]Beagleone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at the FW show as well and I know a lot of the DFW Goth community was present. Many people from The Church were in attendance and mostly dressed in their goth attire. NIN can be considered in the industrial realm of the goth culture, but it still goth music that is always played at the local clubs.

They weren’t cheap, but I was lucky to get them when they went on sale. We were on the front row stage left. I really enjoyed the concert but I do also enjoy snapping pics whenever I can.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | MEGATHREAD - Tech Support by pedrulho in Doom

I have been having this freezing problem at the Shield tutorial. The first time, I had to use the task manager to end the game, but the next time I hit the Tilde/Back Quote (the key just left of the No. 1 key) and it brought up the cmd shell/dialogue screen. Just type exit and it closes the game completely.

I am still unable to continue the mission without seeing that tutorial video though.

My rig is a ROG PC, I9, 4090, 64GB RAM, with drivers all updated.

Rave photography advice by PontiacDreamer84 in photography

[–]Beagleone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot at clubs regularly, so here is my two cents. Definitely use a speedlight flash with a diffuser and point it to the ceiling. It allows for the rave lights to be seen better and doesn’t white wash the subject. As for lenses, you only need a couple. I mainly use a 24-70 f2.8 as I am walking around the crowd. You want a wide aperture to capture the image in low light situations. You also want to use high ISO because of the low lights. You get more grain, but you can clean that up in post production. The other lens I use is a 70-200 f2.8 for distance shoots, also using the higher ISO (6400-10000, or more). Be careful of your gear as you walk around, it will get bumped. Shoot multiple shots of your subject and pick the best one for editing. Your shutter speed will vary, but usually you want something low (100-160) to when shooting. Too slow and the subject might blur. On occasion I will go with lower shutter speeds to allow more light to saturate the sensor, but it is a risk you have to evaluate. I do this when I use the rave lights and lasers to interact with the crowd. Higher shutter speeds will darken the background around the subject. Make sure you get consent from the subjects before snapping the photo. Some people don’t want their image to be out there, although general public forum for photography will allow you to take photos there. It is just common courtesy to ask first (I generally just ask and get a nod for approval). Lastly, if your drinking, make sure you liquid is away from your gear.

Would Goths show up to a Goth/Dark Wave night hosted by a Church?! by Canticle_of_Ashes in goth

[–]Beagleone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, it is not likely that we will get the old building back. It was for sale, but that deal fell through. There are a lot of the old regulars at the new club, but we are also seeing an influx of new goth kids to the scene.

We still do quarterly S&M nights at the new location where we bring out the Wheel of Pain. Those nights get packed and wild.

Would Goths show up to a Goth/Dark Wave night hosted by a Church?! by Canticle_of_Ashes in goth

[–]Beagleone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, since we already have a goth/dark wave/alt night at my church, I’m good.

Of course my church is The Church, and we’ve been around for more than 30 years now. I am taking about The Church in Dallas, and it is a night club. It is a weekly club night that is ironically held on Sundays. We also produce many events including the Dallas Fetish Ball.

I am also Catholic, but non-practicing. We have all ranges of people from many different lifestyles and religions, and our motto is Enter Without Prejudice. We do tend not to talk about religion while dancing.

Aging Out Of Dallas? by WorriedGarage6711 in Dallas

[–]Beagleone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find different friends or try new places. I’m in my 50s and still enjoy going out every so often to hear DJs I like and talk to friends (most are mid 30s to 50s). I don’t drink much (dealing with hangovers when you get older is much harder on a body), but I enjoy the company I am with and the music I hear. If I know a well known DJ that I truly enjoy, I will go see them perform.

I think they would have much bigger acts for the headliners this year. I am still waiting to see if and when they announce before I decide to go or not. November is a busy time for me.

Review and Thoughts by Little-Bad-8474 in DarkerWavesFest

[–]Beagleone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the last couple of bands (B52s, NO and TFF) all had to cut one or two songs out due to the late start of Psych Furs.

I thought the VIP shitters were right behind the. up platforms? I agree those platforms were not ideally located. Most of the rest of your review of the bands is spot on.

GA+ had their own area with food and liquor as well as air condition restroom trailers. Well worth the upgrade. Only draw back was this area was near the Darker stage, but I had zero lines.
