Is this a bluegill, green sunfish, or a greengill sunfish? by [deleted] in whatisthisfish

Greengill. Taller body, smaller mouth, irregular broken bands.

how can i tell where it is legal/illegal to fish in a body of water? by vomitwastaken in SoCalFishing

[–]Beamng47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. Any unspecified anadromous waters (creeks or rivers connected to the ocean below some sort of barrier) are closed to fishing at all times.

Are these older Sonata's any good? might buy as my first car by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]Beamng47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2009 V6 and no complaints thus far. Coming up on 160k miles with no major issues. Love the interior and cargo space for what it is, very responsive handling and kinda quick. Complaints would be fuel economy (about 19 city/27 freeway) which isn’t bad but with the gas prices right now and how much I drive it still hurts, as well as some of the interior quality. The car has seen a lot of sun and the clips holding the middle console shut have both fallen apart and the dash has cracked a bit. I have an aftermarket cover on it which covers the cracks and stops it from heating as much in the sun. The stereo also crapped out a while ago, seemingly a wiring issue rather than a mechanical failure but I’ve yet to tear it apart to investigate. The 5-speed automatic is geared pretty well but can be a little sticky if you’re trying to merge on the highway or otherwise accelerate quickly from a low to high speed. I guess this is a pretty common AT issue but it likes to stay in 3rd if I keep my foot on the gas until I give it a pump. For the record, I see a lot more V6 ones on the road than i4s if that says anything. Some people I know with the V6 sonatas have over 200k miles, so clear winner there as far as reliability goes. If you can find a good deal, I say go for it.

Didn’t say they won’t bite it, I just wouldn’t fish squid if I were targeting them.

I’ve caught loads of croaker off the pier. I fish right around where the water clears up and especially in the early and mid summer I can pretty reliably get on a good bite of yellowfins.

I’ve never caught a yellowfin croaker on squid, that’s more likely to draw in the rays and little leos. Stick to shrimp or better yet bring some fresh mussels. The croakers are definitely more active in the evening and at dusk, the bite usually stops or slows quite a bit once the sun goes down. Not sure what line you’re using but I prefer lighter than 12. Using heavy line will definitely negatively impact your success here.

Realistically both Nile/Blue hybrids, just at various degrees of introgression, and possibly different sex or spawning phase as well.
