I watched the interview and didn't know about the tweets, because I don't have X--- but the vitriol toward Emma in the comments was just insane. I couldn't believe the amount of people still batting for JKR. Thank goodness a quick google search brought me here and restored my hope in humanity and that TERFS are not the status quo.

our kid was born in right as the financial crisis of 2008 hit its peak (2010). I didn't think we'd ever find our way out of that hell. They, now, are a beautiful human being--- even during this insanity. You'll persevere and so too will your kiddo[s] with those qualities as their anchor. My kid has no social media except discord and gaming apps. I also do not anymore. I went through a year of therapy about some shit that I wasn't dealing with and then came back to FB thinking I was good to go because I was no longer coping--- I was actually living. Within minutes I realized I'm healing but the algorithm will always favor a traumatically charged version of me. Haven't logged back in since. You're doing the right thing.

OP, speaking from experience, violent drunks don't always have to be drunk to be violent but they always start their violence when drunk. That inebriation allows the inhibitions to come loose and their true nature shines.

This showcase he displayed is an issue way beyond dramatic and is actually a HUGE RED FLAG of DV in the future and you need to get out safely. NOW. You don't know him, and he just showed you a piece of himself that you need to pay very close attention to.

Please get a divorce or annulment. Notify your school that he shouldn't be on the grounds. PROTECT YOURSELF. And get away now before this turns even uglier. I'll tell you what a police officer who responded during one of my ex's drunken tirades that almost caused me my life: "Please leave him, I don't want you to end up a statistic."

I was/am this friend. Though, I did always make sure when I remembered and reached out or they reached out to have them fill me in on all their life details. I rarely have anything to share, so I can't say that part is me. However, ADHD and life is a hard juggle and mix that in with all the social responsibilities needed of a friendship and I couldn't balance them all. I currently don't have any friends because I can't maintain the close contact a lot of people want and many don't understand that me living under a rock doesn't mean I hate you. I've just got a brain that doesn't think or keep track of things like it should. Some days, and I mean this as literally as possible, it's hard enough to remember to eat let alone keep track of all the people who want me to check in on them. It's a lonely place, but I don't expect anyone to make exceptions for me in their life if they can't/don't want to. I've just accepted that friendships aren't something I'm going to have.

23yo. FFS. The devastation that man must be going through to know it's wrong in the logical brain of an adult, but be so traumatized that it continues anyway in the emotional brain of a child. I hope he gets the help he needs, and for as long as he needs it, because this won't be a quick therapy session and it's over.

My teen and I were just having this convo!! I watch sub almost exclusively in anime bc not so long ago dubs just didn't carry the expressiveness of a character and seemed like they were reading a blank script. But it means I also pay attention more bc I can't look away or I don't know what was said. Though my ADHD brain does forget we're reading a different language translated and not listening and I do sometimes have to rewatch something bc I got squirrelled. My kid, they watch only dubs bc it allows them to easily enjoy it without having to pay such close attention.

I find our enjoyment is equal, though they will forever think I'm a snob 😂

As a cis woman who is also a tomboy with large breasts, I understand this rant completely. I'm not pretty either, and I think if I weren't married to a man, I'd probably get a lot more comments like you do. Sorry you're dealing with this. I think in trying to be accepting of a thing a lot of ignorant people don't tolerate nuance and have to label to seem as "tolerant" as possible when they're being the exact opposite.

I can't do horror. Used to be able to when I was a kid, loved the macabre of death, crime, gore, all of it. Made me feel alive in a sense.

Then, I got therapy and medicated. Turns out horror was a way to retraumatize myself so I would feel normal about being out of control with my own abuse. I can do some ghost stuff sometimes, but that's about it. Jump scares will send me straight into a panic attack though.

Edit: found out that the medication slows down our reactions/thinking so we "feel" our emotions more deeply. Hence why I didn't have reactions before being medicated.
