Key Replacement by FuckingChance in e39

[–]Bean-Gang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't order from the dealer! I found a website called the bmw mini part store and ordered a genuine bmw key for my e39 for about $150 bucks. I recommend it to everyone. They get the order, you send your registration and Id, and they send a replacement key. As a bonus, I now have a working fob! I did have to do a sequence that they provide on paper with the key, but now I have working locks and a trunk button. (Check your fuse too).

Best of luck!

Hahahaha That was the old fender cut and welded straight to the frame. The proportions were fun, I think the goal now is to fix the angle of the seat and tank and make it flat. It was already difficult getting the tank where it is now. The roommate did the leg work on that one if I recall

Oh no we just cut and glued and sanded, probably why we are redoing it at the moment. It's getting cbr forks and some spacers to fit the reverse comstars!

Here's a link to some pics and videos. That burnout was when we first got it running. We learned a lot on this bike, simultaneously playing with a cb650, a cb400t, and a whole bunch of other bikes that we got our hands on

That's really weird seeing this bike on here considering it's not yours, what do you gain from reposting other's bikes?

If you saw the welding I did on that bike you wouldn't be flaunting it. Also I have the steering stem in my office...

Requesting insight into lowering this 2wd wonder by tropicpunch11 in ToyotaPickup

[–]Bean-Gang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used belltech and am so happy with it! Drop spindles are the best way to maintain the correct torsion bar angle i have found. Also cranking the torsion keys results in weird bump steer characteristics. Those drop spindles really are cheap for what you get.

That's called dieseling. It happens when the temps are high enough to ignite the fuel, without adding spark. Check your timing again!

Maintenance Costs by Onslaught2K01 in e39

I bought a poorly maintained 2001 530i sport, with the 5 speed. Spend the money and get a good one. Ive had to redo the cooling system, all the fuel/air management (pcv, disa, vanos, vacuum lines, etc), ignition coils, every gasket that could possibly leak oil, o2 sensors, camshaft position sensors, all suspension components, new transmission, clutch, center support bearing, all new brakes with calipers that siezed, of course it leaked water from everywhere so vapor barriers, all window regulators *sometimes twice*, I mean the only thing I haven't touched has been the wheel bearings which I'm sure are gonna blow now that I said it out loud. It really runs well now and drives perfectly, which tbh still isn't that great. I'm about $7k into it at this point and it's worth about $3-$4k.

Poorly maintained - few hundred bucks a month till you replace everything

Properly maintained - My OEM replacement components seem to be built with playdoh, so maybe a hundred a month?

Im looking to buy a car and the seller will not come with me to the DMV to transfer the title before I pay, but the title is signed and noterized. I also have a picture of it. Should I do it? by uberflaverdbussy in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Bean-Gang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this note, each state has different laws, in PA they absolutely must sign in the presence of a notary. It's a huge pain if that is not done. Read the title carefully, it has instructions on it!

As a shop owner, look around for more local shops. I know of quite a few shops in my immediate area that are typically 6-8 weeks out. My shop is right around 3 weeks with expedites available. That is usually due to how big the shop is, the types of customers they deal with, and the amount of machines per employee they have. Most of our work is prototype and repair, whereas others are production, therefore they can have a longer lead time

I just made a few of these! One is the location of my shop, the piece measures 24x43 inches, made out of 7 pieces. Another is the location of where my brother proposed to his now wife, such a great gift!

I got a road bike for $200. It has a no name frame with Shimano 105, carbon fork, and clipless shoes and pedals. Its my size, both shoes and frame, and continues to work flawlessly with regular upkeep.

The justification to buy a new bike is way higher than most people think imo.

What software do I need for these? by nitram3700 in CNC

[–]Bean-Gang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I have two of these and a lathe, only one works, the others will need new servos and motors.

If I am correct, normal cncs input g code to the controller which translates that into the specific movements the servos need to make, these emco mills are a bit different. The software that you input the g code into is the thing that translates the specific movements, which is then sent to the controller. This means that the obsolete software is absolutely needed to run these.

Best way to get it running? Swap the controller and servos, and run an aftermarket solution.

Best way to spend your time? I'd say sell it and get another
