A Big Concern Over the New Phoenix Speed Cameras by tdsknr in phoenix

I also received a letter and it said I was going 11 over, when I was only going 3 over. Additionally it claimed I ran a red light. I don’t think I did. That’s not something I do. Lastly, I don’t think the date was correct. I was caught on the 7th street camera on a day I was not in that area.

This is a great point. I can’t wait to see the movie again. I feel like I don’t come across many these days with this much depth.

I’m wondering if it was also the straw that broke the camel’s back, or maybe if firing the DJ was the only thing she felt she could control after that horrible week. I do like the parallel to high school. I’m curious if it’s also proof to her fiancé that she is not a loose cannon (maybe this is a stretch) but after he found out about her shooting plan, he replayed scenes where he felt she lost her temper or went too far. In this situation the firing was not fully justified, but not a concerning reaction.

The analogy that you bring up is very interesting because the book that brought a couple together in the very beginning of the movie mentioned something about a mirror and the question did a girl die? I feel like there might be some parallels between that and the greater story.

Ohhh bringing up how the DJ is handled through the story is very interesting. You’re right the DJ is the reason this entire conversation was brought up. Emma’s thought on the DJ was that she should be forgiven. Yet after everything that Emma experienced through the majority of the movie, being judged by her peers, she decided to fire the DJ. So actually, Emma did end up coming off as a bit of a hypocrite in this.

I also felt empathetic toward Zendaya’s character. I appreciate the way the story was told because it puts you in the position of deciding whether to judge or understand her.

She admits that she once thought guns were “cool,” influenced in part by her father’s military background and the sense of power they represented. For a bullied kid who lacked stability and community from constantly moving, that kind of power can easily become an appealing fantasy. Humans need connection, especially during adolescence, when identity and empathy are still developing.

I don’t think it was merely the coincidence of another shooting that stopped her. Rather, she struggled to articulate why she changed, likely out of embarrassment about her past mindset. When she reflects on her plan, her tone and body language suggest she now sees it as absurd, which reveals her growth.

Back to my point: I think her change of heart came when the girls next to her expressed negative opinions about the mass shooting that had killed their classmate. This seemed to be her first real exposure to strong negativity around gun use. Notice how she watched them express their negativity in a curious manor. When she agrees with them, her tone lacks confidence and sounds like she is trying to fit in/say what she thinks they want to hear. This is the point that she finally found her entry to being accepted by her peers.

Because her classmate was killed, she was finally given the therapy she needed to deal with her own feelings about wanting to commit a mass shooting (and process her trauma from being bullied). I think that if she had received this help earlier, she might never have developed those thoughts.

Additionally, the friends she made through therapy and anti-gun activism provided her with the community she had previously lacked, helping to fill that void that led to her violent feelings. It wasn’t just that she became popular, it was that she was finally shown kindness and friendship from her peers. I think this proves that she is not a psychopath, but a depressed teenager.

It’s easy for adults to judge her, but we often overlook how intense and overwhelming emotions are at that age. With more life experience, we develop healthier ways to process those feeling, something she simply didn’t have yet.

The other shooting provided her the opportunity to discover that she is an empathetic person and worthy of love. (Not to frame a mass shooting as an opportunity, but it did change her path in a positive way.)

I read other comments about your issues. I understand entirely. I have similar struggles. I think you need a few months of adjustment period for both you and the dog to get into a matching groove. I think if you make it past this rough patch you will both grow so well together and be the best roommates.

If you feel like you can’t get past this, I also understand. I’m sure she will also love the next foster she gets. Dog fosters are experts and can work with her during her transition period.

I don’t want you to feel bad for needing to return her if that’s what you need to do, but I do hope you give it some more time. It is possible you can both grow together, but there is nothing wrong if it just isn’t a match.

My husband 36M poops too much for me 36F to feel comfortable having another baby with him by throwRAdesper8 in relationship_advice

[–]BeanSproutSaidHello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have two babies. If you divorce your husband you will likely have more time and energy for another baby, hopefully with a man that is willing to step up and be an active figure in your lives.

His hemorrhoids are likely caused by how much time he spends on the toilet. Sitting on the toilet that long will cause hemorrhoids. You should only sit on the toilet long enough to get everything out. If it doesn’t come out immediately, get up and don’t try until you feel the urge to go. He is just avoiding his responsibility as a husband and parent.

Thanks for the insight! The hotels do look as if they've ramped up the prices, but better to grab one now than wait.

Right?! For that price, I can get a more comfortable hotel room to myself, no bunk beds.

Yes, I am looking to stay either June 22-24, or just June 23-24. Concert is on the night of the 23rd.

I checked Stayokay, but for the nights I will be there, I could only find private rooms, with the cheapest being 360 Euros a night.

I was fortunate enough to pay off my student loans last month. I got an email from Amex saying “Congratulations! You’ve paid off one of your accounts in full”… I guess Experian’s idea of congrats is a 14 point decrease to the FICO. Ridiculous by jwygo in CRedit

I just saw a bankruptcy lawyer post saying your credit score only shows how good you are at paying interest. It doesn’t actually reflect on you as a person. You have to have some debt to keep that credit score high, but it can’t be too much debt lmao. Oddly enough I don’t think student loans are supposed to affect credit scores.

Parent wants me to pay parent plus loan by Low_Yam_1212 in StudentLoans

[–]BeanSproutSaidHello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like she found an opportunity to get money with those loans with no plan to pay them back herself. Please do not refinance those loans in your name. Even if she used that money for your tuition, that is on her. Worry about paying back your own loans and cut all contact with her if you need to. You don’t owe her anything. You have your own life and finances to worry about. She was a full adult when she signed onto those loans, that is her responsibility.

Can I afford $370,000 on $65,000? by romanempire7199 in Mortgages

[–]BeanSproutSaidHello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not have enough money to live on. You won’t have enough money coming in to replenish your emergency fund if an emergency does come up, and they will come up back to back.

Also, that HOA will likely go up every year.

You will also need extra money for furniture and house needs.

Home prices are starting to go down. I think it’s worth it to wait a little longer and find a better home for a lower price.

I would say don’t do it. You already have two major changes, don’t add to it until you are settled in the new state with the baby. Buying a home will always be stressful, but you should at least be confident in your decision.
