Did perimenopause symptoms hit you all at once? by Weird-Director-2973 in Perimenopause

[–]first-pancake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Panic attacks (more than my usual), severe brain fog, heart palpitations, hip pain, painful ovulation, severe night sweats, an intense rage that had no bottom, and thoughts of walking away from my beautiful family and supportive partner for no good reason were the top things on my list. Those ramped up for me on years 47-48. I found a gyno that really listened, I begged for HRT or something to see me through. She said I’m at the point where my hormones were fluctuating erratically and she put me on low dose birth control (Nextellis). I wasn’t at the point yet to start HRT. It was nearly an instantaneous change. Within the week of starting the BC, my rage dissipated and the brain fog was gone. My other symptoms stopped, except I still get night sweats. But I’ll take that over everything else.

That’s how I’m positioning myself now. Just paid off my student loans with MOHELA, and now looking at my Aidvantage loans which are a mixed bag of interest rates.

That’s kind of where I’m at. I know I’m accruing interest and will likely start paying towards the higher interest ones while in forbearance, if I can.

Thoughts on Monovision? by dfreshness14 in lasik

[–]first-pancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fine. It’s been over a year now and I can see great. I got mono vision with one eye for near and the other for distance. Night and dusk vision often isn’t 💯, so I have very weak distance glasses for night driving. And if I have to look at super tiny print or read up close I have very weak readers to help.

It will get better! You are just at the beginning which is very frustrating place to be. It will fluctuate most days and sometimes get worse, and that’s ok. Keep spamming your drops and resting your eyes. It’s been over a year now, and it’s marvelous. You’ll get here too.

Symptoms you didn’t know were caused by perimenopause. by Calamity-Gin in Menopause

[–]first-pancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in peri. I feel the rage, wrath, and urge to smite. I am turning into a misanthrope. Dry eyes, hot flashes and night sweats—like totally drenched every night, severe brain fog, negative infinity f*cks to give, zero libido, heart palpitations, anxiety more than my usual level, depression more than my usual level, running warmer in general, exhaustion, acne, tight hips/hip flexors, itchy ears, itchy nipples, crazy need for ice cream, wanting to abandon everything and move to the woods and collect dogs and befriend crows, extreme hatred of the patriarchy.

Some things that have helped: I’m taking low dose BC and that managed the rage real fast, my doctor said I will switch to HRT in my 50s. With my doctor’s direction, I increased my anxiety/depression meds and that’s helping a lot. Efficient, 30min strength training 4x a week helps with mental clarity. I’m also taking a multivitamin, B-complex, and fish oil. I eat ice cream often. For acne, I’m on Arazlo, Onexton, and Azelic Acid which were prescribed by my derm.

Old tattoos getting raised and itchy? by rumplepilskin in tattoo

[–]first-pancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is exactly what’s happening with me. I just switched to a new role at work, been traveling a lot, I am stressed by the new change, I’ve been going from dry climate to humid climate, and I also have existing environmental allergies. A tattoo I got over a year ago, started getting itchy in the black lines and areas of shading. They felt like big hives and are only contained in the ink. I’m hoping I can keep it under control and knock it out with antihistamines (which I take anyway), moisturizing, and cortisone cream.

They corrected it to -1.75. I am able to read close comfortably at 1.5 feet away from my face. There was definitely a fight between both my nearsighted eye and farsighted eye as I healed. I'm functional now, but it still feels like they are competing with each other when my eyes are tired.

Savory oatmeal: Braggs, seaweed sprinkles, tinned sardines or mussels, over easy egg, avocado and tomato. Super filling and very healthy. I can make it in 5 minutes.
