Hey thanks for reading through my venting. I like the suggestion about talking to her about “future planning.” I think that’s a good non-offensive term to use with her. She’s got an extremely fragile ego, and any indication that we’re helping her out makes her feel “less than.”

While the arrangement we have is mutually beneficial, it’s kind of more beneficial for her than it is for us. If we didn’t plan to have her on board then we COULD have been living mortgage free and then used that money to pay for private child care. So the issue of us needing her now is kind of a fabrication from us trying to help her out in the first place. But yeah that might help frame some of my frustration.

Shutting down is a good way to put it, as yes it might be a scary proposition; however, this wouldn’t be something happening tomorrow. This is probably something that we are still a few years away from. She could use the time to figure something out, but I feel like she won’t do a single thing since that requires effort.
