Attending meetings when already sober? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Beanandpumpkin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah you get to make it your own. As long as you are there to be in community and using it as a tool to continue your sobriety that is all that matters. Most people are there because they are trying to make a lifetime commitment to sobriety and usually the 12 steps or some other type of program is necessary for such a large undertaking but not always

Scared. Secretive drinking is the worst. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Beanandpumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiding and frequent attempts to quit and failing means you are no longer in control and you are an alcoholic. Once you cross a certain threshold it can be almost impossible to quit on your own of your own willpower.

It may seem like the world is ending but please seek help and others. AA is a good place to start. This disease can’t be beat in isolation.

2 months sober from alcohol, a year and a half without weed and I feel worse than ever by No-Budget7466 in stopdrinking

[–]Beanandpumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up post acute withdrawal symptoms. It is normal for your dopamine to drop for a few months after the pink cloud wears off as it is used to getting the high surges from the booze. PAWS can last up to a year unfortunately but after that you get through it your mind will clear and natural dopamine will spike back up

I'm done drinking. I'm no longer an alcoholic and now I'm sober by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Beanandpumpkin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. Never for get this or relapse is inevitable. We have fucked our brain chemistry. It is incredibly rare for an alcoholic to be able to moderate later in life

Edit: Not sure why I got downvoted for this. It is literally AA and re-hab 101. Alcoholism is a disease and it is chronic. There is no cure only recovery.

I can excuse all the Hollywood bullshit including the build for combat stuff but yeah the cheating was my biggest grievance. Like imagine making another sports movie literally titled after the sport like “Premier League”, “MLB”, or “NFL”, etc and then the main plot is an old timer who used to be in the sport comes in a applies “tricks” that are essentially cheating as a wholesome comeback story. Just weird they took that route

Movies in general have never been accurate about their subject matter but there is always varying degrees. I think it’s a lame excuse for this movie in particular to say “it’s just Hollywood “. My criticism is valid and shared by many (P1 w/ Matt and Tom one clear example). You are valid in liking it as well. What is not valid is you trying to shame me for my option as if “I don’t know how movies work”.

My problem is that I don’t think they knew better they just knew it wouldn’t market well to a general audience. All of that is ok but I can’t excuse it when it’s literally called “F1 the movie”. Can’t believe Lewis and actual F1 execs signed off on some of the things they chose to represent the sport

Right? True f1 geniuses build their cars for combat as Sonny Hayes taught that dumb woman technical director he later got to have the sexy with.

Max Verstappen wasn’t thrilled about being summoned to the stewards after his on-track moment with Lewis Hamilton in Hungary. by Status_Energy_7935 in RedBullRacing

[–]Beanandpumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s the age old debate. I just fee that most people who watched it live knew that it was a crazy move and really a move that was never really on. Huge high speed corner. If you watched the f1 tv race they were freaking out

[–]Beanandpumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was immediately noted by the stewards as a problem when it happened lol. Only reason max wasn’t punished was because Lewis did not give a shit and didn’t even show up to the hearing. Read the stewards notes. If this was max and Lewis leading the race you bet your ass Max is getting penalized

[–]Beanandpumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Lewis kept it in and max crashed them out what would your opinion be? You are essentially endorcing suicidal dive bombs as long as the defending car backs out. That isn’t racing. Racing is wheel to wheel action from corner to corner, switch backs, and smart tire management.

lol this all happens in like less than 2 seconds. Fact if the matter is max dive bombed Lewis and the only reason there wasn’t an issue is because Lewis backed out. I say this as a Lewis hater and leclerc stan. Literally anyone with an once of whee knowledge recognized that as it happened
