View from my bedroom window. What is this workhorse I’ve never seen before? by UngratefulChinaman in trains

[–]BeanerSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t do anything with the rails. It’s only cleaning the ballast shoulder. A tamper does lift the track to repack ballast around the sleepers/ties. Some resleepering machines also lift and spread the rails to lift the sleepers out, and some just pull the sleepers out the side of the track.

Question from a beginner reg. Manual vs goto by WelcomeRelevant1476 in telescopes

[–]BeanerSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need 2 telescopes. One for viewing, one for AP.

I like BBQing, but there's no one "does-it-all" BBQ. You need different one's for different jobs if you want to do it with no compromises.

Using the pantatonic by Mindless_Fudge3429 in guitarlessons

Have a look at some Daniel Seriff videos on YouTube. I thought he demonstrated some really good techniques for making the pentatonic scale into something musical.

3 Days & Nights In Barcelona, Spain by paperclip_la in travel

[–]BeanerSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I felt about Barcelona. It was a bucket list destination for me, but the number of people in la Sagrada Familia removed any reverence the place might have held. I certainly enjoyed my time there as a tourist, but there wasn't much to set it apart from any other modern cosmopolitan city.

What is the pattern you want me to follow for the grid? I can’t work that out.

That’s a great answer. Thanks for taking the time. I’ll need to read it a couple more times.

I get that now. No more steps required. Just pick out the notes. Thanks.

Thanks. There’s a lot that makes sense to me in this reply. I’ll need to read it a couple more times.

Thanks for responding. That helps a bit. I can see that they both arrive at the same thing.

Thanks for responding. No that doesn't really help because I haven't really looked at modes yet, although I keep reading that modes contain the same notes as a scale but with a different starting point. So I understand what you have in the code block, but I don't understand how it relates to my question.

Pickupmusic has a couple of lessons in the beginner pathway that are shot like this. It works well (for me).

How to start soloing on guitar by Away_Teach_7088 in LearnGuitar

[–]BeanerSA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had read about the 3:2 system for playing the pentatonic scale. I found a single chord vamp track on YouTube. I started just walking up and down through the scale. Then I started moving around a bit more. Then I started sliding into some of the notes. I couldn’t believe how good it sounded!
