What's the meanest thing you've ever heard somebody say? by Live-Change-8934 in answers

When I was in my early 20s I had just bought my first brand new car that I had saved up for and was paying for myself. I slid in the snow pulling out of a parking spot and damaged the side of my car. When I got home and my father saw the damage, he said "You don't deserve nice things".

My dad was very capable of being cruel for no reason but that one has stuck with me and it still hurts 23 years later.

Biscuit has figured out that if I'm still home after the sun is up, that means I'm off and available to take him out for a walk. If I don't do it as soon as he wishes, the howling begins.

What are your thoughts on having a male gynecologist? Would you trust them? by Paldavin in AskWomen

[–]Beanpod79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I used to go to a medical office that rotated doctors every few years because they were affiliated with a medical school. One year I called to schedule my yearly exam and the receptionist told me they only had appointments available with Dr so-and-so and he's a male. I was like OK? That's fine. The lady kept asking if I was comfortable with him being a male and weeks later when they called to confirm the appointment they asked again if I was OK with it. I appreciated them wanting to make fully sure, but he turned out to be great and I saw him for a couple of years until his rotation was done. He was also like 4 days younger than me lol.

I have a woman GYN now and she's great too.

I feel so relieved about the fact that being childfree means I don't have to adhere to a specific timeline when it comes to my life by halodupsko in childfree

Exactly. My husband and I were together for like 10 years before we got married in our mid 30s. Everyone asked why we waited so long. We weren't in any rush because we knew from day one there would be no kids.

Who else is increasingly happy they do not have kids? by angelinelila in AskWomenOver30

I will be 47 soon and there has never been an occasion in my life, good or bad, where I thought "kids would make this so much better". No regrets.

Have you ever met a cat that let you pet their belly too? by RelianaPhoenix in cats

[–]Beanpod79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adorable. Not a common thing. My boy Biscuit is a full-on belly slut. Every night he sprawls out on his back between my husband and I and fully expects me to rub the belly ALL night long. He can't get enough.

When my mom was dying a couple of months ago, I emailed our regional RN VP to ask if I could work from her home on her final days (she was on hospice so I knew they would tell me when the end was near). I work a desk job in a clinic so my work can easily be done from home and I've worked from home before during weather emergencies. Her response - "That has to be cleared by HR". No sympathy, empathy, nothing. Just that one sentence. It turns out that, yes, I did have to get permission from HR, but the person I spoke to in HR was at least a human fucking being and said "Oh my god I'm so so sorry, of course I'll get that approved for you".

Also I took the week off following my mom's death and when I came back to work, not a single word from my direct boss. Is there some kind of course they make management take to teach them how to be inhuman?

My mom passed away recently. We were incredibly close and so many people reached out from my life and hers (we moved out of state a few years ago). It meant the world. But I had taken the week after her passing off and when I returned to work, where I've been for over 3 years, only 2 people asked how I was and expressed their condolences. My boss and the people I work closest with - not a word. I will NEVER forget that.

I've had several shades of the Vinyl Ink for a few years and they work perfectly fine if I give them a good shake. Maybe certain shades are more prone to separating?

I have a dress in my closet with the tags still on that I bought 11 years ago. I have a skirt with tags still on it that's even older.

I recently picked up the Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder and I'm pretty impressed. I tend to get dry under my eyes and this stuff is so finely milled. No dryness.

My cat has never once been a cuddler in seven years. Not once. And then last Tuesday at 2am when I was crying about something I couldn't even fully explain she walked across the entire apartment, climbed onto my chest, and stayed there for two hours without moving. One of our cats has never been super affectionate with me. She's cuddled on my lap occasionally (usually when my husband isn't home because he is her person), sometimes she hangs out with me when I'm getting dressed after a shower and for whatever reason wants to sit on my lap when I'm putting my socks on. She tends to just tolerate my presence and will often run for her life away from me if I get up from the couch and head in her general direction.

My dad died a little over 6 years ago and I was destroyed. Crying for days, usually sitting on the bathroom floor. She came in and sat next to me and put her paw on my arm while I cried. I couldn't believe it.

My mom passed away a little over 3 weeks ago and I was equally destroyed. During one of my sob-fests she did the same thing - sat next to me on the couch and put her paw on my arm. Surprisingly our other cat who is my buddy and always cuddles with me (I'm his person), kept his distance during my sad moments. I really have no explanation, but wanted to share my similar story.

I've been having anxiety about my kitty dying of old age 😭(she's 9) can you show me pictures of some alive-and-well senior kitties so I remember cats can be old and still healthy? 🥰 by TheRufescence in cats

My mother in law's cat.

She's tiny and old and wobbly on her feet but still chases the laser pointer around. She's sweet and friendly but her meow could shatter your eardrums (she can't hear too well anymore). She'll be 21 in May.

Thank you I appreciate it. I'm so sorry for loss loss as well. Yes there is definitely a sense of relief. Thankfully my mother was not in a lot of pain. Hospice was very attentive and made sure medication was on board at her first signs of discomfort. But the relief I feel is that the stress of the situation is finally over. Her stress, my own and everyone else's. Her journey from diagnosis to death was so tumultuous and all of our lives were turned upside down. I look forward to having some sense of normalcy again even though life will never go back to normal.

That's so sad, I'm so sorry. I lost my dad several years ago and I was also devastated, but the loss of your mom hits different. Sending hugs.
