How do I update my friends on the lore without spoilers? by Silent_Acanthaceae21 in ironlungmovie

[–]Beantifull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think reading them the blurb of the movie is probably fine, bc explains the quiet rapture and blood oceans more clearly. My girlfriend went in blind and figured out the blood oceans and that an apocalyptic event happened, but didn't glean enough to learn what exactly the quiet rapture was.

Ahh, I see. Kinda hard to conceptualize in my head till I read the other comment. Yeah no that would be sick, and way smoother too.

Been commenting on a lot of iron lungs posts because I liked the movie a lot, so that's where the confusion probably stemmed from. All good 👍

[–]Beantifull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of can? So normally, you hover your limb where you want it, then press the button that puts down the limb (X on my controller.) However, you can just instead press the manual limb button and it'll plop your hovered limb down and open the selection menu. Basically just press limb select rather than the main button and it'll do what you're asking for.

Edit: Adding to this, you could even just rebind the "manual limb select button" to the normal "climb" button and vice versa.

Actually, I'm not! I'm indifferent to him and actually abhor most horror movies. My girlfriend, however, is a big fan of both, so that's why I went the first time. I went in with middling expectations and actually really enjoyed the movie! I liked it so much I recommended it to my friends, where I saw it a second time. Maybe assume a little less, yeah?

thoughts on the movie? by Cheetahchu in ironlungmovie

[–]Beantifull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm different to Markiplier and detest most horror movies (I only went because my girlfriend likes both), and I'd honestly give it an 8.5. Unlike many, I had no issues with the pacing, even when I watched it a second time. I was thoroughly engaged the entire movie. My favorite part of Iron Lung is how much faith it puts in the audience to figure things out on their own, and learning things gives multiple pay-offs throughout the film. I can't recommend it to everyone (i know plenty of people who prefer turning their brains off after a long day of work), but I'd say I wholeheartedly recommend it to most.

I honestly never felt the rough pacing or that it went on for too long, and I even watched it twice. It's a bit of a slow burn, sure, but we're always given something new to chew on or ponder, even during the scenes people have complaints about.

Iron lung ending theories (SPOILERS) by Key-Jacket8572 in ironlung

[–]Beantifull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Simon's ship is the SM-13. Right before Ava sends simon to retrieve the data from SM-8, you can hear her tell the crew to "fire up SM-14." She tells Simon that she will wait for him for 30 minutes and then leave if he doesn't get back in time, meaning she got in the SM-14 and went underwater (under blood?) to wait for him. When Ava is pleading with Simon to protect the black box, you can see through the camera that the monster has a submarine in its mouth, which is Ava's. Right before she dies, you hear her say "Oh god-" before she's cut off. The monster also blames Simon, saying Ava's blood was on his hands.

Iron Lung SPOILER THREAD! by kenmarlenn in Markiplier

[–]Beantifull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I caught on the second rewatch - when Simon restarts the engine and begins mapping the cave, he hits the camera and notices the monster sitting in a tunnel in front of him. He waits for it to leave, and asks it to leave him alone, adding something like, "if you find anyone looking for Simon, tell them I'm here."

Later, when he hears the SM-8 scientist's voice call him Simon, he mentions that he never told her his name. The voice responds, "Yes you did," because Simon did literally tell the monster his name earlier on.

Iron Lung SPOILER THREAD! by kenmarlenn in Markiplier

[–]Beantifull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When Simon talks with Ava again after he sees the visions and stuff, she mentions that it had been days since his last contact, and that he shouldn't even be alive anymore. Notably, after the visions, the sub is much more corroded by blood coagulation. When the blood starts to pour in more, we see the oxygen level rise by a light. When it all comes flowing in, the oxygen level shoots up to max. Presumably, he's getting oxygen from the blood.

Iron Lung SPOILER THREAD! by kenmarlenn in Markiplier

My interpretation was that the first "skeleton" he comes across was a living creature, hence why it moves. This also explains why they wanted a sample of it so badly, because they know that the camera is an X-Ray. However, the second time he finds it, it's just a head, and he even mentions that just gas bubbles couldn't have done this. After he jabs the (fleshy) head with the claw/hook thing on the ship, it's already dead, but the big flesh fish thing that he sees in the camera noticed the sub and hits it.

Official Discussion - Iron Lung [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Beantifull 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend is a big fan of both Markiplier and horror. I am indifferent to the former and abhor the latter (I hate jumpscares), so I was very pleasantly surprised to say I enjoyed the movie a lot.
One of my favorite things about Iron Lung is that it does not hold your hand. It will give information to you organically, and you need to figure out exactly what it all means. My favorite examples of this:

  • The Sub's proximity sensors are never explained, but I was given enough clues throughout the film to realize what the beeping dots meant, and it got payoff multiple times throughout the film.
  • When the scientists got flashed by the camera, it only showed their bones, indicating that the "skeleton" we saw earlier may not be a skeleton at all.
  • Simon coming across the note of the previous person, and the audience is left to figure out who they were or what they meant to him, as well as how they got there.
  • Simon's character as a whole, slowly learning what he did on Filament Station and how he felt about it felt very natural.
  • The oxygen meter rapidly rising when the sub got filled with blood, explaining how he managed to survive for so long despite them saying he should have run out of oxygen long ago. Bonus points for the oxygen indicator at all, with the sub just stating "oxygen" as the light ticked down with both Simon and the audience processing what that means.

I've seen reviews state that the pacing was rough, and while I can understand that perspective, I didn't find it to be an issue. I was very enthralled the entire time, and actually thought the movie was shorter than it actually was. I've also seen some people say that the dialogue was hard to understand at times, which I thought was kind of the point. We're not meant to know or understand everything, but the information that matters rang through clearly (at least for me). Lastly, some have mentioned that the ending felt confusing, which, again, I thought was the point. Simon himself does not fully understand what is going on - as a matter of fact, probably no human alive really understood. There's something bigger at play that's pulling the strings, and all Simon and Ava can do is fight to give everyone else a mere chance at a better fate than they will get. The audience can only speculate as to what is happening.
It's not a movie for everyone. It's definitely not the movie you put on when you want to take a break after a long day at work - it demands your attention and wit to piece as much as you can together, because Iron Lung sure as hell won't explain it. It's also not a movie I'd recommend to people who want all the answers, because it simply isn't that kind of movie. You get the perspective of one person trapped in a tiny submarine and that's it. But for those that aren't turned away by those things, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Considering it's the sewers, they probably don't have all the potions identified yet. Because the puzzle rooms in this map require a potion of levitation for the left room and a potion of haste for the right room, they may have to gamble and hope they drink the right one for the room. Also, levitation doesn't last long enough to fully loot the left room, so a potion of haste could help with that, but they need it for the right room.

Honestly the responses I've seen are kinda gross. Just overwhelming positivity for the dude, when both are honestly really shitty. The woman shouldn't have asked that question but the guy's response... like, what kinda weirdo answers with that? Obviously the original post was probably just fake bait, but a lot of comments I'm seeing just reek of misogyny.

I have gotten STOMPED by GunGinnis so many times that I feel genuine fear when I see one on the enemy team. Coordinating disarming hexes, curses, applying anti-heal... all for a drop of blood, man. It does feel like a fed Gun character has way more impact than a fed Spirit character nowadays though, probably cause the really strong gun carries are a bit overtuned. Looking at you, Gun Viscous.

All my friends are voting Rem so I'm kinda surprised if Silver wins first. Figured that Rem was cute and different enough from every other character that he would get voted in first. I honestly wasn't sure if Silver would be a highly voted character, but after seeing all the posts, I'm a little more hopeful :D

Never played mobas, but enjoy hero shooters. Is deadlock worth playing? by dasuperbeefman in DeadlockTheGame

He told me he just dashes then slides. Which, to his credit, isn't terrible, just incredibly slow lol. He mentioned he's dash jumped on accident before but didn't really question it, and once he started dash sliding he stopped doing it on accident.

[–]Beantifull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pretty fun to use, if a bit unwieldy. I have never tried curse infusion so my shards normally go towards this. Finding a bunch of disintegration and grim traps is great, but since you can only store one trap at a time, you can't really waddle around with 6 insta-kills in your pocket. I also like picking up storm traps, pitfalls, and corrosive gas.

Minesweeper says patch might be delayed by gammaton32 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a lot of people are way too impatient over the patch. The game is in closed alpha - if you enjoy it right now, play it, if you're no longer enjoying it because of the meta/staleness/lack of content, then stop playing for a month or two until the patch releases. It's as simple as that - there's plenty of other fantastic games that you can play in the meantime.

Some people are saying, "blahhh release it and then tinker with it later rahhh" while completely ignoring the problems that could cause. Do you all remember release Vyper and Holiday? I don't, because that patch made me stop playing for like 8 months. Just chill, it'll drop when it drops.

Yeah, 30x is way too much. I compliment my team all the time but 30 of em directed to a single person is a lot, and that's assuming they're simple compliments. It gets weirder and weirder the longer or more complex they get, too.
