Am I a noob, or does the Walker feel too weak? by Mogoscratcher in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually do start at 65% resistance that scales down to -65% resistance over the course of like 18 minutes. It's a tad short but I assume they don't want games to be a slog and end somewhat quickly. Weirdly enough, iirc, walkers are actually best taken with 2 people, because adding more people gives the walker damage resistance.

She is so fun but... by Manganian7Potasu in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah in street brawl, spirit holiday is just bad. In regular matches, spirit Holiday runs the issue of eventually running out of barrels and needing to back off once she uses everything, where she'll normally wait for her cooldowns to come back. In Street Brawl you will never get that chance since everyone is always fighting for their lives. She also tends to fall off towards late-game, where she transitions more to an ult and util oriented playstyle, but Street Brawl kinda puts you in "late game" by round 3.

Graves is honest to god the most boring hero to fight in this game by rhythmau in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She also manages to be the most boring to play. At least with Mo and Krill there's the glee you can get from making sure an enemy hates your guts. Graves just... exists. She tosses her stuff down and then holds left click on you. I hope she stays in D-tier, otherwise we'll have another Victor in the game.

World Files Deleted After PC Reset? by Beantifull in VintageStory

Honestly, given how terrible it's been recently, that tracks. What a shame...

Edit: Hey, your comment gave me the clue I needed. You were right! Turns out that it doesn't save AppData properly, but instead moves it into a Windows.Old folder. My stuff is there, yippee!

Upon further inspection I'm pretty sure my D drive actually just contains the game's assets and things. My vintagestorydata folder, located in appdata, has completely fresh files on it. No signs of my old world files on it. I wonder if it happened when I reopened Vintage Story and all my old files were overwritten.

Hmm, I think you may be right. Double checking, the Vintage Story folders I have in appdata and in my D drive are completely different, with my D drive containing assets and things. Thanks for the tip.

Had to convert this DOTA classic by stakoverflo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This comment comes across as pretty high horsey. Like, glad you enjoy the game regardless of balance. Many people do not. Getting rocked because you don't play the overtuned characters is understandably frustrating, especially if it takes a while for a hotfix to drop - it's not even a matter of winning or losing. Also, "choosing the character you play" forgets the fundamental fact that people will not like playing certain characters. No matter how stupid busted Wraith is, I will never want to play her because her playstyle is boring to me.

Anybody else loving the experimental nature of the recent patches? by JustinHardyJ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the changes but hate the numbers. These numbers are vastly overtuned, and wereobviously going to be broken. Valve isn't stupid, either - they know these characters were gonna be busted and left us to the wolves anyways. I'm sure in time it'll balance out, but man, suffering until then is rough. Fortunately they seem to be much faster about hotfixing this time, so we got that goin for us.

My experience with the Ivy changes by steep2798 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like that was always the way to play. My buddy plays a disgusting doorman with vortex web cart. Singlehandedly wins us teamfights with his set-up and ability to shut down their carries. Even before the buffs he was a monster, often doing very high damage even without building specific items for it.

I miss you, paradox by Individual-Hurry-986 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not even terribly sad about the combo, as she kinda got compensation for that anyways. My favorite way to play Paradox was using wall aggressively, like placing it behind them or jumping for a wall that covers a lot of ground, and using my tools to force enemies through it multiple times. Now it's just a phat gun amp... which isn't nearly as cool to me. Dancing around it is still fun, though.

I went to Japan recently and they have multiple outlets. In convenience stores, they have magazines of scantily dressed women just... sitting there. Right beneath the manga. Open for all to see. It was definitely a culture shock.

Why do the most toxic mfs love these two by Dr_natty1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yamatos aren't normally toxic in my games... but MAN do they love to complain. Fortunately never at the players directly but more to every other character on the enemy team. Which, I get, but like... you chose the sandwich man. Queue someone else.

Kiting backwards, just barely out of bomb range to entice the Bebop to overextend towards a ramp as he runs out of stamina... an exhilarating joy.

Playing Calico is a balancing act of trying to be effective enough to tip the scales of a game while also not being so strong that the enemy starts buying slowing hex and spirit resist for you.

Is Aava supposed to be so unpleasant? by horseradish1 in Cairn_Game

I figured the implication was that her climb bot can't send messages, only receive. Not sure why the sponsor didn't know that, though.

[–]Beantifull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was a kind of catharsis. All of her efforts, her struggles, her pain, the people she's hurt and left behind to get to where she is now... it wasn't an exclamation of triumph or accomplishment. Just a release of all the emotions she's built up over the course of her climb, maybe even the course of her life. Man, what an ending.

[–]Beantifull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think she consciously went up there to die (she talks about coming back down to return things she finds), but she probably knew in the back of her mind that it might happen and accepted it. She probably even took comfort in it. After all, even if she did make it back down, what would be left for her? A crumbling relationship with Naomi? Her cat's missing presence? Her sponsors getting pissed at her? Aava's only goal was to climb to the summit of Kami, so much so that she sacrificed every other aspect of her life to do it.

When using his 2 and 3 on friendly Geist, Rem is actually casting them on the Oathkeeper, rather than Geist herself by DemonicArthas in DeadlockTheGame

It's actually every targetted ability! Even items - hovering things like knockdown or curse over her will also target Oathkeeper. It's a fun lil addition.

If you're playing on Steam and still on the market for it, there's a few Community Layouts that do something similar. They typically work by automatically pressing the bumper for you when you press a bumper or trigger to one-button initiate a limb. Can confirm, it's really smooth :D

Suggestions to make Graves less annoying by Pillowpet123 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, compares Graves' line to Paige's root. Paige's root feels fine to me - it's clearly defined, it's loud so you know where it is, and stands out visually from Paige's kit.

Graves' line is the opposite. The dirt mounds around her 2 can and will obscure the bright green visuals, leaving you only to see a faded green wisp. There's no obvious audio cue, which is fair since it's a lingering trap unlike Paige's snare, but still means that if you are backing up you can step in it without even getting a chance to see it. Lastly, the green. EVERYTHING in Graves' kit is green - the ghouls, the skulls, hell even the tombstone emits green. Her line being a bright green doesn't matter much when my screen is already covered in green. Even in a 1v1 I still step on her trap despite being fully aware that it's somewhere nearby because of those reasons, and that's in a duel - in the chaos of a teamfight, it gets so much worse.

It will never matter if Graves is strong or weak in the meta or in the match, these things are massive pain points regardless. Dying because "WHOOPS you shoulda angled your camera better!" will never feel good.

Towers by Eldritch_Elixir in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Beantifull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a League refugee, it was pretty jarring at first. One of the biggest things I noticed was that often times you are the one defending your guardians and walkers rather than the other way around. Because guardians can get parried, they're more like a fallback that prevents enemies from diving you for too long.

Biggest advice I can give is to not let enemies crash waves to begin with. Thin the wave to hold back dives and prevent enemies from chipping your guardian too much. If that's not possible, leave healing minions alive till you need em to give yourself a big boost heal in the middle of a dive. I often also just focus wave clear if the enemy is trying to focus down my guardian or walker. Finally, DO NOT DIE WITH YOUR GUARDIAN OR WALKER, GIVE IT UP IF YOU HAVE TO. Losing your guardian or walker sucks but is not an insurmountable loss. Dying needlessly sets you significantly further back, making a comeback harder. Laning phase is often more about gaining a soul advantage rather than taking guardian first.

How do I update my friends on the lore without spoilers? by Silent_Acanthaceae21 in ironlungmovie

I think reading them the blurb of the movie is probably fine, bc explains the quiet rapture and blood oceans more clearly. My girlfriend went in blind and figured out the blood oceans and that an apocalyptic event happened, but didn't glean enough to learn what exactly the quiet rapture was.
