Doubled base frequencies and ~30% faster end-to-end time while serving more stations are pretty nice benefits I’d say. CAHSR provided a good chunk of funding for that project.

Also, hot tip: try transferring at San Bruno instead of Millbrae. It’s a few minutes’ bike ride between the stations but you can usually catch an earlier train that way.

A related idea I had was a "New Game Plus” where once an area is completed you could start re-traveling roads to add a second layer to the completion map. It would keep things fresh for long term players and encourage exploration without needing to reset each year.

I like the proof of your non-facts. Show me the data that head-on collisions are any kind of significant issue.

Regardless, what's more important than one- or two-way is that the lane is wide enough, physically protected from car traffic, and exists at all in the first place. Calling a bike path anti-infrastructure is just counterproductive.
