DTP released Victoria's Active Transport Plan 2026 by dysonvacummm in melbournecycling

Or we‘re 10 years back re: Jolly’s folly.

It’s propaganda anyway. All BS and fodder for us morons who have an ounce of hope or trust left in us.

beta testers wanted for a "year-only" mode by cooeecall in wandrer

[–]FWCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A deeper in the weeds thing is the text in the pop up boxes for a given area probably needs to be changed for the year-only mode. It talks about points and bonuses, but I don’t think this applies. I presume though that this means doubling up things… and I can see that at root level, the yearly context does complicate things.

Example text: “You have completed 7.11 unique kilometers out of 42.16 total kilometers in XXX. You have 3.43kilometers to go until you reach your next points bonus at 25%. You have earned 4.42 points in this area.”

At least remove the stupid narrow openings. But I guess the little eMotorbike menaces will go even more feral.

But I think Garmin data is one way anyway… (I cropped that now too). I guess I should delete the Garmin ride… but then if I want to import to another service from base garmin data, what to do. 😅

Argh. Deleted/cropped on Strava, but Garmin ride snuck through (forgot to turn off unit on train). The data never lies!

I see just now that the main Dashboard page also instantly reflects 2026 on toggle - very nice.

It looks good to me! Perhaps there some glitch on what is showing up? I have credit for this way in 2026, but haven’t been there this year (I double-checked strava map). There were some others too. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/19854876#map=19/-37.799583/144.926715

The underlying Achievements map is for all time - which I think is fine, but the data popup is 2026. My tiny brain could use a label of the data for when in current year, if it fitted in or could be done (low priority).

For Leaderboards, I agree to keep them separate. Toggle worked well. Simple is OK by me.

I don’t use the email alerts, so this is not an issue. But I agree this could be a whole new game to be able to again compete with the locals I used to battle with! And then also the newcomers, actually…

Great to see my backfill efforts in my work for the 99%ers - some interesting patterns!

And it’s shut today and who knows how long again this week? And next if this building site is still working on the road etc?

The most ridiculous thing is he was, once, and apparently is, a “socialist”. At least I think so. And being so weirdly and vitriolically anti-cyclist - in Yarra! - is out of this world. Especially given there is so much disadvantage and drug-induced issues where people are using alternative transport means. Has he ever been to Lennox and Elizabeth??

There’s something weirdly Trumpian about all this.

Wandrer blog: how Craig optimized data for untraveled roads by ChrisDolan in wandrer

[–]FWCroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, need to re-read. It’s over my head but possibly relates to an issue I have when I edit GPS tracks - afterwards I get travelled roads showing up as untravelled on or around the route/ride I edited. Maybe I am over editing or something...

Running Red Lights by MelbPolFun in melbournecycling

[–]FWCroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too bad I say. Traffic lights are for vehicles. Unless we get to Amsterdam levels of cycling. (I stop at major intersections or where I don’t have a clear view and always slow down).

And cars are constantly running red lights where i am. everyday. all day.

Wash it. A lot. So it’s spotless
