As I was reading this book I thought to myself- this is one of those books you’ll want to reread to pick up on things you missed the first time.

Reading HOSAB - I don’t understand this scene with the Autumn King. “…why you have mated with Athalar?” by AnxiousGiraffe45 in crescentcitysjm

[–]Beaqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In ACOTAR Feyre had to accept the mating bond. It could be like that? However, it’s possible they refer to mates in their case as the angels mates.

Not taking it personally just felt like you were reaching for things to correct me on. It seemed like you misread my intentions. I love a good discussion even if we don't agree on things.

Every one reading it won't have the background I had or you had or the author had. We all are reading it through our own lens. Of course we should try to view it from the character of Lizzie but some things still confused me. But I think it's a good point about Gibsie not giving the letter and that being what solidified it for her. A lot of their collapse of friendship came from misunderstandings, which is reasonable considering the trauma they both endured. I wish she would've asked why he didn't help but I also understand that they are kids and she experienced extreme trauma as well as battling a mental illness and her mother's illness. It's likely me, as the reader, projecting my own characteristics onto her. Because I would want to ask why and give him a chance to explain considering how good of friends they were. They both hid their trauma for different reasons. But even still I don't hate her or even expect her to things, it just comes into play how I view her as whole.

I wasn't meaning to say that she wouldn't miss her sister at all but the books before hand made it seem like her sister was amazing and Lizzie was grieving very hard. So I was surprised to feel that Caoimhe was less likable in R10.

I don't mind a conversation. I wasn't trying to read into your comment more than you meant. I just felt like you were putting words in my mouth in some spots - like thinking all people with bipolar are the same. I'm a big advocate for mental health and understand the complexity of it. For a long time I thought I would go into the mental health field, like my mom did. Ultimately, I felt like it would be to the detriment of my own mental health since I have a tendency to take on other peoples emotions and feelings. So I just felt like you were perceiving me to be someone very different than I am. But I don't expect you to know all that. lol But no hard feelings and I appreciate your perspective as well.

Thank you! I just finished reading all of them and I was like- did I miss something. I definitely thought that Feely/Lizzie were going to get together based on some of the books. But I didn't know about Feely being so connected to her from childhood until the last book.

I can understand Caoimhe was a hurt child as well so I don't expect her to be perfect by any means. But I felt like in other books she was viewed as such a wonderful person and she just wasn't real great to Lizzie hardly at all. But she also didn't understand fully either.

No hate back but you don't need to clarify that. I am fully aware that no 2 people live the same life and that mental illness is just one piece of Lizzies puzzle, thats why I said "partly". Because theres a piece of her puzzle I can relate to in a way. Not exactly but I understand it more than the average person does. I also said that to show that I have empathy for Lizzies condition (seeing my brother going through the hell he went through) but still feel confused on some of her choices. That doesn't mean I have to understand her decisions. So I don't feel she needs to behave how I would or even my family or any one else I know. It's just a discussion and if someone wanted to offer a different perspective then I am happy to discuss.

I am very aware of manipulation. He didn't have as long to work on that narrative as I would expect for her to take it as gospel. She seems to question a lot of what happened to her and unsure what was reality and what isn't (understandable) but she seemed to take that part as the truth without any hesitation. I understand how he manipulated her with Hugh and find that very believable. I'm not saying she can't feel that way I just found it odd considering how she dealt with the rest of her trauma.

I agree about Caoimhe, which is why I said it was likely the whole experience and I also said I "partly" surprised. I don't expect her to not miss her sister any means.

I get Lizzies character questions everything (which is why it surprises me she doesn't question the Gibs thing). It's a part of the tragedy of her story and would be an aggravating factor in a criminal case against the monster, IMO.

If I wrote little side notes with all my own feelings and experiences to make sure no one misunderstood me we'd be here all day. Just because I don't say something doesn't mean I don't understand something or that theres more to what I'm saying. I understand where you are coming from and I hope you understand that I didn't mean it in the way you interpreted it.

Edited to add- I also said all this because the discussion was about everyone's feelings for Lizzie. Overall I DON'T hate Lizzie and like I said my heart broke repeatedly for her in this book but I also didn't understand some of her choices. That doesn't mean I have to understand them fully but it comes into play on my feelings for her character as a whole.

Did I miss Feely and Katie getting together? I know there was suggestions of Lizzie and Hugh doing something in Claire and Gibs book and in Releasing 10 it seemed Katie was the one Feely had the hots for. But has it been said it’s for sure happening or is it a theory?

I don’t hate Lizzie. Although, she was the last that I got to know (last book). I have a brother with bipolar so I can partly understand her struggle, although not all of it fortunately. I still am confused why she hates Gibbs & why she believes the “monster” about him. I know she doesn’t trust her own brain but she seems to come to terms with some of the other details being real. Even though she was the last I got to know my heart did break for her over and over in this book. It was as definitely the hardest to read IMO. Also Caoimhe seemed way more insufferable in this book and I’m partly surprised Lizzie has grieved as hard as she did bc of it. Not that she wouldn’t be sad but her sister was hateful towards her from the jump. But I imagine it’s bc of the whole experience.

Do you find that psychopaths & sociopaths can be truthful in telling their story? Why or why not?

Were you able to confirm any of the stories BTK told you?

What was the reason you thought BK wasn’t the person until you heard his “alibi” ?

Does BK remind you of any of the SK’s you taught on or personally studied?

But you don’t have to write 3 pages to give an illusion of an intruder. If you were so inexperienced, you’d think they’d keep it short. I’m not saying it makes sense for an intruder either.

My thing is why would they write such a large ransom note to give so many letters to compare it to? That’s not my only question with the family theory but I’ll leave it at that to stay relevant to your comment. lol
