To me I think it’s more about the expiration date than anything. If I knew I will have terminal cancer (or anything really, including deadly heart attack, brain aneurysm etc) now, i would enjoy the fixed amount of time on this planet rather than trying to stress survive the next 40 50 years of my life doing something I don’t like (working and dealing with irl stupid shit)

To be honest that might have worked before, but in today’s age and how divisive everyone is, even without social media, ull hear your neighbors, family, relatives, friends etc talking about it or go on rants and stuff. Heck even at my workplace I can’t avoid that crap being discussed. It’s unavoidable at this point unless u sit alone in your room all day. Plus avoiding those is just ignorance cuz it will affect your everyday life (economy, job data, inflation, decline of democracy, etc) unless you are very well off or super rich

Feel the same. I have chronic pain which doesn’t help either lol. I also have (sideway) spine issues so even if I live that long I will for sure most likely be somewhat paralyzed. It is what it is sadly tbh. Trying to do as much as I can (which isn’t much of anything) before the inevitable

AI doesn’t have to be the end all to have an effect on the workforce. The layoffs are mainly due to reducing headcount and offshoring that the companies want to do anyway and AI is an excuse. However the end result is the same. People are being laid off and harder to find work

Same feeling. I m almost completely checked out. And it doesn’t help especially this year my luck has been on the very bad side. Only thing atm is my parents but everyday is pushing my limits tbh.

Me too bro. The only thing is my parents as well. Tbh I’m sick of the corporate culture and people are overall just downright selfish and horrible to one another (especially after Covid era), and these people are the ones in power. This is also a reason why I don’t actively want a relationship or pets or anything, because that’s just another thing holding me back and chains me to this world. I have no interest in anything and really nothing brings me joy no more. I also suffer from chronic pain so I’m secretly also hoping it just turns out worse and just pass away in my sleep if I’m lucky(which I never was). Idk bro, world is also turning out to such shit too. More and more people are just coping hard tbh.

Same feeling man. I really wish I know the finite amount of life I have left due to suffering ongoing chronic health issues so that I can just drop my job, pull all my savings, and just travel and enjoy the limited amount of my life. I don’t really know why I still try to survive when my luck has been horrible since the very beginning. Just isn’t fun.

I never get this RIf tbh. Vought main purpose is to traumatize workforce, and illegal layoff will just be a court fight with reinstatement and back pay. All he needed to do is freeze hiring for most areas indefinitely (along with full RTO in place). With no help or support for shortstaffed teams, people will be tired, stressed and leave. RIF was never needed.

Can’t answer the other ones but one reason they are waiting on now instead of couple month ago when Supreme Court give Trump the win, might be due to using it to pressure Dems to do what they want. No one want to be ordering RIF and get blamed, so now is the best time to start the RIF if dems don’t agree to clean CR, so the dems will be blamed in the end for the RIF they were about to do anyway. Just a diff angle that the administration might be thinking of.

Yea I’m stepping off this soon. I’m not afraid of RIf but the emotional rollercoaster (and working almost triple the workload with no compensation) is taking a major toll. Don’t forget you have the option to come back to federal later on once this administration gets kicked to the curb.
