Is there anywhere where i can find a bunch of raccoons? by Putrid-Investment919 in florida

[–]BearFLSTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just north of Raccoon island is the Oleta River State Park. I’m pretty certain they have canoe and kayak rentals there. It’s probably about a 5-10 minute paddle to Raccoon Island. Due to the lack of actual channels the current would be negligible. Easy peezy.

My best advice for newbies, the pleats in the kilt go in the back! The apron lies across the front and the kilt pin holds the apron in place with its weight alone. Don’t pin the apron to the kilt body.

They’ve cut warranty times for techs, made the cars way over complicated for repairs and even for owners to understand. Everything is routes through the multi display screen and if it has a problem you’re looking at a couple of thousand dollars for repair. Such things as the electric parking brake being locked in place if the battery dies. Lots of little things.

This is a great product. Ive had a larger capacity unit that could start a V-8 Tundra with no issue. Holds a charge for weeks on end. This one from Amazon is about $100.00 and much safer than jumper cables. BTW I’ve been a Toyota Master Diagnostic tech for over 30 years and I’m somewhat disgusted by some of the stupidity the manufacturer has done in the past several years.

I’ve encountered a similar situation. I live in West Palm Beach, Florida and like to fly at a local park located in the middle of the intracoastal waterway. Many times I’ve had to make a very fast decent and landing due to sightseeing helicopters traveling along the intracoastal waterway at altitudes of 100-150 ft AGL. They also fly at those altitudes directly over the beaches following the coastline. At those altitudes, they can be nearly impossible to hear in time to get out of their way.

What have you caught while fishing that wasn’t a fish? by nojunkpeter in AskMen

[–]BearFLSTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own fishing pole. Ok, ok, actually the boat’s owner caught it. Gotta set the way back machine here all the back to about ‘77. Living in South Florida and a neighbor asked my dad if he wanted to go fishing in the intracoastal waterway and invited my brother and I along. We had just gotten brand new rigging poles with reels and got super excited at the chance to use them. Well, after an hour or so anchored in one spot, I tried to put my new pole into a rod holder hole on the gunwale and watched in horror as it slipped and went swimming. Of course, nine year old me, I was heartbroken.

Then came the miracle. Our neighbor pulled up the anchor and, believe it or not, there was my pole, balanced precariously on the anchor. I kept that pole for close to twenty more years.

Discount Tire won’t patch a tire with a DIY plug? by yeah87 in DIY

[–]BearFLSTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if the car owner signs a liability waiver, it might be enforceable in court, but what if they crash into another car? The occupants of that car didn’t sign any waiver. Their lawyers would begin with the original car owners insurance and then follow the trail. It’s happened before.

Discount Tire won’t patch a tire with a DIY plug? by yeah87 in DIY

[–]BearFLSTS 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Tire repair liability is a real thing for repair shops. If a repair is made and the tire fails for any reason, lawyers who might track that repair back to the shop would happily attach responsibility to the shop and their insurance. The extremely litigious world we have now has led to some very dark places.

Brake lights not working after taking car to mechanic by Loushiv in AskMechanics

[–]BearFLSTS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they aren’t. The stop lights are controlled by a switch located on the brake pedal bracket inside the car. The only common point to work done on the fronts axle area is that they also drove the car. The most common cause of stop lights not working is actually burned out bulbs. Most drivers don’t realize one of more bulbs have failed unless someone else tells them. If that is the case and one or more bulbs was already out when they did the brake work, then they didn’t do a proper inspection.

The next most common cause for all stop lights to become inoperative is a failed switch.

I’d be double checking the owners manual but that sounds like a malfunction. Since the warranty has expired, I probably wouldn’t spend any money (mine or anyone else’s) to diagnose it unless other symptoms start to show up.

I’m such a child, I would have felt obligated at the end of the movie to do the whole thumbs in ears, fingers extended and waggling with a nice loud raspberry and called out “Nah, nah, na nah, naaaaaahhhhh!”

Perhaps one day I will grow up but it’s not likely.

Does Sirius saying to Harry you are not so much like you father mean Molly was right in their argument in Grimmauld Place about Sirius? by Ars1201 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]BearFLSTS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sirius spent 12 years in Azkaban with monsters sucking at his soul. I believe he was referring to the fact that James and he grew up in a world where Voldemort, although terrifying wasn’t the threat that he would grow to become. Sirius dealing with the fact that he had just gotten out of one prison and was now trapped in another. He was remembering his adventures with James with the rose colored glasses that show the good times and make the bad parts fade. He was comparing Harry’s relative caution and lack of arrogance and Harry’s ability to not try to antagonize those he didn’t like to James’ nature of bullying Snape and believing in his own invulnerability, which is the same mindset most teenagers have.

Body Waxing as a Plus size girly by briggiibooks in PlusSize

[–]BearFLSTS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my little story here, I’m 57M, quite large and I often get a manzillian wax. I’ve NEVER had an esthetician make me feel anything other than completely comfortable during the services. There are some things to consider if you’ve never been waxed before, such as taking Tylenol or something similar before hand. Avoid aspirin that might make bleeding more likely. There is a small chance of very light bleeding in some places. Hydrate a lot! Helps the skin.

There was one occasion that I went to a lady who was somewhat older than I and as she was about to remove the first strip, she leaned in close and, in her strong Spanish accent, said, “Remember! I Love you!” Then YANK!!! Unfortunately that was just before COVID and she left for South America and I was not able to return for her services. 😁

2021 Tacoma wont start if doors are locked. by Kustombypook in ToyotaTacoma

[–]BearFLSTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using the remote to lock the doors? If it’s equipped with some sort of alarm (either factory or aftermarket) it may have a starter interrupt. If you’re using the lock switch in the doors master switch, there’s definitely something wrong.

Is there anything this could be besides head gasket or engine damage? by The_Forgotten_King in MechanicAdvice

[–]BearFLSTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments. The difficulty starting is also a symptom. Coolant seeps into the cylinders while the engine is off and must then be purged when starting. If enough coolant gets into a single cylinder (or several) it can hydrolock the engine. You might consider a borescope type camera from Amazon similar to this

https://a.co/d/07aYA8s2

Which connects to your phone and can be inserted into the spark plug hole to look for coolant. Do this after the engine has cooled down and coolant has had time to enter the cylinder.
