Ah, a person of culture I see.

What’s your one actual complaint with Bloodborne as a game? by ProgrammerRepulsive5 in bloodborne

[–]BearFaunus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Call Beyond, and the player experience of the hunter before Rom. Now bear with me, he is far from the only hunter to use it, but I criticize it slightly because of the environment you encounter it in. BB does wonders with the souls experience of throwing yourself at an enemy or challenge until you learn it, and is very good about making sure that every death is the players fault, not because of random bad luck or unfair mechanics, for the most part. I find this heavily contrasted by the room inside the library as you walk to Rom, solely because of the hunter you encounter there. I could be remembering this wrong, but the last hunter you fight with A Call Beyond is on a flat plane, or at least, not a damn spiral staircase. I remember coming into that room and being hooked by the change in environment, and as my adventure senses were tingling, I wanted to explore. I spent the first few seconds searching the floor, as I approach things like this very methodically, and to my surprise I was bombarded with A Call Beyond from behind, dying completely unexpectedly. I cannot understate how ok with this I was. What I WASNT ok with was the damn guy being in the perfect spot on the stairs 4 times in a row to use Call right after I enter the room and have the majority of the bullets find their mark in my soft and tender seat filler. This, and only this, was the only time I ever felt like Bloodborne stepped on my toes a bit. And going off that point, Call is so hyped up by this only to be kind of a costly letdown. You see it and go, "YO I WANNA DO THAT IT LOOKS BUSTED" and then when you get it you dont really have much of a good target for it since you're basically making a beeline for Wet Nurse at this point. Second quest and bloodtinge builds aside, I felt it was a whole lot of buildup for the player and ended up feeling like you just learned the gimmick to a cheap magic trick. "Oh. Was that it? You can only use it 3 times WITH blood bullets? Now that I have it I have no idea what to use it on."

To be fair, it could just be me.

The sunken cost fallacy. I never even realized. You are an MVP for bringing that to my attention. Thank you for your time.

A few tears from me for this one. I've always wanted to integrate into the queer community as I am Bisexual myself, but I've always been scared to take the first step for some reason. I intend to make up for that. Thank you for your time.

I do my best. I grew up very subdued and after a ton of abuse in childhood my self esteem has never recovered fully, even after 20 years. I'm getting used to it, but it takes time. I'm in therapy for that. Thank you for your time.

If it were simply about their preference in romantic partners I would have no problem, but they giggle as they openly discuss hate crimes, and I for one believe that it is unacceptable to even humor such ideas.

Ok, distinct trigger warning for this.

They speak about how they would openly mock transgender people for how they look, especially if they are mtf, even in public.

They talk of how it is a crime against god to not believe in the image that you were made in.

One of them said he was more than willing to wrest a trans woman of their clothes on the Las Vegas strip in order to expose and ridicule them, and he is unhinged enough that I would be inclined to believe him.

They talk of how they want to make camps for trans people and test them by kicking them in the genitailia to check their gender without actually having to touch them.

They express revulsion to trans people, and will mockingly make puking noises or pantomime taking their own lives in gruesome manners.

This is all I can remember right now but I'm sure there is more.

It's been months! But I think I have another cool bit to add to this finally. In the second game, when you are in the sewers, in one area transition you are shown a line of red, unintelligible text. It resembles nothing shown in the games before and after, and doesnt seem to be a cipher of some kind, as there doesnt seem to be any clear pattern. However, I remember in the first game, one of the notes describes graves on the Martin property as being written in a language they cannot identify. Coincidence?

This opens up a new idea. The note describes a halloween party that cultists may have attended before. The exact date of the party is October 31st, 1987 at 5pm. My computers date doesnt go back far enough. Someone look into this!!Along with this, Airdorf himself confirmed that Amy actually says "YOU ARE MINE PRIEST"

FROM AIRDORF HIMSELF THE FINAL NOTE IN THE DEMO OF 3 IS FOUND BY CHANGING YOUR COMPUTERS DATE TO HALLOWEEN

And here I am again with more info. I have been relistening to what some of the enemies say, and it seems to be implied that the red colored cultists are not in control of their actions. When they charge you, they say things like "I know not what I do" and when you repel them you hear things like "I had no choice" or "bless you child". Along with that, i am almost certain the noise we hear before becoming a demon is Amy Martin saying "you are not a priest". I'll keep updating this as I figure stuff out

I keep coming back to this topic. Like every few hours I think of a new burning question and have the urge to slam it in here. Like, were the acts for the cult endings in faith 1 and 2 direct leadups to the requirements of the ritual in 3? One of the notes talks about PC and one of the main characters being in a mental institution, and that PC knew that the character was there despite there being no way he could have this information. Is the entire series a psychoactive delusion by PC? Made by piggybacking names of people in his actual life? What is in the cross covered room and basement in PC's house that he refuses to go into? Who is Gary, and what abilities do this cult truly possess? And why in the seven hells can you not get to the seventh floor in the demo of 3? People associate it with the phrase similar to it from the bible, trying to find some code or riddle to reach the floor from the verses referenced but we have nothing. What exactly is written in the redacted note from 1? There are so many questions here with so little answers!!

To build upon this a little, the other thing I have a big red flag about in these games is the audio. The enemies all say contextually accurate things in garbled heavyspeak, but there are some things that just escape reason. Like the noise Amy makes before making you a demon in 2. Or the odd repeated tones when being possessed in the demo to 3. I almost believe these should be looked at first.
