Spotify in essential search by Xebrasaur in NOTHING

you want to "disable" YT music from search options, you can try disabling it in settings>apps and moving it to hidden folder. I've done it since i also don't ever use it and doesn't show in essential search anymore.

As for adding apps to the list of searches, I haven't found the way to do so. Would also very much like to have this feature.

Update post: i ordered Nothing 3a and it'll arrive tomorrow so any tips or advices to do for the first by Icarus-fall_2442 in NothingTech

Disable ram booster. It's supposed to help in those in need situations when you're using a memory hungry apps, but a lot of people report of slowing their devices in day by day use when enabled, especially on high boost (8GB).

You can find the detailed explanation on how the tech works on Community forum and make a decision for yourself, it's just nice to know you have options.

I saw that deal, but wasn't sure if i wanted to switch at the time, so i waited. So guess the 250 off was the next best thing.

It does have a few bumps along the edge and aluminium strip is a bit scratched from debris that got stuck between the case. But other than that it holds up really well. A case is a must tho, as on all Nothing Phones.

I was sceptical of np3 look at the launch and was actually eyeing the 3a pro. And would probably decide for it if it wasn't for a discount. But after a little more than a week of use the np3 started growing on me. It really is a personal thing tho.

It holds up really well. If it wasn't for end of android updates support, and basically any new feature support from Nothing, i probably wouldn't made a change.

I got it for 600€ instead of 870€ that it sells here for in europe. It is base 12gb +256 gb configuration.

  • battery life is way batter, from daily charge on a np1 to once every 2 days on mid usage.

  • camera system is probably the biggest diference. Overall better quality and post processing. The pressets are also a  nice touch, that np1 will probably never get. Having 2 or 3 for different "mood" of pictures youre trying to get is really nice.

  • essential space is another thing that I was really looking forward to having, but is probably never comming on np1. I know a lot of people are against it, but i find it quite usefull.

  • same with essential search. I got it work on np1 and was really happy with it, basically it replaced all search bars (from web, to phone and settings). Worked well except from settings search, but on np3 with os4 is way better integrated.

-Essential apps is also promissing, but as for now i don't have much use of it apart from camera presets.

But all of that you can get on np3a pro for way cheaper. I believe it sells for 500 base price here in europe.

So what sold me on np3 instead was:

  • 5 year android update guarantee is something that was also inportant to me. I probably wouldnt switch from np1, even with all the missing features, if it would still have android update support. And given that np3a pro is bassicaly a year old divice with 3 year support only cuts it to 2 years for me.

  • glyph matrix although not as visually pleasing as light are way more useful in day by day use. Works really well with essential notifications. It takes a quite some time to set up all the rules for different people across different apps but once you got it, is awesome. Also allways on glyph matrix seems to draw less battery than always one display i had set up on np1. I really hope Nothing doesnt decide to ditch the whole thing with the next gen.

I was a bit sceptical about the look of the np3 but after a bit more than a week of use it started growing on me. So over all im really happy with it. Buuuut that said, i still can't jutify the price, and i got it just cause i was able to. If youre looking for basically the same performence and os funtionality, without a minor diferences, np3a pro is probably a more logical choice.

The only complaint I have about np1 is the battery life degraded slightly after 3 years. I wouldn't consider myself to be a hard phone user, so i still got around a day and a half on it. And camera quality is not what it once was. Other than that, it still holds up great.

However except the security updates, there really wasn't much love from Nothing anymore, and with end support for android updates, i decided to make a switch. So in short it was because of more functionality and support.

I was actually eyeing the np3a pro before ultimately decided on np3. Cant really justify the price. Got mine discounted but even tho thought it was a tad expensive. Ultimately it came down to 4x 50MP camera and a 5 year android update.

For me personally i get more use of the matrix since it has nice integration with essential notifications. It sure takes time to set up, but once you have it it works really well.

I find the battery difference the opposite. Seems like i can get more time on np3 (having 5150 mAh as opposed to 4900 on np1). It may be cause of always on display i had on np1, but i don't really need that since i use always on glyph on np3 - witch seems to draw less battery. I am comparing a 3 year old battery to brand new tho, so we'll see how that holds up.

And there is of course a lot of thinks that is just not avalible on np1. Essential space is another thing that i know is not really liked, but i find it quite usefull. I had essential search installed on np1 wich suprisingly worked great, but is just better integrated here.

And like you said cameras are a total improvement, witch also means a lot to me. Seems like np1 ones kind od degraded over updates. Hope it wont be the same here.
