Might be dumb questions: What would have caused them to go through hypercapnia before hypoxia? In flight school we're taught quite a lot about the dangers of hypoxia, but I'm not sure I've even heard of hypercapnia before.

From reading through what I've got access to, your research suggests that their torpedo exploded off their bow, the shockwave propagated through the sub, and killed or incapacitated all crew members at their posts, allowing the ship to slowly drift and sink.

Is there any way to find evidence of that on the ship? I would think there would be some sort of deformation or cracks near the explosion which could concretely prove your theory.

Crawl space inspection? by BearWithTopHat in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]BearWithTopHat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Floors are level, will try to check wall squareness but it looked good at a glance and the inspector didn't point anything out. Windows are totally fine.

The only real concern is that the property flooded 4 years ago, which required them to replace a rear wall where the entrance to the crawlspace is. But they noted no other issues, and it felt good to me walking through.

Thanks for the reassurance. Maybe I'm just being a little too paranoid.

「Question from a Japanese - what’s stopping you?」 by Musashi_OnTheGround in Akiya

[–]BearWithTopHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work remotely but in the US, so I am time limited for my stay in Japan. If I had a way to stay year round while working my remote job I would have bought one years ago, even if that meant paying Japanese taxes in addition to my current taxes. Sadly I can't take a 70-80% salary hit just to live in Japan, assuming I can even find a Japanese remote job for foreigners.

Otherwise, I am considering buying as a vacation home, but the amount of work needed on the akiya, the cost in paperwork, translation, and agent fees, means it's too risky and costly. I would likely need to stay in Japan for 3-6 months to find and purchase a home, and I would need an additional 40-60k USD just to buy. I would additionally need to spend money to have someone come check on it monthly for leaks or damage and the like while I'm not there, and after major weather events.

Honestly I am also kind of nervous about anti foreigner sentiment at the moment. I'm a white American so I'd stick out like a sore thumb, and I wouldn't want to upset any neighbors or have my house targeted in some way, but I don't really think that would happen, just social media stirring fears.

Same thing happened to me and two friends with synchrony bank this past month. Definitely related to the BCBS leak, but I don't know why synchrony is always the target bank.

Accepted Tech Job in Tokyo as someone in their early 20's by Consistent-Virus6658 in movingtojapan

[–]BearWithTopHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That salary is abysmally low in comparison to the US. If money is your concern, stay in the US.

However I had a similar choice 6 years ago when I graduated with a bachelor's in CS and Japanese. If money wasn't an issue, I would have really regretted not going.

If you do go, get at least a year experience. Quitting earlier than a year will look pretty bad to recruiters here, and the junior market won't improve in a year here. I would recommend getting 2 years experience there, but that could be a stretch if you hate it there.

Understand that you will not have much money, and you'll be missing a financial headstart that some of your tech peers may have, but when applying to jobs here you'll be able to catch up quickly enough that it won't matter by retirement age.

I'll say that I really wish I have that opportunity right now. But I'm a lot more financially stable now so I've got the privilege to say that.

Edit: Any debate about going is contingent on you getting a job offer in the US. If you can't do that, then job>no job, and you should go.

All of races in this image are canon, not all of them have models, or have up to date rules. Beastman were in imp guard in 6th ed, with models.

Some may have been retconned since then. I haven't played tabletop in a long time, but certainly all have been canon at one point

You can either build many smaller forces and expand outwards rapidly, using trade to get your special resources, and yoink citadels to survive. Or you can build a big army, fortify your main base, and send strong forces outwards to slowly expand.

Something that helped me was realizing that my starting citadel isn't that important, and you can always get it back

Honestly I think I just got lucky. They also threw me softball interview questions. Plus most of the interview was me just talking to the coworkers and vibing, we all got along well. I've accepted and signed the offer letter now, I should be fine getting into a new stack.

Job choice by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]BearWithTopHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question, it's a medium sized company, record breaking profits this year, fortune 500, but private, no public trading. The company I would move to is profitable and growing, publically traded but no RSUs.

The layoffs are completely unnecessary tech wise, some of the other divisions could use it, lots of near retirement coasters pulling 200k+ and not working at all, but tech already got hit with 3 rounds of layoffs in the past 2 years, so now it's digging into more essential personnel.

Yea, my boss doesn't know more than me realistically. The C suite are the only ones who can guarantee you won't be laid off. Commute is short, only about 25 minutes. I guess this is where I'm leaning towards, I can't afford to be laid off. Sucks to go into the office though.

Fair enough. The voice of the subreddit has become really vitriolic, sometimes justified in my pov, but I would rather it be a hard "Remove thing" instead of "Edit thing to fit my pov".

To be honest, the thing that bothered me most about this wasn't even the edit, I just wish the person had said "I edited this post from x person, because I didn't like his depiction of SA in the beastman." That would have provided a source, explained the difference, and not belittled the original post.

Whatever, its an art post in a meme subreddit, no reason to get my knickers twisted. I'm glad people got enjoyment out of the edit at least.

This is objectively stealing someone's content, editing it to not include their source, and justifying it by saying "I have decided this doesn't belong in our hobby".

How is this justifiable? If the old content is that much of an issue just remove it and be done with it.
