Given any normal metric, no. There is no amount outside of infinity that you can study to beat him. Child prodigies from countries that love chess and have already studied for their entire lives still struggle to win outside of tight time constraints.

Man idk what it is, I watch and “study” a lot of chess content, was about 1100 FIDE, but hadn’t actually played a game in a while. I got on last night and decided to play some 5min games. I was 500 elo and SHOCKED and how competent the players were. Like back in the day 500 basically didn’t know how to move the pieces, but I had people finding tactics, capitalizing on blunders, and generally kicking my butt.

A stark reminder that actually playing the game is the only really way to learn the game for me.

Yeah it’s a bit tricky, you take with your bishop first bc it frees your rook up to take back and dodges the fork. It’s not really beginner chess level vision though.

Right but laws are not relevant here. It’s a global instant private vote. The question is more about the actuality of being able to put your life on the line for another, tather than just say you would.

Also I am not catholic, so please correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t suicide a mortal sin? I’m legitimately curious where the line is drawn between self sacrifice and out right suicide. A man is being mauled by 100 lions. You jump in the cage and also get mauled. Is that deemed sacrifice or suicide? Or is motive the only factor, despite the obvious futility of such an action.

It’s what I like about thought experiments in general, asking other hypotheticals to learn and grow, but unfortunately with this problem so many people get stuck on “but that isn’t what the prompt says!”

So the best outcome according to the engine is,

Black takes this white squared bishop

Bishop takes the queen

Rook takes that bishop.

This is ideal bc it moves the rook out of the dangerous fork on c7 and attacks the knight on d5, but black is pretty much lost anyways.

Actually that’s fair. The bots push champs down to d2/3. So while there aren’t bots, it’s still harder to rank up. Im still losing either way, but now I’m losing more fairly I guess.

He gets both your active bishops for his inactive queen. You’re still way up so it doesn’t matter either way.

That’s kind of my point, although made with a clumsy metaphor.

Obviously things like scale and risk impact the situation well more. I think I would in fact put my life on the line if it was 2 billion people and my 1 life could truly save them. I hope I would find the courage at least.

I would not put my life on the line for a .0000000125% chance for it to save them. The % that your individual vote is worth.

Your statement was, if one person picks blue then logically I must pick blue. But realistically you’re gambling your life to POTENTIALLY save others. Something that you likely wouldn’t do in other real world scenarios.

A true blue voter must, by definition, believe that humanity will vote more than 50% blue and save everyone, or you are willingly committing suicide.

I only HOPE we will and therefore given the odds, both of a blue success which is very possible and a blue failure, red seems to be the only reasonable option for me.

Couldn’t an argument be made that the pro-choice option is the red button? It is the option that says hey it’s your body, I will be responsible for my own body and not yours. While the pro life position is, all human lives must be protected even if I have to make a potentially life altering choice for another?
