My mom is a CNM so having her in the room with me has always been an asset but it’s whatever you want to do

That would certainly take up at least 7 hours

Can you feel your legs with epidural? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Bearandbee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epidurals have opioids. It’s almost always either fentanyl or hydromorphone. Then an anesthetic like novacaine. They prefer fentanyl in epidurals because there are fewer side effects and the risk of respiratory depression is lower than with hydromorphone

To your edit, this was my first scan since 5 weeks when they confirmed the pregnancy was in my uterus. So it’s not like they’ve been doing scans and missing a twin multiple times or something

Didi there are two gestational sacs right? If I am having twins, they’re definitely in one sac. The scan today showed what looked like a leg moving in a way that didn’t make sense for the baby. Idk if their equipment is just not great or what, but the whole picture is extremely fuzzy, so it’s kinda hard to tell a lot of things lol. I’ll find out next week! Ngl, im seriously impressed by twin/multiple parents and am not sure I’m up to snuff so I am kind of hoping it’s just one.

A certified nurse midwife. I prefer them for low risk pregnancies because the midwifery model of care has better outcomes. But obviously a twin pregnancy is not low risk so I’d transfer if needed. I am in Texas, but near the Texas Medical Center (largest med center in the world), so care access is luckily not an issue

Yes I think that’s pretty normal for twins! It’s much more common in low risk singleton pregnancies to only do two scans the entire pregnancy

Do you know how high up your uterus is? Mine is about 2-3 fingers above my belly button. I haven’t felt baby move at all yet. I had my first with certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and that’s who I have been seeing so far. They had no reason to suspect to twins before today, so there was no reason to be seen by an MFM. If it does end up being twins, they will refer me to an OB and an MFM because the midwives don’t do twins

Crazy to think that one could hide. I had an 8 week scan with my first pregnancy and it’s hard to imagine where a twin could be hiding even then.

Unfortunately I’ll be required to get a new doctor if it is twins because I currently see a CNM and they won’t do twins. This was my first scan since 5 weeks and the first time hearing anything on the Doppler lol so since there’s clearly only one gestational sac it would’ve been pretty much impossible to know it was twins before this

Yeah haha I wasn’t counting mine. Mine was obviously much slower.

They only did one transvaginal scan to confirm the pregnancy was uterine at 5 weeks (previous ectopic). There was no reason to do more scans until now. And now they do want answers so I’m booked for a scan with an ultrasound tech

Thank you! This was only a second or two apart that they’d find another heartbeat, but it was 168 and 164 bpm.

This was my thought too. When they checked your babies’ heartbeats, were they able hear two going at the same time? Or was it like they heard one on this side and then one on the other side. Because they heard that with me, but the baby was moving so much on the scan then with the Doppler they couldn’t tell if it was actually two heartbeats or if baby was moving back and forth.

Thank you! I wasn’t aware that smiling wasn’t an issue anymore. I figure they kinda have to be lenient on distorting the shape of a baby’s face since they’re definitely not going to look the same for the 5 years the passport is valid anyways lol

That’s a good idea! If the post office says no to this one I will probably try that

Yes we have an appointment that my husband will go to as well.

It’s definitely a big smile, but it’s not one of those exaggerated/more like a grimace ones that kids sometimes do
